Frederick W. Treue
Frederick W. Treue, 96, of Lakewood, died on Monday, Oct. 17 at Leisure Park Rehabilitation Center in Lakewood.
He was born and raised in New York City and lived in Teaneck and Point Pleasant Beach before moving to Lakewood four years ago.
He was employed as a machinist for many years. In later years, he worked in government contracting and ultimately worked on the Manhattan Project. He was also the president of Frequency Engineering Laboratories in Farmingdale, retiring in 1992.
He was an avid fisherman and a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 54 years, Dolores [Ahern] Treue in 1994. He is survived by his son, Paul, and his wife, Beverly, of Palm Coast, Fla.; his daughter, Rosi Kniffin, of Point Pleasant; five grandchildren, Shawn, Robert, Paul, April and Erin; and five great- grandchildren.
Colonial Funeral Home in Brick is in charge of arrangements.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, Oct. 23 at 1 p.m., 114 Central Ave. in Point Pleasant Beach.

Carolyn “Carrie” Burger May
Carolyn “Carrie” Burger May, 98, Point Pleasant, died on Thursday, Oct. 13 at her home.
She was born in New York City and lived in Plainview, N.Y. before moving to Point Pleasant seven years ago.
She was employed as an electronics assembly technician for many years, and was last employed by Harmon-Kardon in Plainview, retiring in 1978. She was a member of the “Ya-Ya” Sisterhood Chapter of the Red Hat Society and also an avid bingo player who enjoyed playing cards, taking trips to Atlantic City and dog and horse racing.
For the past six years, Carrie attended the Allaire Center Senior Day Care in Wall, where she enjoyed the staff as well as the activities.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, John Alexander May, in 1969; son Thomas and her sons-in-law, George L. Hadorn and Donald K. Stevens. She is also survived by her son, John, and his wife, Helen, of Mannorville, N.Y., and her daughter, Patricia Stevens, of Point Pleasant. She was a devoted grandmother of 11 granchildren, Thomas, Kathy, Robin, Colleen, Stephen, Debbie, Lynda, Christopher, Jack, Tim and Michael, 21 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Ruth O. Gerhauser Kieb
Ruth O. Gerhauser Kieb, 83, of Point Pleasant, peacefully passed away Tuesday, Oct. 11 at Meridian Nursing Center, Brick.
Born in Newark, to the late Thomas and Gladys [Davis] Gerhauser, she was raised there and has lived in Point Pleasant for 43 years.
She retired from Ocean County National Bank where she worked as a clerk. Mrs. Kieb was a member of the Point Pleasant Municipal Alliance, the Coastal Care Givers, an avid knitter for The Seamen’s Church Institute, and was a very active member of the community in general.
She was a devoted parishioner of Saint Mary’s by-the-Sea Episcopal Church, Point Pleasant Beach, where she was a member of the Altar Guild and for 40 years, the Church Choir.
Mrs. Kieb was predeceased by her beloved husband, William R. Kieb, in 1981.
Surviving are three daughters, Kathy-lynn Abrahamsen and her husband James, of Lakehurst, Valerie O’Reilly and her husband Robert, of Cherry Hill, and Kimberly McCourt and her husband Robert, of Point Pleasant; her sister, Joan Cirone; two brothers, David and Paul Gerhauser; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Arrangements were under the care of the Pable-Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant.
At 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 15 a Memorial Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Mary’s by-the-Sea Episcopal Church, Bay and Atlantic Avenues, Point Pleasant Beach. Inurnment will be at the parish memorial garden.
Memorial contributions made to St. Mary’s by-the-Sea Church would be appreciated.
Jeanne M. Ince
Jeanne M. Ince, 55, of Lakewood, died Monday, Oct. 10 at Ocean Medical Center, Brick.
She was born in Point Pleasant and lived in the Shore area all her life.
Jeanne was a loving mother and grandmother. Surviving are three sons, Michael, of Jackson, Thomas, of Orlando, Fla., and Matthew, of Jackson; her brother, Michael Rzeplinski, of Red Bank; two sisters, Eileen Teti, Eatontown, and Carol Blair, Point Pleasant; and five grandchildren; Shameka, Anthony, Dylan, Tyler and Cayden.
A memorial service will be held Friday, Oct. 14 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Brick.
Cremation will be private.
Colonial Funeral Home, Brick, is in charge of arrangements.
Anne L. Donohue
Anne L. Donohue, 88, formerly of Point Pleasant, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 9 at Sunnyside Manor, Wall Township.
Born in Bayonne, to the late Joseph Nowicki and Albertina Tarasiuk, she had moved to Point Pleasant 35 years ago.
Mrs. Donohue was predeceased by her husband, Harry Donohue in 1993, her sister Emily in 2002 and her three brothers, John, Stanley and Joseph.
Surviving are her son, Thomas Dent and Sylvia Hummel, of Brick; her former daughter-in-law, Karen Ryan, of Manasquan; two grandchildren, Trisha K. Brown and her husband, Mike, and Thomas Dent and his partner, John Castleman.
She was lovingly known as Granny Annie by her two great-grandchildren, Ginger and Donovan Brown.
Annie’s love of the Jersey Shore began as a young woman, and her dream was fulfilled when she became a full-time resident of Point overlooking the Manasquan River.
Arrangements were under the care of the Pable-Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant. Entombment will be at St. Catharine’s Cemetery, Wall Township.

