Irene Amato
Irene Amato (nee Pagliari), of Avon, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 15 at her home. She was 96.
Irene was born in Scranton, Pa. and lived in Jersey City and Glen Rock before moving to Avon in 2009. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed playing bingo at Saint Elizabeth’s Church Bingo, in Avon.
Irene is predeceased by her husband, Louis, 1999, and her daughter, Mary Sekel, 2010.
Irene is survived by her loving children, Theresa M. Hines and her husband Everett, of Woodcliff Lake; Paul Amato and his wife Joyce, of Avon, Louis and his wife Mary, of Avon; her 12 grandchildren, John Paul, and Kim Sekel and Renee Sekel, Irene, Robert and Sandra Hines and Christopher, Michael and Matthew Amato and Louis, John and Thomas Amato; and 10 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Thursday, Oct. 20 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Reilly Funeral Home in Belmar. A Mass of Christian Burial
will be celebrated at Saint Catherine Church, Spring Lake on Friday at 11 a.m. The interment will take place privately on Saturday, Oct. 22 at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
In lieu of flowers donations in her name to the Visiting Nurses Association of Monmouth County, 176 Riverside Avenue Red Bank, NJ 07701, would be greatly appreciated.
Edgar Haines Cramer
Edgar Haines Cramer, Jr., of Sea Girt, died Tuesday, Oct. 11, at Care One at Wall. He was 64.
Born in Pemberton Township, he lived in Burlington before moving to the shore area in the early ‘80s.
Mr. Cramer was a computer software analyst for 17 years for CNA Corporation in Cranbury, retiring in 2003. Previously, he was a payroll manager at Union Data in Maplewood and prior to that, he worked for Chase Manhattan Bank in New York City.
He attended Monmouth University and New Jersey Institute of Technology.
In his retirement, Ed loved to go metal detecting. He found all sorts of treasures and had many good friends that he met through his hobby. He also was an early morning regular at the Princess Maria Diner in Wall Township, where he made many great friends at the breakfast counter. He was fond of golf, bowling, rooting for the N.Y. Mets and watching his favorite show, NCIS.
Ed volunteered for Meals-On-Wheels and went out of his way to befriend those who needed rides to doctor appointments, to vote or to simply talk.
He made it a point to think of the needs and concerns of others throughout his life with an optimistic outlook admired by all who knew him well. He always had a big smile for all he met.
Ed was predeceased by his mother, Marjorie Wooding Cramer in 1947 and his father, Edgar Haines Cramer, Sr. in 2002.
Ed is survived by his loving wife Joan Christine Eilenberger Cramer and his sons Brian James Cramer, of Spring Lake Heights, and Richard Vincent Cramer, of Sunnyvale, Calif. He is also survived by his loving step-mother Almeta [Mitzi] Cramer, of Moorestown; his brother Joseph Albert Cramer, of Pemberton; and his sisters Janice Lynn Cramer Trevorrow, of Lansdale, Pa. and Nancy Lee Cramer Walker, of Pemberton. Ed is also survived by nieces Meghan Walker and Stephanie Walker and nephews Michael Cramer and Stephen Cramer.
A memorial gathering will be held on Oct. 26 from 12 - 3 p.m. at Spring Lake Manor, at 415 Hwy. 71 in Spring Lake Heights.

James J. Hart
James J. Hart, of Wall, and formerly of North Arlington, passed away Sunday, Oct. 16 at the Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune. He was 70.
Born on Oct. 17, 1940 in Jersey City, he served in the United States Army from 1962 to 1964. He worked for the Railroad until his retirement in 1990. At that time he was employed by Con Rail in Newark.
James was an active member of The Church of the Ascension in Bradley Beach where he was a Eucharistic Minister, an Usher, a member of the Holy Mane Society and the Ascension Senior Club.
He was predeceased by his parents Charles and Kathleen Hughes Hart and his brother Charles Hart.
He is survived by his loving wife Bridget (nee Ribbon) Hart, whom he married
in 1976, and his sister and her husband Sarah and Roger Williamson of Flager Beach, Fla., his sister-in-law Justina Hart of Freehold, and many nieces and nephews.

will be held on Thursday, Oct. 20 at 10 AM at The Church of the Ascension, Bradley Beach. Interment
will take place at St. Anne’s Cemetary in Wall.

