Shari L. Hamill
Shari L. Hamill, 49, of Wall, passed away on Sunday, July 10 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune surrounded by her loving family.
Shari was born in Neptune and raised in Point Pleasant Borough.
She graduated from Point Pleasant Borough High School.
Shari went on to graduate from Brookdale School of Nursing.
She was employed at Jersey Shore University Medical Center working at the Rosa Pavilion.
Shari loved her work and her co-workers very much.
She loved to read and spend time with her children. Shari enjoyed watching her son wrestle.
Shari is survived by her loving husband, Donald, of Wall; her beloved children, Donald Hamill, Chelsey Hamill, Cassi Parr, all of Wall and Matthew Parr, of New York; and three stepchildren, Ryan Hamill, of Brick, Taryn and Lindsay Hamill, of Tampa, Fla.
She is also survived by her parents, Hugo and Ethel Yotka, of Toms River and three brothers and their spouses, Paul and Cathy Yotka, of Weyers Cave, Va., Christopher and Dana Yotka, of Toms River and Eugene and Mary Ann Yotka, of Cocoa, Fla.
Shari leaves behind several aunts, uncles and cousin and her loving friend and neighbor, Diane Hurley who has helped Shari and her family so much.
Relatives and friends are invited to call Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Orender Family Home for Funerals, 2643 Old Bridge Road, Manasquan.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, July 16 at West Belmar United Methodist Church.
Burial
will be private.
Patricia Ann Frey
Patricia Ann Frey [nee Martin], “Mama, ” formerly of Belmar, passed away peacefully at home on July 9 in Eatontown.
She was 61 years old.
Patricia worked for Atlantic Mills in Lakewood.
She was born in Neptune and lived there until moving to Eatontown.
Her favorite color was blue, she loved I Love Lucy and the Walton’s, camping, vacuuming, chocolate-covered cherries, being with her family, working, her morning coffee and paper, Christmas and teddy bears.
She was most proud of her family.
Patricia is predeceased by her father, George Martin Sr., her brother, Michael W. Martin and her brother-in-law, Michael S. McNulty.
She is survived by her mother, Mary Martin, her sons, Gary G Frey and his wife, Jill and William J. Frey IV, her sisters Kathy McNulty and Kellie Martin, her brother, George W. Martin Jr. and his wife, Carol, her brother-in-law, Wayne Layton, her nephews, Kristopher Layton and Michael S. McNulty Jr., her grandchildren, Gary G. Frey III and Katelyn J. Frey. She is also survived by her many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Reilly Funeral Home, 801 D Street, Belmar.
Committal will be private.
Lillian Mae Morton
Lillian Mae Morton, 91, of Manasquan, New Jersey, passed away Saturday, July 9 at Ocean Medical Center, Brick.
Born in Elizabeth, Mrs. Morton was a long time resident of Manasquan.
She was an active member of the Manasquan United Methodist Church. Lillian was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Manasquan First Aid Squad.
An avid golfer, Lillian belonged to the Bel Air Babes Golf group and the Spring Meadow Ladies Golf group.
She was a loving mother and grandmother.
She was predeceased by her husband, Richard D. Morton, who died in 2001 and her daughter, Barbara Joan Marschalk, in 2004.
She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Kubaitis Farley, of Point Pleasant; her grandchildren and their spouses, Nancy and John Brannon, Cynthia and James Karanassos, Diana and Tommy Whille, Kristen and Mike Kimak and Scott and Amanda Marschalk; and her great- grandchildren Jamie, Steven, Matthew, Sarah, Heather, Kylie, Sean, Caroline, Emily, Ella and Sarah.
Also surviving is her son-in-law, Paul Marschalk and his wife, Rose, and several nieces and nephews.
The O’Brien Funeral Home, Wall, was in charge of arrangements.
Interment will take place at a later date at Atlantic View Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made in Lillian’s name to either the Manasquan United Methodist Church or the Manasquan First Aid Squad, 65 Broad St., Manasquan.
