Francesco ‘Frank’ Romano
Francesco “Frank” Romano, 60, of Wall, passed away on Friday Sept. 23, at the Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune.
Mr. Romano was the owner of Con Sapore Brick Oven Pizza in Belmar before retiring last year.
Previously, Frank was the owner of Potenza Auto Inc., in Jersey City for 35 years.
He was a member and past president of UNICO, North Arlington Chapter. He was a former member of Queen of Peace R.C. Church in North Arlington and a member of the Knights of Columbus within the parish. He was a communicant of Church of the Visitation in Brick.
Born in Noepoli, the province of Potenza, Italy, he came to the United States in 1969 settled in Jersey City and lived in North Arlington before moving to Wall eight years ago.
Frank was predeceased by his sister, Antoinette Fazari.
Surviving are his loving wife of 35 years, Jean Patricia Romano [nee Jacob], daughters Raffaella Romano, of Wall, Helen Kingsburg and her husband, Brad, of Monroe and son, Francesco V. Romano and his wife, Heidi, of Brick.
He also leaves his brothers Salvatore Romano, of Colonia, Pasquale Romano, of Westfield and six grandchildren Francesco, Jr., Valerie, Nicholas, Bryanna, Alexandra and Zachary.
O’Brien Funeral Home, Brick, was in charge of arrangements. Interment
was private.

Charles P. Tombs
Charles P. Tombs, 76, of Brick, formerly of Caldwell, with family in Manasquan, passed away Friday, Sept. 23 at Ocean Medical Center, Brick.
Charles was a lifelong resident of Caldwell before moving to Brick in 1998.
He worked for Millwright Local 740 for 25 years at Indian Point Power Plant and JFK Airport.
Upon his retirement, he worked for American Handyman for several years before starting his own home improvement business in 1990 retiring in 2000.
He was a coach for Little League baseball and basketball.
Charles was an avid fisherman. He also enjoyed to work around the yard and garden, doing home improvement projects and spending time at the Manasquan Inlet.
Charles was predeceased by his wife of 23 years, Katherine Tombs, in 1985, his parents, Walter and Doris Tombs, a brother, Walter Tombs and two sisters, Ruth Curran and Irene Ginty.
He is survived by his son, Walter and Wife Wendy, of Manasquan; a daughter, Carol Zarkowski, of West Cardwell; and three grandchildren, Tyler and Brynn Tombs and Nick Zarkowski. He is survived by his nephew, Thomas Ginty and his wife, Karen, of West Long Branch and his companion Betty Salamone, of Brick.
Orender Family Home for Funerals, 2643 Old Bridge Road, Manasquan, was in charge of arrangements.
A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, Sept. 29 at 9:30 a.m.
Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover.