Joan Dolores Amend
Joan Dolores Amend, of Sea Girt, passed away Sunday, Oct. 16 at Manor- By-The-Sea in Ocean Grove. She was 85.
Born and raised in South Orange, Miss Amend summered in Sea Girt before moving there full time in 1981. She graduated from Saint Elizabeth College in Convent Station and earned her Master’s Degree from Seton Hall University.
She was a kindergarten teacher at the Salem Drive Elementary School in Whippany for 32 years from 1956 until her retirement in 1988.
Joan was a parishioner of St. Mark’s Roman Catholic Church, Sea Girt, where she was a member of the parish’s Altar-Rosary Society. A talented sewer, she also loved knitting on her front porch.
Joan was predeceased by her parents, George Peter and Marie Reilly Amend and her brothers George and Sanford Amend.
She is survived by her sisters Jean A. McCabe, of Sea Girt, and Kathleen A. Gilligan, of Sea Girt. She is also survived by nine loving mieces and mephews, 14 grand nieces and nephews, and six great grand nieces and nephews. She will be missed.
A Mass of Christian Burial
will be celebrated on Friday, Oct. 21, 2011, at 9:30 a.m at
St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Sea Girt. Interment

Armand Tanner
Armand Tanner, of Belmar, died on Wednesday, Oct. 12 at the Meridian Nursing and Rehab at Ocean Grove facility. She was 92.
Mrs. Tanner was a self-employed seamstress for much of her working life. She was a member of the St. Stepanos Armenian Church in Elberon and also was a member of the Armenian Woman’s Guid at the parish. She was born and raised in West New York, NJ and lived in Fresno, Calif. before moving to Belmar over 50 years ago.
She was predeceased by her loving husband Thomas Tanner in 2005. Surviving are her son Thomas J. Tanner of Belmar, daughter Diane Mastroly and her husband Fred of Jackson, and six grandchildren Jennifer, Jessica, Gregory, Eric and Marisa. She also leaves 10 great grandchildren.
Visiting will be on Friday from 4-8 p.m. at the O’Brien Funeral Home in Wall. Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Stepanos Armenian Church in Elberon. Entombment will be at St. Catharine’s Cemetary in Sea Girt. Donations may be made in her name to the St. Stepanos Armenian Church, 1184 Ocean Ave., Elberon, NJ 07740.
Riley Armstrong
Riley Armstrong, of Lake Como passed away on Oct. 13 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune.
Riley was the owner and operator of his own trucking business in Lake Como. He was born in Long Branch and lived most of his life Lake Como. Riley was an avid sports fan and constant Jokester.
He is survived by his wife of 24 years Sharon Armstrong; two sons, Riley A Armstrong, of Toms River, and Ronnie D Armstrong, of Lake Como; two daughters, Dawn D Armstrong, of Statesboro, Ga., and Tiffany L Armstrong of Lake Como; three sisters, Dorothy Bass, of Burlington, Rose Lillard, of Neptune, and Penny Patnaude, of Montclair; and five grandchildren, Da-Ron, De-Ron, David, Tymere and Moe.
Funeral services will be held privately under the direction of the Reilly Funeral Home in Belmar.
Jane G. Rosencrans Ford
Jane G. Rosencrans Ford, of Manchester with family in Wall, passed away Saturday, Oct. 15 at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank. She was 65.
Jane was born and raised in Cedar Grove and had lived in New Hyde Park, N.Y. for 35 years before moving to Manchester 10 years ago.
She was a dedicated homemaker, loving wife, devoted mother, and grandmother to her six beloved grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents Charles and Dorothy Rassbach Rosencrans and her brother Charles Rosencrans.
Surviving is her husband of 44 years, Alfred J. Ford Sr., her children and their spouses, Pamela and Donald Tigar, of Wall, and Alfred J. and Debra Ford Jr., of Rockville Center, L.I., N.Y., and six grandchildren AJ, Ben, Charlie, Abby, Cate, and Cali Rae.

was held at the Ascension Church in Bradley Beach.

William Arthur Freiday
William Arthur Freiday, a 1979 graduate of Wall High School, passed away on Monday, Sept. 26 in Bayville. He was 49.
William graduated from Wall High School as an honor student and a national merit finalist. He graduated summa cum laude from Princeton University in 1983 and earned his masters of arts degree from the University of California, Berkley in 1988. Early in his career, William worked in the U.S. for Bank of Tokyo and Bloomberg.
William nurtured a lifelong passions for learning and enjoyed all the beautiful things that the world had to offer. He was a student of languages including Japanese, German, Armenian and Spanish, masting them with ease and spent a summer in Germany and a year studying in Japan. William was also a gifted artist, creating intricate cutwork designs for a card deck. William embraced religions of the world and found great acceptance at the Armenian church, as well as in Catholicism and Quakerism. He enjoyed a wide variety of music and literature genres, each of which provided his much comfort and joy as his health declined.
William is preceded in death by his father, Dean, in 2008, and mother, Esther, in July 2011, and survived by his one sibling, Gail Freiday Crockett of Reston, VA and nephews, Scott Colin Crockett of Miami, FL and Drew Freiday Crockett of London, England.
Services were taken care of by Neary Quinn Funeral Home in Manasquan. Interment
was held at the Friends Meeting Burial
Ground in Manasquan.

James P. Farmer
James P. Farmer, of Belmar died on Friday, Oct. 14. He was 63.
A veteran of the U.S. Navy, Mr. Farmer is survived by his beloved daughter Jennifer Farmer, two sisters and four brothers, along with many nieces, nephews and friends. An avid cook, he was a long time member and current president of the Monmouth County Master Gardeners Association and a Belmar beach badge checker.
