Rosalie Mole `
Rosalie Mole ` [nee Molee], with family in Belmar, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, Jan. 5 surrounded by her loving family. She was 84.
Born on April 8, 1927 to Charles and Josephine Molee who had resided in Palisades Park, Rosalie lived most of her life in Leonia until her retirement. Upon retiring, she moved to Lakewood.
She worked as an Executive Legal Secretary for Reeves and La Sala in Englewood. She was a member of Saint John’s RC Church, Leonia and active in her local C.Y.O. in Leonia. Later, upon moving to Lakewood, she participated in local activities as well as being a member of the Lakewood Chorus.
Predeceased by her beloved husband John B. Mole` and loving son Paul M. Mole`, Rosalie is survived by her son, John R. Mole`, of Trenton, and daughters Joanne Shaughnessy, of Belmar, and Rosalie Laramie, of Montaque, Mass. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jessica Mole`, Rory Malloy and his wife Chrissy, Kelly Busse, Thomas and John Brogden, Marc Mole`, and Charlie and James Brogden, and a great granddaughter, Joscelin Busse.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Reilly Funeral Home in Belmar. A funeral mass took place at The Church of Saint Rose in Belmar. Cremation was private.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made to The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of Hackensack University Medical Center, 30 Prospect Ave., Hackensack in memory of Rosalie.
Jennie Lee Aitkenhead
Jennie Lee Aitkenhead, of Spring Lake, died Thursday, Jan. 5. She was 71.
Born in Neptune, she lived in Spring Lake for most of her life. Mrs. Aitkenhead was a teacher for over 25 years before retiring from Monmouth Adult Education Commission in Eatontown in 2000. She was a member of the Church Preservation Committee of Holy Trinity Church, the Garden Club and the Bath & Tennis Club, all of Spring Lake. Mrs. Aitkenhead was also a mentor in the Mountz Uniting Seniors and Students program at the elementary school in Spring Lake.
Mrs. Aitkenhead was predeceased by her husband Rennie in 2005 and her brother James Edwards in 2007.
She is survived by two sons, David A. and his wife Annette, of Mendham, and James A., of Spring Lake; two daughters, Jennie Lee O’Donnell and her husband Kevin, of Bermuda, and Elizabeth A. McKnight and her husband James, of Atlantic Highlands; one brother, David Edwards, of Maine; and seven grandchildren: Emma, Mollie, Hailey, Tristan, Sydney, Ian and Katherine.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Neary-Quinn Funeral Home in Manasquan. Interment
was at Old Tennent cemetery in Tennent.

Gertrud Tanio
Gertrud Tanio, with family in Wall, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 3 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune with her family by her side. She was 93.
Gertrud was born on Nov. 17, 1918, and raised in Mannheim, Germany. In 1952, she married
Henry Tanio, an American serviceman from Hawaii who had been stationed in Germany. They were stationed at various United States Army bases around the world, including Japan; West Point, N.Y.; Stuttgart, Germany; and ultimately at Fort Monmouth. They purchased their home in Neptune in 1966 and have lived there through the present.
Gertrud proudly became an American citizen. While in Germany, she worked as a telephone operator. While living in Neptune, she worked as a teacher’s aide for the Neptune Board of Education and later as an aide at the Green Grove Lodge assisted living facility
She enjoyed spending time with her beloved family. During the last few years, she took trips with her family to Disney World, Niagara Falls, and for her 90th birthday went on a cruise to Bermuda. She especially enjoyed several trips to Hawaii.
She loved animals. While at home she was rarely without her beloved pets, from Tiger, to Kiki, to Moet, and her Pomeranian Fuzzy is surely missing her.
Gertrud and Henry were married
for over 59 years.
Gertrud was predeceased by her parents, Phillip and Emma Mueller
She is survived by her husband Henry, and by two daughters and son-in-laws, April and Michael Kirby, of Wall, and Rose and Clifford Walker Jr., of Goodyear, Ariz. She is survived by four grandchildren, Megan Kirby McCay and her husband Edward, Claire Meredith Emma Kirby, Constance and her husband Raymond Nystrom, and Clifford M. Walker, III. She is also survived by two great grandchildren, Brendan Michael McCay and Emma Evelyn McCay.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Orender Family Home for Funerals in Manasquan. Interment
took place at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial cemetery in Wrightstown. In honor of Gertrud’s love for animals, donations may be made to the Associated Humane Societies of New Jersey, Monmouth County Branch, 2960 Shafto Road, Tinton Falls.