Luis Antonio Castillo
Dr. Luis Antonio Castillo, 52, of Point Pleasant, passed away on Oct. 11.
He is survived by his loving wife, Glenda; children Louise, Lou Garrett, Loraine and David; mother Hilda; father Luis; and siblings Hector, Hilda and Oswaldo.
Arrangements were under the care of Martinez Memorial, 747 Market St., Paterson.
A funeral service will be held at the funeral home today, Friday, Oct. 14 at 9 a.m. Mass will be celebrated at St. John’s Cathedral at 10:30 a.m.
Interment to follow at Fair Lawn Cemetery.
Joan M. Spinozzi
Joan M. Spinozzi, of Manasquan, formerly of Hackensack, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 15. She was 67.
She was a manager and data coordinator at Pfizer Pharmaceutical Co. in New York City. Joan was a member of St. Catherine RC Church in Spring Lake.
Beloved sister of Linda Balis and her husband William, Jean Pieroni, Theresa Neshan and her husband Vincent, and Guido Spinozzi. Loving aunt of Garry Pieroni and his wife Amy, Vincent Neshan, Todd Neshan and his wife Danielle, and Kimberly Heyniger and her husband Will. Cherished great aunt of Taylor, Paige, Daniel and Isabella.
A funeral Service will be held Thursday, Oct. 20 at 9:30 a.m. at the Vander Plaat Memorial Home in Paramus, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at the RC Church of the Annunciation in Paramus. Interment
will take place at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus.

Thomas J. Gallagher
Thomas J. Gallagher, of Spring Lake, passed away at Shore Rehabilitation Center in Brick Township on Monday, Oct. 10. He was 88 years old.
Tom worked as a public relations executive for the Exxon Corporation in Linden for over 30 years before retiring in 1981. He then worked as a public relations director for his alma mater Saint Peter’s College in Jersey City. He was a graduate of Saint Peters Prep and Saint Peters College in Jersey City. Upon graduation from college, Tom taught at Saint Peter’s Prep for three years.
He was a proud Navy Veteran of WWII, having served in the Pacific campaign. He was a long time member and former president of the Belmar Fishing Club.
He served on the board of trustees of the Alexian Brothers Hospital and the Elizabeth General Medical Center, both in Elizabeth.
Born in Bayonne, Tom lived in Cranford before moving to Spring Lake full time in 1989.
Tom is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marie B. Gallagher, his three sons and their wives, Thomas H. Gallagher and his wife Stephanie, of Orchard Park N.Y.; Richard C. Gallagher and his wife Mary Theresa of, Cranford; and Cornelius Gallagher and his wife Veronica, of Wall; his 10 grandchildren, Christine, Timothy, Elizabeth Ann and her husband Michael Bonneville, Maura, Claire, Bridget, Kevin, Michael, Dan and Sarah; and his great grandson, James Gallagher Bonneville.
Arrangements were taken care of by Reilly Funeral Home in Belmar. A Mass of Christian Burial
took place at Saint Catharine’s RC Church in Spring Lake. Interment
will be at Saint Catharine’s cemetery in Sea Girt.
Steven M. Schwefringhaus
Steven M. Schwefringhaus, of Wall and formerly of Toms River, passed away suddenly Sunday, Oct. 9 in Myrtle Beach, SC. He was 23.
Steven was born and raised in Toms River. He graduated from St. Joseph’s Grammar School and Monsignor Donovan High School, both of Toms River. He participated in the Cairo Retreat and attended Youth Trooper Week while in high school. He attended Monmouth University before enlisting in the United States Marine Corp. He served in Iraq where he received several medals for his service. Steven loved to listen to music, shooting, working out in his spare time and spending time with his family and friends.
Steven was predeceased by his father Joseph F. Schwefringhaus in 2005. He is survived by his mother Bernice Schwefringhaus, of Toms River; three brothers and two sisters-in-law Joseph and Melissa Schwefringhaus, of Wall; Michael and Yukiko Schwefringhaus, of Brick; and David Schwefringhaus, of Wall; Micahel and Lori Hunt, of Myrtle Beach, SC; and the Sowul family of Wall; two uncles and two aunts, David and Marilyn Chechel, of Staten Island, NY; and Pete and Cathy, of Pa.; seven cousins, David Chechel, Carl Chechel, Christina Chechel, Peter Chechel, Tommy Chechel, Christine Chechel, and Dennis Chechel. Steven is also survived by several good friends; Bill Huss, Bill Melassanos, Juan Arana, Scott Trigo, Kristen Hunt, Kara Hunt, and Adam Henig.
Arrangements were taken care of by Orender Family Home for Funerals in Manasquan. Interment
will take place at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetary in Wrightstown, NY.
