Henry Johnson Stines
Henry Johnson Stines, 86, of Weatherford, Texas, died Thursday, Dec. 9, with his family at his bedside at Odyssey Hospice Center, Fort Worth, Texas, from complications of a massive stroke three days earlier.
Mr. Stines, “Hank, ” was born on Aug. 20, 1924 in West Belmar, at the home of his late mother and father, Josephine A. and Earl W. Stines.
Mr. Stines lived in various areas of New Jersey for over 70 years. He attended Monmouth University in Long Branch, N.J.
After serving for over three years, Henry was honorably discharged as a Yeoman Second Class in the U.S. Navy during World War II where he was honored with four medals.
On Sept. 21, 1946 he married
his wife, Rosalie Lois Stines [Knapp], in Manasquan. They celebrated their 64th anniversary this past September.
After retiring in Madison, N.J. following 45 years of working for GPU/JCP&L in Asbury Park and Morristown, N.J., he moved with his wife to Point Pleasant, then to Anderson S.C. for 7 years and had been living in Weatherford, TX for 8 years when he died.
Mr. Stines was very active through the years. He was a Fire Chief and a member of Wall Fire Company No. 1 in Wall, from 1946-1954. He was a 60+ year member of the Wall-Spring Lake Masonic Lodge in Spring Lake and a member of the Ocean Chapter Eastern Star, N.J. In addition, he was a long-time member of the Madison, N.J. Presbyterian Church and a member of the American Legion.
Hank and Lois were active square dancers and were members of three different clubs. He was a leader in Cub Scouts and Indian Guides. He was an avid league bowler from 1950-1984 winning several trophies. He very much enjoyed golfing and got his first and only hole in one at age 72.
Mr. Stines was preceded in death by: his parents, Earl W. and Josephine A. Stines, his sister Earlene Stines Hill, his daughter Susan Carol deButts, and his daughter, Cynthia Ann Sveda.
Henry is survived by his wife, Rosalie Lois Stines, and two sisters, Francis Bloodgood, West Belmar, N.J. and Elizabeth Geilfuss, Bedford, Mass. In addition, his son, Frederick Earl Stines of Lawrenceville, GA [including his wife Emily Ross, and their children, Bryce Frederick Stines and Henry Max Stines], his daughter, Michele Stines Wilfer and her husband Harry Wilfer.
He also leaves behind additional grandchildren, Dale DiSarno, Fla; Andrew DiSarno, Ga; Nicole Rotter, Calif; son-in-Law Ken Sveda and grandson, Damian Sveda, TX. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews who adored him.
Mr. Stines will be remembered by his family, friends and neighbors as fun-loving and everyone’s friend and confidant.

Constance Felice
Constance “Connie” Felice [née Patti], 80, of Neptune, passed away at her home on Thursday, Dec. 9.
Mrs. Felice was born and raised in New Brunswick, and had lived in Point Pleasant and Tampa, Fla, before moving to Neptune in 1999.
Mrs. Felice was a graduate of Drake Business College, the New Jersey School of Real Estate and Coldwell Banker College. She became a licensed Real Estate Agent in 1988, and was employed by Coldwell Banker Real Estate at their Wall/Spring Lake office, where she was a multi-million Dollar producer, known for her dedication to her customers. She had received many awards for excellence during her career, including numerous Coldwell Banker President’s Elite Awards, as well as several Million Dollar Club awards. She was also active in Habitat for Humanity and Clean Ocean.
Mrs. Felice was predeceased by her parents, Salvatore and Josephine Patti, a brother, Joseph Patti, two sisters, Catherine Martin and Margaret Wilczynski and her former husband, Capt. Joseph Felice. She is survived by her son, Joseph Felice and wife Susan, of Neptune; daughter Joanne Taylor and husband Michael, of Toms River, and daughter Sally Wayne and husband Neil, of Brick. In addition, she is survived by her grandchildren, Jade and Raimondo Taylor, Juliet Felice, and Megan, Joseph and Madison Wayne, as well as her brothers, Anthony and Sam Patti, and her sisters, Stephanie Hundert and Mary Lemus. She is also survived by many loving cousins, nieces and nephews.