Cornelius ‘Jerry’ Eugene Golding
Cornelius “Jerry” Eugene Golding 88, of Punta Gorda, Fla. formerly of Spring Lake, died Saturday, Sept. 17 in Punta Gorda, Fla.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y. Jerry lived in Spring Lake before moving to Punta Gorda.
He was a gifted athlete and musician. He went to college on and Athletic Scholarship to St. Francis College, later transferring to and graduating from the Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, N.Y.
He went on to serve in the Merchant Marine, serving with valor during World War II and surviving the sinking of his ship in the Mediterranean Sea. After leaving the Merchant Marine and U.S. Naval Reserve, he returned home and began a long career in law enforcement as an investigator.
He served as a senior investigator of the City of New York’s District Attorney’s Office, the New York States Attorney General’s Office and the N.Y.P.D. before he retired.
He was an accomplished pianist, vocalist and all around gifted musician. His music brought him, and those close to him, great joy.
Cornelius was predeceased by his beloved wife Evelyn, a sister Joan Hastings, a son and daughter, Cornelius and Helen.
Surviving are his two daughters, Agnes and Mary Golding, two sons, Kevin and Kenneth Golding, 17 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and a sister, Loretta Kivlen.
Visiting will be Saturday, Oct. 1, from 8-9 a.m. at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Highway 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall.
A funeral Mass will be offered at 9:30 a.m. at St. Catharine’s Church, Spring Lake.
Committal will follow in St. Catharine’s Cemetery, Sea Girt.
Frank R. Wesolowski
Frank R. Wesolowski, 86, of Lakewood, formerly of Brielle, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 24 at his home with his family by his side.
Frank was born and raised in Irvington and resided in Livingston, Cherry Hill, Scotch Plains and Brielle before moving to Lakewood in 1992.
Frank was a World War II Army veteran, receiving the Bronze Star and a Purple Heart.
Frank received a B.S. from Seton Hall University in 1948.
After returning to civilian life he was branch manager for Burroughs Corporation for over 25 years.
He was then vice president of sales for the Eastern Region for Visual Technologies.
Frank also served as mayor of Brielle for two terms from 1984-1992.
He also served as state commander for Catholic War Veterans, and was cited twice for his “Excellence in Leadership.”
Frank was an avid reader, enjoyed all sports and thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family.
Frank was predeceased by his first wife, Marcella Wesolowski.
He is survived by his current wife of 32 years, Ann Wesolowksi of Lakewood, a daughter and her husband, Mary and Alan Jones, of Grand Rapids, Mich., two sons and their spouses, Dan and Anna Wesolowski, of California and Chuck and Jill Wesolowski, of Madison, Ala.; two stepsons, Charles Behm and his wife Karen, and Tom Behm, all of Morristown; and one stepdaughter, Mary Beth Westrol and her husband, Randy, of Brielle.
Frank is also survived by his sister, Dorothy “Dot” Symanski and her husband, Phil, of Reading, Pa.; 12 grandchildren Matthew, Andrew, Julianne, Charlene, Libby, Wanda, Danny, Jacey, Doug, Haley, Heather, and Jason; three great grandchildren, Grant, Sabrina and Julian and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to call Thursday, Sept. 29 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Orender Family Home for Funerals, 2643 Old Bridge Road, Manasquan.
A Mass of Christian Burial
will be 9:30 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 30 at St. Martha’s Church, Point Pleasant.
Interment will follow at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown.

Rita Marie Stone
Rita Marie Stone [nee Smith] of Brick, formerly of, and with family in Manasquan Park, passed away peacefully on Sept.19 surrounded by her family.
Rita was born in Philadelphia on April 21, 1924 to James Alfred and Marion Smith.
In 1946, she married
her lifelong sweetheart Raymond Stone. They moved to the Jersey Shore in the early 50’s and together raised their four children living in Eatontown, Point Pleasant, and Manasquan Park.
Rita loved the beach, competitive bridge, and crossword puzzles. She was an avid reader with a great sense of humor, and ever ready with a good joke.
After many years as a full-time homemaker, Rita earned her real estate license and worked alongside Ray at his Foresight Agency, in Brielle. They retired in Brick, to Greenbrier I, and later to the Worthington Assisted Living.
Rita was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved daughter Kathy, and her sister Joan Riener.
She is survived by her soulmate Ray, with whom she recently celebrated 65 years of marriage. Also surviving to cherish her memory are daughter Tina [Ben] Stanton, Susan [John] Pelligra, son Chris [Sherri] Stone, and son-in-law Paul [Julie] Stalknecht. Rita has five grandchildren Amy, Kerry, and Tommy Stalknecht, Christopher Stone, and Anna Pelligra.
They will keep Grandma in their hearts forever.
Also surviving, brothers Ron [Rosemarie] Smith, Carl [Pat] Smith, and the many nieces and nephews with whom she held dear.
The family wishes to thank the attentive, professional, and caring staff at the Worthington Assisted Living for their years of kindness to both Rita and Ray, and to Vitas Hospice for their additional caring and support in Rita’s final weeks.
A gathering to remember Rita will be held on Saturday Oct. 8, from 2 - 5 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 2652 Highway 138, Wall Township, 07719 on the westbound side adjacent to the Rt. 18 north entrance.
Interment of cremains will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 11 at 11:15 a.m. at the Brig. General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown.
In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation to the American Cancer Society in memory of Rita’s daughter Kathy, her mother Marion, or any of our loved ones touched by cancer.
