Edward J. Holl
Belmar resident Edward J. Holl died on Sunday, Aug. 12, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center.
He was 78 years old.
Born in Vailsburg, he lived in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., Lakeland, N.Y. and South Orange, before moving to Belmar in 1979.
Ed graduated from Seton Hall Prep and Catholic University in Washington, D.C.
He was a self-employed civil engineer. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus at Our Lady of Sorrows, in South Orange and a member and communicant at St. Elizabeth’s Church, in Avon.
He was predeceased by his son, Stephen, in 1965.
Surviving are his wife, Bernadette Flynn-Holl, RN; four sons, Edward C. and his wife, Juliann, of Belmar, Michael John, of Belmar, Christopher J. and his wife, Laura, of Avon, James S. and his wife, Kris, of Neptune City; one daughter, Patrice Bryan, of Shark River Hills; one brother, William and his wife, Betty Ann, of Michigan; a sister, Mary Ann Sullivan and her husband, John, of South Orange; six grandchildren, Christopher, Nicholas and Patrick Holl, Edward, Brian and Kerry Flynn Bryan; a loved nephew, John Hogan and his wife, Peggy, of Iselin; and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will gather at Reilly Funeral Home, 801 D St., Belmar, today at 9:30 a.m.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., at St. Elizabeth’s Church, in Avon.
Entombment will be at St. Catharine’s Mausoleum, Sea Girt.
Edward V. Trasborg
Brick resident Edward V. Trasborg, who was born and raised in Manasquan, passed away Friday, Aug. 10, at Community Medical Center, Toms River. He leaves behind many loved ones, including family in Wall and Lake Como.
He was 73 years old.
Edward was a carpenter for over 35 years. He worked for various builders all in the Shore area throughout his career.
He enjoyed reading, collecting arrowheads, and collecting military memorabilia. Edward resided in Brick for 40 years.
Edward was predeceased by his parents, Roy and Anna Trasborg; and two sisters, Adeline and Janet Trasborg.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Nancy Cottrell Trasborg, of Brick; a son, Kris Trasborg, of Jackson; a daughter and son-in-law, Amanda and Richard Trail, of Wall; a sister, Joan Trasborg, of Lake Como; and two grandsons, Andrew and William Trail.
Interment was held at Wall Church Cemetery, Spring Lake Heights.

Arrangements were under the direction of Orender Family Home for Funerals, Manasquan.
Clarence Ross Pell
Manasquan resident Clarence Ross Pell passed away on Monday, Aug. 13.
He was 91 years old.
He was born on Dec. 3, 1915, in Dover. He is a graduate of Netcong High School and graduated from Michigan State University, in June 1938, with a bachelor of science degree. in landscape architecture.
He was a United States Army First Lieutenant, and served as a Bombardier-Navigator in B-26 Bombers during WWII.
He was assistant landscape architect, then chief of the NJ Bureau of Landscape Architecture from 1946-1979.
He was a member of the American Association of State Highway Officials and Chairman of its Region I Roadside Development Committee. He was an active member of the National Academy of Sciences Highway Research Board Committee on Roadside Environment and founding member of the American Society of Landscape Architects.
Ross was a small plane pilot and builder of experimental aircraft and newsletter editor for NJ Chapter 315 of the Experimental Aircraft Association.
In addition to his hobby of building and flying aircraft, Ross was an avid gardener and outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and camping. He was an environmentalist his entire life and had a profound respect for plants, trees and nature. Above all else, his greatest joy in life was his family.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Barbara Worster Pell; daughter, Susan Zitzner and her husband, Raymond, of Manasquan; son, David C. Pell and his wife, Carol, of Denver, Colo.; daughter, Nancy P. Lavin and her husband, Fran, of Rumson; 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Elizabeth Branin, of Wayne.
He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. His warm smile and tender heart will remain with us always.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Julianne Hendrickson
Sea Girt resident Julianne Lynn Hendrickson passed away on Monday, Aug. 6, in Sitka, Ala., as a result of a plane crash that also claimed the lives of her sister, Emily and her father, Robert Hendrickson.
She was 14 years old.
Julianne had just graduated from eighth grade in the Sea Girt Elementary School and was to start Manasquan High School, in September.
Born in Livingston, she lived in Glen Ridge and Spring Lake before moving to Sea Girt last year.
She loved books, photography, playing soccer, Broadway shows and was involved in the Spring Lake Community Theater.
Julianne is survived by her mother, Ruth Anne Martin and her brother, Alexander Thomas Hendrickson, of Sea Girt; her maternal grandparents, Thomas and Inge Martin, of Riverdale; her paternal grandmother, Loretta Hendrickson, of Brick; and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Robert Hendrickson
Spring Lake Heights resident Robert Hendrickson died on Monday, Aug. 6, in Sitka, Ala., as a result of a plane crash that also claimed the lives of his daughters, Julianne Lynn and Emily Charlotte.
He was 45 years old.
Mr. Hendrickson was the president of Onco Inc., in Newton, which specializes in software development.
Born in Ridgewood, he lived in Glen Rock, Fair Lawn and Spring Lake before moving to Spring Lake Heights.
His father, William Henry, died in 2001 and his sister, Diane Smith, also predeceased him last year.
Surviving are his former wife, Ruth Anne Martin, of Sea Girt; his son, Alexander Thomas, at home; his mother, Loretta Hendrickson, of Brick; brothers, William Henry, of Wirtz, Va., James Kenneth, of Hardwick; sisters, Gail Levenelm, of Brielle, Joyce Amato, of Avon, Joan Rockett, of College Station, Texas, and Laurie Zoellner, of Creskill.
He also leaves 18 nieces and nephews.
Bobby dearly loved his family and his family dearly loved him.