John J. Haney
John J. [Jack] Haney, Deacon, 78, of Point Pleasant, went on his final journey to the Lord surrounded by his children and beloved wife on Dec. 14.
He was born on June 4, 1932 in Atlantic City, N.J. to Helen [Zilberman] and John J. Haney, and lived there for 12 years, leaving in 1944. He then moved to Schenectady, N.Y., where he attended the Nott Terrace High School, graduating in 1950. He joined the U.S. Navy, serving in the Korean War, where he was First Class Petty Officer serving on the Ticonderoga and the Intrepid in the Mediterranean.
Upon leaving the Navy, he started his insurance career with the Keystone Insurance Company in Philadelphia, later joining Glens Falls Insurance in Atlantic City, New Jersey, joining Oliver and Company Adjusters in Atlantic City, where he worked from 1969 to 1972, then he moved to King of Prussia and later in Manasquan, until 1985. In 1985, he started his own business with his wife, Atlantic Adjustment Associates, Inc. serving the needs of the insurance companies. He was an expert in no-fault claims handling.
He was very active in civic organizations while living in Atlantic City, such as the Lions Club, and running various bingos for St. Joseph College.
After he had his kidney removed, on Nov. 20, 1981, he then started to run, joining the Shore A.C. and running in many area races; Lake Takanassee, 5K, 10K, and marathons, including the Jersey Shore Marathon, Atlantic City Marathon, and later the Boston Marathon, bringing his six sons to participate with him. He won the “Comeback Athlete of The Year” for the Shore A.C. in 1982. He enjoyed fishing, crabbing, clamming and boating of any kind, cruising and taking vacations to Cancun, Mexico and the Caribbean with his family.
Jack gave up running to pursue his vocation in the Diaconate in the Diocese of Trenton, starting in the program in 1985. He was ordained on May 13, 1989 [his wedding anniversary date] in St. Mary’s Cathedral in Trenton, New Jersey. He was deacon at St. Martha’s Church in Point Pleasant since then, and serviced the community of St. Martha’s for the past 25 years, handling altar services, doing baptisms, weddings, wake services and finally the R.C.I.A. program.
Jack is predeceased by his father and mother, sister Elizabeth Caswell and brother Richard Haney.
He was a devoted father, grandfather and uncle. He is survived by his friend and love of his life, Rita [Bartolini], his six sons, Joseph and his wife Tamara, Kenneth and his wife Andrea, Richard, Brian and his fiancee Debbi, John J. Haney and Daniel and his wife Kristen. He has 9 grandchildren, Alex, Tyler, Leesa, Emily, Joey, Alexis, Fauve, James and Sophia, and 10th due in August. Also, his brother William and his wife Patti, his sister Jacqueline Kahn and her husband Donald, and brother-in-law Richard Caswell. Brother-in-law Daniel Bartolini, sisters-in-law Gloria Rando and her husband Robert, Josephine Zuccarino and her husband John, Mary Maccagnano and her husband Paul, and Janis Katz and her husband Mark; hs aunt Louise Zilbermanm and his beloved mother-in-law Katherine Bartolini. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Viewings were held at St. Martha’s Church, 3800 Herbertsville Road, Point Pleasant, on Thursday, Dec. 16 and on Friday, Dec. 17.
A Mass of Christian Burial
will be held Saturday, at 8:45 a.m. at the church.
Burial
will be at Holy Cross cemetery in Mays Landing.

Martha McSherry Whittles
Martha McSherry Whittles, 59, of Point Pleasant, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 8, at her home.
Born in and formerly of Kearny, she has lived in Point Pleasant for 35 years.
She was predeceased by her father, Norman McSherry and by her brother, Jeff McSherry.
Surviving are her beloved husband, Michael Whittles; two sons, Michael Whittles and his wife Diana of Hoboken and Steven Whittles and his wife Kristine of Leonardo; her mother, Martha McSherry of Brick; her sister, Norma Tortorello and her husband Frank of Brick; and four grandsons, Patrick, Brian, Sean, and Colin. She is also survived by two best friends, Nancy Furnback and Patricia DeMarco.

Daniella M. Daniels
Daniella M. Daniels, 36 of Philadelphia, Pa. passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2010 in Philadelphia, Pa.
Daniella was born in Point Pleasant, and had resided in Wall Township for many years, attending Wall High School and was a Flag Twirler for the Color Guard. She was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Asbury Park.
She was predeceased by her father Kenneth Daniels, Jr. Surviving is her mother Evelyn Daniels of Point Pleasant, her son James Daniels of Point Pleasant and her brother Kenneth Daniels III, of Howell.
All services will be private, at the convenience of the family, with burial in Wall Church Cemetery, Spring Lake Heights.