Gaetano S. Paxia
Gaetano “Tommy” S. Paxia, 44, of Brick and a former resident of Wall Township, passed away suddenly on Wednesday July 6, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick.
Tommy was a self-employed contractor in Monmouth and Ocean counties for his entire working career.
Born in Yonkers, N.Y., he had graduated from Wall High School and lived in Wall Township until moving to Brick Township 20 years ago.
He was also a communicant of St. Rose RC Church, Belmar.
He was predeceased by his beloved mother, Anna Marie Paxia, in 2005.
Surviving is his father S. Bruno Paxia, of Brick, his sister and brother-in-law, Rosanna and Michael Kepler, of Wall, his two nieces, Mia and Micayla Kepler and his longtime companion, Kim Barney, of Brick.
The O’Brien Funeral Home, Wall, was in charge of arrangements.
Private burial was with his mother in St. Anne’s Cemetery, Wall.
Barbara Lynn Somers
Former Wall resident Barbara Lynn Somers, 67, died on July 4, at home in Wescosville, Pa., surrounded by her family.
She courageously fought a hard, determined battle with cancer, which she endured with tremendous dignity.
Barbara was born on April 25, 1944, in Neptune to Raymond and Ethel Slocum.
Barbara accomplished whatever she set her mind to with class and perfection.
She was a talented pianist and organist, and began performing as church organist as a girl.
She served as music director at Full Gospel Church, Wall, for many years, and church secretary and bookkeeper at varied times.
Her passion was to worship her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and she devoted much time creating music programs that enabled others to unite and do the same.
Barbara attended Central Bible College, Springfield, Mo., and devoted her life to sharing the love of Christ with all.
She married
Thomas Kenneth Somers on Jan. 1, 1964, in Neptune.
Her interests included family, sewing, scrapbooking, cryptoquote puzzles, computers, travel, exercising and reading.
She devoted much selfless time and energy as a caregiver to family members, including her mother for several years.
Her radiance and joy were contagious to all around her.
She is survived and will be greatly missed by her mother, Ethel Slocum, of Allenwood; her husband, Thomas, of Wescosville, Pa.; daughter and son-in-law Karen and Jonathan Dech, of Macungie, Pa.; grandchildren, Cassandra, Carter, Preston, Ethan, Sophie, and Olivia; son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Pamela Somers, of Neptune; grandchildren Gabriella and Thomas; brother, Raymond Slocum, of Wall, extended family and many treasured friends.
Barbara was a wife of noble character, and “Her children arise and call her blessed, her husband also, and he praises her: Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.” [Proverbs 31:28, 29].

George Francis Hay Jr.
George Francis Hay, Jr., 88, of Spring Lake and Sea Girt died on Friday July 1, at the Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune.
Mr. Hay was an insurance broker for Prudential in Newark for many years before retiring in 1998. He was a commissioned officer in the U.S. Navy during WWII from 1943 to 1946. Mr. Hay was a graduate of Nichols College in Dudley Mass and Tufts University in Medford Mass. He was a member of St. Mark’s RC Church in Sea Girt and the Manasquan Elks Lodge No. 2534. Born in Greenwich Village and raised in Teaneck. He resided in Demarest and Cresskill before moving to the Jersey Shore in 1963.
Predeceased by his loving wife Jeanne Marie Hay in 1994 and daughter Patricia Hay in 2007.
Surviving are his sons George Peter Hay of Brooklyn, Paul Francis Hay and his wife Elisa of Chatham, daughters Mary Jean Lopez and her husband Thomas of Sea Girt, Caroline Marie Hay of Tarrytown, N.Y. and Margaret F. Hay-Dipple and her husband Charles of Manasquan. He also leaves his sister Anita Guglielmo of Spring Lake and three grandchildren Katherine, Elizabeth and Lauren.
