Claire R. Archer
Claire R. Archer [Reynaud], of Belmar, a well-known New Jersey artist, passed away at Ocean County Medical Center on Dec. 15 after a courageous battle with bladder cancer. She was 79.
Born Nov. 10, 1932 in Glen Ridge, she was a graduate of Orange High School and won a scholastic Art and Writing Gold Key.
Her many artistic achievements include contributions to Allaire Village, UNICEF, The Statue of Liberty Museum, and a mural at the New Jersey Veterans Memorial Home in Paramus.
She was a member of The Manasquan River Group of Artists since 1956, The Monmouth Arts Foundation, Ocean County Artists Guild, Guild of American Paper Cutters, and The National Museum of Women in the Arts.
She also did freelance industrial illustrations for Air Cruisers in Wall Township. She had a second career as an licensed practical nurse, having graduated from Monmouth County Vocational School after achieving a perfect school on the entrance exam for the LPN program in 1973.
She is predeceased by her husband, Robert B. Archer, a daughter, Dorian and great-grandson, Gregory Archer, Jr.
She is survived by her children, Lauree Golom [Richard], Heather Teahl [Kenneth], Hollie Archer, Beryl Cusic, and Stuart Archer [Shannon]. She is also survived by her grandchildren Gregory, Gillian, Ian, Rebecca, Robert, Rachel, John, Andrew, Dillon, Kate-Lynne, Mikaela, and a great-grandchild, Winter.
She is also survived by her sister Yvonne Plakiotis, of East Windsor Township, several nieces and nephews and a multitude of very dear and special friends.
Funeral services are private with a memorial service to be held on Feb. 4 at 12 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, in Belmar. In lieu of flowers, kindly make donations in Claire’s name to The Salvation Army, The Belmar First Aid or Belmar Volunteer Fire Department.
Wayne C. Barrow
Wayne C. Barrow, of Manasquan, died Wednesday, Dec. 21 at his home. He was 85.
Born in Long Branch, he grew up in Maryland before moving to Manasquan over 50 years ago.
Mr. Barrow was a court officer for the Monmouth County Court System in Freehold before retiring in 2001.
Prior he sold coffee for TM Ward for over 10 years.
He was an WWII veteran of the United States Navy and was an avid member of The Church of St. Uriel the Archangel in Sea Girt, where he was a member of the Church Vestry, the Brotherhood of St. Andrew and also served as an usher.
He was also an active member in the Elks organization for many years in Manasquan.
He was an avid flower gardner who loved his dahlias and liked to spend his spare time at the inlet watching the boats go in and out.
Mr. Barrow was pre-deceased by his wife Livia in 2001 and his son Charles in 2008.
He is survived by two sons, Wayne and his wife Lynda, of Wall, and Robert and his wife Linda, of Portland, Ore.; one sister, Axlyn Sommer, of Chatham; and five grandchildren, Allison, Christy, Matthew, Bradley and Lindsay.
A Mass of Christian Burial
will be held on Thursday, Dec. 29 at 11 a.m. at The Church of St. Uriel the Archangel in Sea Girt, followed by a family hosted gathering. Interment
will be private.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Neary-Quinn Funeral Home in Manasquan.

Irene B. Marschalk
Irene B. Marschalk [nee Bizub], a seasonal resident of Manasquan, passed away on Dec. 21. She was 91.
Born in Passaic, Mrs. Marschalk resided in Clifton for most of her life while spending her summers in Manasquan.
She had been a dental assistant for Drs. Kayne and Sussman in Clifton and Dr. Aisner in Rutherford for many years until her retirement.
Mrs. Marschalk was a parishioner of St. Philip the Apostle R.C. Church in Clifton where she was a member of the Prime Timers and the Rosary Society.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, F. Paul Marschalk, Sr. in 1965; two devoted sons, William Marschalk and Robert Marschalk; her loving daughter-in-law, Barbara Marschalk; two dear brothers, Edward Bizub and William Bizub; and three dear sisters, Vilma Reno, Emma Sugra and Margaret Iskra.
Survivors include: her devoted daughter, Marybeth Marschalk, of Clifton; one devoted son, F. Paul Marschalk, Jr. and his wife Rose Marie, of Sea Girt; two loving daughters-in-law, Susan Marschalk and Jeanne Marschalk; seven loving grandchildren; eight loving great-grandchildren; and her grand-dog.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home in Clifton. Services took place at St. Philip the Apostle R.C. Church in Clifton and interment was held at St. Mary Cemetery, Saddle Brook.