Catherine Travis Karl
Catherine M. Travis Karl, of the West Belmar section of Wall, passed away on Jan. 4 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune surrounded by her family. She was 84.
Born on Feb. 29, 1928 in Newark to William and Catherine Travis, Catherine grew up in Harrison and graduated from Harrison High School in 1946. She worked at PSE&G until she was married
to Edward F. Karl and moved to the shore area in 1952. She was a resident of West Belmar from 1954 to 2007. She then spent her last years in Belmar.
She was very involved in The Church of St. Rose, in Belmar, for many years and also worked at Saint Rose High School for 22 years before retiring in 1991.
Predeceased by her husband Edward in 2002, Catherine is survived by five sons, Edward and Nancy Karl, of Neptune; Gerard Karl, of Belmar; Kevin and Marianne Karl, of Wall; Craig and Sherre Karl, of Belmar; and Thomas and Judy Karl, of Wall. She is also survived by a brother, William Travis and his wife Barbara, of Belmar; nine grandchildren, Jessica Anan and partner Brent Burns, Jamie and Ray Luke, Brian Karl, Andrew and Mong-Wai Malanga, Dana and William Moriarity, Meagan Cowell, Kelli Karl, Sarah Karl and Jenna Karl; three great grandchildren, Andrew Acevedo, Brody Burns and Jack Moriarity.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Reilly Funeral Home in Belmar. A funeral mass took place at the Church of St. Rose in Belmar. Interment
was held in Saint Anne’s cemetery in Wall Township.
Elise Cuff McKenna
Elise Cuff McKenna, of Avon-by-the-Sea, passed away. She was 91.
Elise was born in Elizabeth in 1920 where she attended St. Genevieve’s School and St. Mary’s High School. A graduate of Jersey City Medical Center School of Nursing and Seton Hall University, Elise was a dedicated and lifelong nurse beginning with the U.S. Army Nurse Corp. during World War II. She served as a 2nd Lt. in both New Guinea and the Philippines at Luzon. Upon her return to the United States, Elise served as a school nurse in the Elizabeth Public School System.
Elise met her husband, Frank McKenna, on the beach in Avon-by-the-Sea in 1954. They married
the following year, and raised their six children in Boonton Township where they lived for more than 20 years. She was the Boonton Township Board of Health nurse during the 70’s and 80’s and was a nursing supervisor at Riverside Hospital for more than 15 years.
She was a selfless mother, caring aunt and grandmother, and a faithful and a cheerful friend to many. She liked nothing more than catching up with friends and family over a cup of tea or a chat on the phone.
In 1990, Elise returned to Avon where she and Frank enjoyed a wonderful retirement: with music on the boardwalk, barbeques with family, and countless games of Rummikub at the Avon pool. She was a daily communicant of St. Elizabeth’s Church in Avon and an active member of many societies including the Rosary Society, Catholic Daughters and the Avon Leisure Club.
Elise is survived by her children, Frank McKenna of Brooklyn, N.Y., Elise McKenna of Stowe, Vt., Tim McKenna, of Cranford, Julie McKenna of Lancaster, Penn., and Maureen Michaud of London, England; and nine grandchildren.
Her son, Marty predeceased her in April of 2011 and her husband Frank died in 2008.
Services were under the direction of Reilly Funeral Home in Belmar. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated for her at Saint Elizabeth Church in Avon-by-the-Sea on Saturday, Jan. 14 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Avon-by-the-Sea First Aid Squad, P.O. James R. Waugh
James R. Waugh, formerly of Sea Girt, passed away on Monday, Jan. 9 at Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune. He was 61.
He was born in Neptune and grew up abroad in India and Turkey, returning to Sea Girt and graduating from Manasquan High School in 1968. James went on to graduate from American University in Washington, D.C. in 1972 and received his MBA from Rutgers School of Business in 1976.
James had a career in investment banking with TIAA-CREF, Merrill Lynch, Paine Webber, Nat. West, Houlihan and Cushman & Wakefield. He was also a consultant to the Department of Energy in Washington, D.C. His first love was his family, his second love was fishing as a Master Captain on his three boats, Paige One, Paige II and Paige III.
He is predeceased by his mother, Elise Waugh and brother, Richard Waugh.
