John LeChard
John LeChard, 78, of Point Pleasant, passed away, Sunday, Feb. 26 at Ocean Medical Center.
Born in Point Pleasant, to the late Russell & Elizabeth LeChard, he was a life-long resident. Mr. LeChard worked as a marine contractor and owned and operated R.H. LeChard and Sons, for nearly fifty years, retiring in 2002. He graduated from Point Pleasant Beach High School and Rutgers University, with a degree in Journalism, and was a veteran of the United States Army.
Mr. LeChard was a former part-time court correspondent for the Leader newspaper; enjoyed reading and genealogy; and was an avid NY Yankees, Lakewood Blue Claws and baseball fan.
He was also a devoted and active member of Harvey Memorial United Methodist Church, Point Pleasant, where he served as chairman of the Church Council for many years.
His first wife, Penny Blair LeChard; brothers, William and Charles LeChard; and sister, Jessie Spear, predeceased him.
Surviving are his wife, of thirty years, Virginia Roe LeChard; children, Russell Douglas LeChard and his wife Cynthia of Toms River, Gail E. Akers of Point Pleasant, William LeChard and his wife Elizabeth of Point Pleasant and Lynn Eick and her husband Wilson of Ocean Ridge, Fla. Also surviving are grandchildren, Kaitlyn Akers, Evan LeChard, Alison Morris and her husband Bill, Amanda Benedict and her husband Steve, William LeChard, Jr. and his fiancée Beatriz, Matthew Dasti and his wife Nitai, Jerry Dasti, Keith Leonhard and Denise Leonhard; and great-grandchildren, Brianna, Deidre, Liam, Ivy, Paisley, Leela and Anna.
The Pable Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant was in charge of arrangements. At 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 2, a service will be held at Harvey Memorial United Methodist Church, 1120 Arnold Ave., Point Pleasant, followed by interment at Greenwood Cemetery, Brielle.
In lieu of flowers, donations made in his memory to Harvey Memorial United Methodist Church would be appreciated.

Alan A. Meredith
Alan A. Meredith, 87, of Lavallette passed away at home on Feb. 28.
Alan was born in Montclair and graduated from Montclair High School. He went directly into the U.S. Navy Construction Battalions [Seabees], serving four years in the Pacific theater until the end of World War II. After the war, Alan attended Rutgers University, playing on their varsity lacrosse team. He graduated from the College of Agriculture and Environmental Science at Rutgers University in 1950 and subsequently earned a Masters degree in 1952. He was first employed by Flako Products in New Brunswick. Returning to Rutgers, Alan taught agricultural economics and marketing at Cook College, Rutgers University for 33 years, becoming a full professor. He met Doris Eileen Jacobs at Douglas College and they married
in 1952. They had three wonderful children, Carol, Glenn and Scott.
After retiring from Rutgers, Alan worked as a booking agent for many circuses: Hoxie Brothers Circus, Alan Hill's Great American Circus, Walker Brothers Circus and most recently with John Pugh’s Cole Brothers Circus. For 15 years he was the marketing director for Vidbel’s Olde Tyme Circus and was responsible for many people in the northeast enjoying a family tent circus. A circus fan his entire life, Al and Doris finally attended a national circus fans convention in Hershey, Pa. in 2010. There he was recognized both as a “first of May” [first time attendee] and as a 50 year member!
Alan and Doris have been active members of the United Methodist Church both in New Brunswick and in Island Heights throughout their marriage. Alan was also active in the Kiwanis Club of New Brunswick, where he served as president and the New Jersey Lacrosse Club.
He is survived by Doris, his loving wife of over 59 years; daughter Carol and Martin Smith of East Brunswick, parents of Eric, Sarah, and Brian; son Glenn Meredith and Ann Marie Tvedt of Freehold, and son Scott and his wife Karen Meredith of Lavallette, parents of Kyle.
The family will receive friends at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 706 Hwy 35 No., Lavallette, on Saturday, March 3, from 2-5 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held at the Island Heights United Methodist Church, Island Heights, on Sunday March 4 at 2 p.m.

Timothy R McGrath
Timothy R McGrath, 44, of Little Egg Harbor, with family in Point Pleasant, passed away at home on February 21 after a courageous two year battle with cancer. Tim was born in South Amboy and raised in Sayreville and North Brunswick before moving to Ocean County.
He was an employee of the Ocean County Library system.
Tim is survived by his loving wife Karen Costello/McGrath and three stepchildren, Nicholas, Jesse and Alexis, his parents Patricia Hamilton of Hickory, N.C., Donald McGrath of North Brunswick, his siblings Colleen Castronova of Point Pleasant, Michael McGrath of Hillsborough, Eileen Ramsey of Barnegat, as well as two nieces and two nephews.

Helen Herbert Boorman
Helen Herbert Boorman, 77, of Brick, passed away, Thursday, Feb. 23 at Ocean Medical Center.
Born in Neptune, she was raised in Ocean Grove, and was a long time Point Pleasant resident before moving to Brick seven months ago.
Mrs. Boorman retired as a supervisor from New Jersey Bell, Asbury Park, where she worked for thirty years.
She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America; Faith Chapter, O.E.S., the Point Pleasant Garden Club and Saint Paul’s United Methodist Church, Bay Head.
Her beloved husband, Kenneth A. Boorman, predeceased her in September, 2011.
Surviving are her faithful friends, Buddy, Moose and Cody.