Charles D. Farrell
Charles D. Farrell, Jr. formerly of Bradley Beach, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, Dec. 17 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 60.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he lived most of his life in Bradley Beach.
He was a communicant of the Church of the Ascension in Bradley Beach.
He worked as the assistant vice president of the Mellon Financial Corporation in New York City. Charles was a member of the Shark River Yacht Club in Shark River Hills. He served on the planning board in Bradley Beach, as well as being a member of C.E.R.T.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 20 years, Maryanne [nee Marchwinski]; dear siblings, Dianne Repko and her husband Mike; Regina Becker and her husband Ron; Loran Termine and her husband Enricco; and a brother, Laurence Farrell. Charles is also survived by 16 nieces and nephews as well as many cousins.
Arrangements were under the direction of Reilly Funeral Home in Belmar. A funeral Mass was held at The Church of the Ascension in Bradley Beach. Interment
took place at Saint Anne’s cemetery in Wall Township.

Marion B. Smith
Marion B. Smith [nee Newcombe] of Bradley Beach, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 22 at the Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune. She was 91.
Mrs. Smith was a beautician for many years and proudly owned the Powder Box Beauty Shop in West Caldwell.
First and foremost, she was a devoted mother and grandmother who enjoyed playing golf and wintering in Florida. Marion was a fabulous cook who enjoyed entertaining family and friends.
Born and raised in East Orange, she lived Avon and Spring Lake Heights before moving to Bradley Beach four years ago.
She was predeceased by her loving husband Charles W. Smith in December of 2006, her brothers Lawrence Newcombe and James Newcombe and her sister Francis McAloon.
Surviving are her son Charles W. Smith and his wife Faine, of Avon-by-the- Sea; daughters Maureen Calandra, of Eatontown, and Geraldine Alexander and her husband Paul, of Plano, Texas; brother Robert Newcombe, of New Burn, N.C.; and sisters Regina Kapica, of Spring Lake Heights, and Patricia Kenney, of Manasquan. She also leaves her grandchildren, Tara Gohlmann, Megan Ferber, Charlie Smith, Colleen Freund, Kristin Holden, Paul Alexander and Erin Alexander, and 10 great-grandchildren.
Visiting will be on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the O’Brien Funeral Home in Wall. A Mass of Christian Burial
will be celebrated on Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary RC Church in Avon.
Entombment will be at St. Catharine’s cemetery in Sea Girt.

Dorothy F. Zoubek
Tinton Falls resident Dorothy F. Zoubek, formerly of Spring Lake Heights, died April 17.
She was 94 years old.
Born in Newark, she came to live in Spring Lake Heights in 1950 before moving to Seabrook Village in Tinton Falls. She was a graduate of the American Savings Building and Loan Institute, a Red Cross Staff Assistant in WW II, a volunteer at Jersey Shore Medical Center, and an active member of the St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church in Spring Lake, including past president of United Methodist Women, member of the Building Committee for Wesley Hall and member of the choir for 40 years. She traveled the world extensively and was an avid pinochle player.
Dorothy is predeceased by her husband of 67 years, Harry J. Zoubek.
She is survived by her four children, Hank Zoubek and his wife Peggy Crowley of Hobe Sound, Fla., Barbara Surmonte and her husband Chuck of Neptune, Lynn and her husband Rick Hill of St. Louis, Mo. and Paul Zoubek and his wife Susan of Leonardo; a brother, Philip Holmberg and his wife Sharon of Jacksonville, Fla.; brother-in-law Arthur Zoubek of Princeton; 12 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and five nieces and nephews.
Visiting will be tomorrow, Friday, April 20, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at O’Brien Funeral Home in Wall.
A prayer service will be held at the funeral home on Sat., April 21 at 9 a.m. followed by a memorial service at the Town Square Auditorium at Seabrook Village at 11 a.m.

Gerard H. Keller Jr.
Randolph resident Gerard H. Keller Jr. “Rod” died April 16. The founder and owner of several restaurants in the shore area, including Sea Girt, he also leaves behind many loved ones including family in Sea Girt.
He was 68 years old.
Born in Newark, he attended Seton Hall Prep and Seton Hall University.
He was an avid horseman and boatsman, as well as a dedicated family man. He was also the founder and former owner of “Rod’s Olde Irish Tavern” in Sea Girt, and former owner of “Frankie’s Bar and Grill in Pt. Pleasant and “Rod’s Steak and Seafood Grill in Convent Station.
Mr. Keller is predeceased by his parents, Gerard H. Keller III and Regina R. Keller; his son, Michael, and his brother, L. Robert Keller.
He is survived by his two former wives, Roberta and Maureen; daughters and sons-in-law, Regina Lyster and her husband William of Florida and Joanne Williams and her husband Sean of California; two sons and daughter-in-law, Gerard of Randolph, and Richard and his wife Brooke of Wisconsin; two sisters, Mary Kathleen O’Dell of Florida, Kathleen Donohoe and her husband Edgar of Harding Township; three brothers, Eugene and his wife Maryann of Sea Girt, D. Peter Sr. and his wife Carolyn of Chatham, and Richard and his wife Glenda of Morris Township; seven grandchildren, and one great granddaughter.
A mass of Christian burial will be held today at 10:30 a.m. at the Christ The King Church in New Vernon, with interment at the Gate of Heaven cemetery in East Hanover.
Doyle Funeral Home in Morristown is in charge of the arrangements.