James is survived by his father, Graham L. Waugh; his loving wife of 37 years wife, Laurie Waugh; his daughter, Jaqueline Waugh; sisters Susan Hyzer and Jean Anne Hutchinson; sister-in-law Suzi Waugh; his niece Shannon Mulvihill; his nephews, Robert Hutchinson, Russell Waugh and Patrick Mulvihill. He is also survived by his countless beloved friends and colleagues, his feline friends Dexter and Muffin, and “Friends of Bill.”
Arrangements were under the direction of the Neary-Quinn Funerarl Home in Manasquan. Visitation will be on Thursday from 2-8 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Manasquan, in Manasquan. Interment
will follow at Atlantic View cemetery in Manasquan.

Eugene E. Ertle
Eugene E. Ertle, Sr., of Wall, died Saturday, Dec. 31 at Ocean Medical Center in Brick. He was 88.
Born in Jersey City, Eugene lived there before moving to Wall 44 years ago. He attended John Marshall School of Law and New York University, where he earned various masters degrees in City Planning, Law and Probate. He was also a graduate of State Teachers' College.
Eugene proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II, earning various service awards. He worked in the Surrogate's Court in Hudson County and was the Director of the Jersey City Housing Authority. He was also an avid builder, constructing many homes in Wall.
He served on the Board of Directors at Greenville Hospital, was a member of the Holy Name Society, a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church and also was very involved with St. Anne's Home for the Aged, all in Jersey City. Eugene was a member of the American Legion Post 346 in Neptune. He was very involved for many years as a Little League Coach at North Wall Little League.
Eugene was predeceased by his beloved wife Eileen F. Ertle [nee Quinn] in 1982, his parents Walter and Annie Ertle, and his three brothers; Walter, J. Donald and Frank.
Surviving are his three children; Eileen F. Ertle and Robert Wallace; Eugene E. Ertle, Jr. and Michelle; Erik T. Ertle and Kathleen; his sister Edna and her husband Carl Accardo; and four grandchildren; Eugene E. Ertle, III and Amanda; Matthew Ertle, Brendan Ertle and Patrick Ertle. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and friend Gladys Erbe.
Visiting will be Thursday, from 4-8 p.m. at the O’Brien Funeral Home in Wall. A Mass of Christian Burial
will be offered Friday, 10:30 a.m. at St. Denis Church, in Manasquan. Burial
will follow in St. Catharine’s cemetery in Wall.

Sean Scatuorchio
Sean Scatuorchio, formerly of Spring Lake, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Dec. 10 at Universal Health Services Hospice in Fort Worth, Texas. His two surviving brothers, Brian and Patrick, were by his side.
Sean was born and raised in Spring Lake. He attended St. Catharine Grammar School and Manasquan High School. He graduated from St. Peters College, Jersey City, with a BS in Business Administration and Computer Technology. During college, Sean was employed by the IBM Corporation as a technician.
Following graduation, he worked as a computer technician and training instructor for Merrill Lynch, Nomura Securities, ILEX Systems and a JP Morgan Chase affiliate in Dallas. He also taught social studies at Our Lady of Sorrows, South Orange.
Sean was predeceased by his eldest brother, Dominic N. Scatuorchio, Jr., Vietnam 1970 and his father, Dominic N. Scatuorchio, Sr., in 2002.
He is survived by his mother, Eileen Reynolds Scatuorchio, of Spring Lake Heights, Brian Scatuorchio, of Jacksonville, Fla., and Patrick Scatuorchio and his wife Jean, of Sea Girt. Sean also leaves behind two nieces, Emily S. Snyder and Amanda Scatuorchio; three nephews, Ben, Tommy and Patrick Scatuorchio and two grat nieces, Ellie and Jess Snyder. Sean also leaves behind an extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends in New Jersey and Texas.
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to North Hills Hospital or Universal Health Services Hospice, both Fort Worth, Texas, or the charity of your choice. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 7 at St. Catharine’s Church, Spring Lake.
Dorothy Mae Herbert
Dorothy Mae Herbert, of Brielle, passed away Thursday, Dec. 29, with loving care at Geraldine Thompson Care Center in Wall. She was 74.
Raised in Brielle, Dorothy graduated from Manasquan High School. She retired as a cashier for Jersey Central Power and Light Co.
She was predeceased by her parents, Charles L. and Emma Palmer Herbert. She was also predeceased by her sister, Mary V. Asay and brothers Albert and Frederick.
She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law Charles Raymond and Gail Herbert, and several nieces and nephews.
Arrangements were under the direction of O’Brien Funeral Home in Wall. Funeral services will be private.