Emily Hendrickson
Sea Girt resident Emily Charlotte Hendrickson passed away on Monday, Aug. 6, in Sitka, Ala., as a result of a plane crash that also took the lives of her sister, Julianne and her father, Robert Hendrickson.
She was 12 years old.
Emily had graduated from the sixth grade at Sea Girt Elementary School.
Born in Livingston, she lived in Glen Ridge and Spring Lake before moving to Sea Girt last year.
Emily loved to laugh, loved her friends and so much enjoyed various community activities.

George W. McAuliffe
Staten Island, N.Y. resident George W. McAuliffe, died on Friday, Aug. 10, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. He spent his summers living in Sea Girt.
He was 76 years old.
Mr. McAuliffe grew up in Oakwood, N.Y. and in 1963, he relocated to Atlanta, Ga., with his family. In 1998, he moved back to Staten Island, settling in New Dorp.
Mr. McAuliffe graduated from St. Peter’s Boys High School, and attended Wagner College, Grymes Hill.
He served in the U.S. Navy for four years, aboard the destroyer U.S.S. Forrest Royal. The destroyer was part of President Eisenhower’s peace-keeping force after the Korean War.
On Staten Island, Mr. McAuliffe briefly worked for the former Wallerstein Co., a chemical plant in Mariners Harbor.
While in Georgia, he worked as a laboratory analyst at a water purification facility in Marietta. He retired in 1997.
Mr. McAuliffe was a very social man and had a vast network of friends in Atlanta and on Staten Island.
“He was a natural storyteller. He was very likable, ” said his sister, Janet McAuliffe.
He also enjoyed oil painting in his spare time.
Mr. McAuliffe attended St. Patrick’s RC Church, in Richmond, when he lived on the island. As a child, he would wake up early and ride his bike five miles to the church, so he could serve as an altar boy at Sunday Mass, his sister stated.
“He was a good man of quiet courage. His death leaves both New York and Atlanta somewhat diminished, ” Ms. McAuliffe said.
In addition to his sister, Janet, of Staten Island, N.Y. and Sea Girt, Mr. McAuliffe is survived by his son, Michael, of Atlanta, Ga.; his two daughters, Catherine Just and Susan McCulley, of Atlanta, Ga.; another sister, Carol A. McAuliffe, of Staten Island, N.Y. and Sea Girt; four grandchildren, all of Atlanta; and his former wife, Marie McAuliffe, of Atlanta.
Interment was held at St. Peter’s Cemetery, West Brighton, in N.Y.
Hanley Funeral Home, Staten Island, N.Y., was in charge of the arrangements.