Henry W. Duerkes
Henry W. Duerkes, 87, of Toms River, died Friday, Feb. 24, at the Burnt Tavern Rehabilitation Center in Brick.
Born in Red Bank, he lived in Point Pleasant and Brick, before moving to Toms River 3 years ago.
Mr. Duerkes owned & operated Henry W. Duerkes Heating & AC in Point Pleasant Beach for 20 years before retiring in 2006. He was an WWII veteran of the United States Army. Henry was a three time Purple Heart recipient and a Prisoner of War. He was also a member of St. Dominic's Church in Brick.
Mr. Duerkes was pre-deceased by his wife Ida Mary in 2006 and is survived by four sons, James of Prescott, Ariz., John of Brick, Jerome of Brick and Jeffrey of Sevierville, Tenn., three daughters, Jane Satterly of Silverthorne, Colo., Judy Thomas of Toms River and Jennifer Gray of Manasquan. One brother, James of Virginia Beach, Va., two sisters, Grace Emmons of Farmingdale and Violet O’Shea of Wall, 13 grandchildren and 12 great -grandchildren.
The Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, Manasquan, was in charge of arrangements. Interment
was in Brigadier General Wm. C. Doyle Veteran Memorial cemetery in Arneytown.

Robert E. Sammon
Robert E. Sammon, 50, of Point Pleasant, passed on Sunday, Feb. 26 at his home. Born in Orange, he lived in Toms River before moving to Point Pleasant 10 years ago.
Robert was a self employed Flooring Contractor for 30 years. He was a member of the American Legion SAL Brick 348 and Junior Vice President of the Men’s Auxiliary of the VFW Post 4715 of Point Pleasant.
He is predeceased by his father John Sammon who passed in 2005. He is survived by his mother Patricia McGrath Sammon of Toms River, his daughter Lisa, two brothers Stanley Politowicz of Michigan and Sean Sammon of Cape May, his two sisters Lynn Stefaniak of Brick and Kelly Murphy of Toms River and several nieces and nephews.
Silverton Memorial was in charge of arrangements. Cremation was private.

Frank P. Addonizio
Frank P. Addonizio, of Wall Township, died Saturday, Feb. 25, at Jersey Shore Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. He was 85.
Frank was born in Newark and the oldest of six children. He attended West Side High School and graduated with a degree in political science from Rutgers in Newark.
Frank was a Army veteran and was recognized at a ceremony in 2006 as the last WWII veteran working in Essex County. After his military service he worked at his Uncle Pat’s butcher shop. He then passed several civil service tests and became a probation officer and head of the State Board of Beauty Culture.
This began his impressive 50-year employment with the Essex County Department of Citizen Services.
Frank had a passion for politics and was elected in 1958 as councilman of the West Ward in Newark and served until 1970. Frank then went on to work for the fraud unit of the Essex County Welfare Board in Newark where he retired in 2007 as the assistant chief investigator. During this time, Frank also served on the Wall Township committee from 1994 until 2002 and served as a committeeman, deputy mayor, and mayor in 1996, 1997 and 2001 and also served on the board of adjustments and the planning board for several years.
In a ceremony in 2006, Frank was recognized as the last World War II veteran working for the Essex County.
Besides his passion for politics, Frank was an avid reader, enjoyed rides to the boardwalk with his dog Rusty, spending time with his family, and bragging about his family’s accomplishments.
Frank was predeceased by his parents, Ralph and Mary Addonizio; his sister, Rozlyn Mazzarella; his brothers, Prisco and Ralph Addonizio; and former wife, Eileen Addonizio.
Surviving are his sons Ralph Addonizio and his wife Hilary, of Wall; Frank Addonizio and his wife Carrye, of North Carolina, and their two children Sophia and Matthew; Gabe Addonizio, of Wall; sisters: Dolly Verdi and Florence Aaronson, of Wall; and numerous nieces and nephews that he adored.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Orender Family Home for Funerals in Manasquan. A Mass of Christian Burial
will be offered today, Thursday, March 1 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mark’s Church in Sea Girt. A burial will follow in Holy Sepulchre cemetery in Newark.

Frances Brodzinski Toth
Frances Brodzinski Toth, of Wall Township, passed away peacefully on Feb. 28, She was 95.
Prior to moving to the Wexford at Wall, Frances was a lifelong resident of South River.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Steve Boldizar and her second husband, Joseph Toth, and her daughters Monica Toth and Barbara DeMaritz. Also her sisters, Regina Lonski and Rose Brodzinski and her brothers Edward, Alex and Anthony Brodzinski.
She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Dustal and her husband Robert, of Lakeland, Fla., Marie Boldizar, of East Brunswick, and Christine Kaczorowski and her husband Wayne, of Wall; and her sons Robert Toth, and Thomas Toth and his wife MaryAnn, of South River. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Robert, Richard and Kevin Dustal, William and Gregory Boldizar, Monica Dowling, Jillian Kaczorowski, Amy Menendez, Stephen and Alison Toth, Joseph and Victoria Toth, 15 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
Frances is also survived by a sister, Josephine Bito, of New Brunswick.
During her life, Frances put her family first in everything. She was loved by everyone who met her. She enjoyed cooking, baking and sewing for her family and friends.
Frances was a member of the South River Senior Citizens, the Rosary Society of St. Mary’s South River, and the St. Mary’s PTA.
Prior to retiring, Frances was a custodian for St. Mary’s Grammar School in South River. She also worked as a waitress at the Knights of Columbus and PNH in South River. But her most important job was that of “mother.”
Services for Frances will be at the Brunswick Memorial Home in East Brunswick. Viewing will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today, Thursday, March 1.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 2 at 8:15 a.m. at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial
will follow at St. Mary of Ostrabrama RC Church, South River. Interment
will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, East Brunswick.