Dolores A. Barrett
Dolores A. Barrett, 72, of Point Pleasant, passed on Saturday, Dec. 11, at Ocean Medical Center Hospice, Brick.
Born in Newark, Dee lived in Maplewood before moving to Point Pleasant in 1960.
She was past president and 50-year member of the Point Pleasant Chapter of Deborah, and a member of the New Jersey Chapter of the Reserve Officers Association.
Dee was a vivacious, fun-loving, beautiful woman who carried herself with class and grace. She loved to travel with her husband and visited all seven continents. She was a very thoughtful and generous person who lived to give and to make people happy. Besides her family, her greatest joys were her beautiful flower garden and loving dogs.
She was predeceased by her parents, her granddaughter, Kelly Monahan, and her second husband, George Lee.
Surviving are her beloved husband, Col. John L. Barrett; her daughter, Karen Monahan and her husband, James, of Point Pleasant; her son, John Stoll, and his wife, Jane, of Brick; her stepsons, Gerald E. Lee and his wife, Colleen, of Point Pleasant, and John Barrett and his wife, Michele, of Annapolis, Md.; her stepdaughter, Shelly Campbell, and her husband, Phillip, of Freehold; and her grandchildren, Jennifer and Jessica Monahan, Samantha and Stephanie Stoll, Brian Lee, Bridget DeLuise, Christopher, Tommy and Courtney Campbell, Jack and Alex Barrett, Erin Normile and Patrick Lee.
Burial
will be at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va.

Helen D. Squier
Helen Donovan Squier, formerly of Point Pleasant, 90, died Dec. 11. She was born in North Plainfield on Sept. 10, 1920.
A loving mother and grandmother to three daughters - Sarah Rivera and her husband, James, of New Hope, Pa.; Patricia Clifford and her husband, James, of Rutland, Vt.; and Lissa McGowan and her husband, Joel, of Columbus - a son, Ross Squier and his wife, Edwina, of Little Egg Harbor; 10 grandchildren, Alessandra, Casey, Mackensie, Kelli, Matthew, Lindsay, Marybeth, Sean, Dana and Ryan; and two great-grandchildren, Katie and Samantha.
She was predeceased by her husband, Charles Ward Squier, in 2010 and a son, Timothy Squier, in 1971.
A graveside service will be held at a later date at Springdale United Methodist Church Cemetery, Warren Township.

John E. McWeeney
John E. “Jack” McWeeney, of Avon, passed away peacefully in West Palm Beach Fla. on Dec. 11.
He was 86 years old and lived a wonderful and full life.
He was born in New Haven Conn., and was an outstanding athlete, earning all state honors in both football and baseball. He was drafted by the Cleveland Browns in football but went on to play professional baseball for both the New York Giants and the Saint Louis Cardinals. He lived in Avon for 63 years and was the town’s water superintendent for over 40 years where he had the opportunity to meet most of the town’s residents.
Later in retirement, he became known as “Monday morning Jack.” He was a frequent visitor to the spring training facilities of the Montreal Expos and the Florida Marlins, where he built friendships with many of the players.
A devoted family man, he is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Jean Howard McWeeney; his daughter, Jill Reilly and her husband, Jim, of Belmar; his son, John E. McWeeney Jr. and his wife, Kathy, of Belmar; brother, Alfred McWeeney and his wife, Kath, y of Jacksonville Fla., his grandson, Jeffrey Reilly and his wife, Tara, of Manahawkin, grandson, Brendan Reilly and his wife, Erin, of Spring Lake Heights, grandson, Patrick Reilly and his wife, Kristen, of Avon, grandson, John McWeeney Reilly and his wife, Peggy, of Avon, grandson, Andrew McWeeney and his wife, Elsa, of Washington D.C., grandson, John E. McWeeney III, of San Diego Calif., granddaughter, Brianne McWeeney, of Boston, Mass., and his close adopted grandson, Kevin “KJ” Kelly Jr., of Neptune City, and 14 great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial
will be celebrated on Thursday, Dec. 16 at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Elizabeth RC Church, in Avon.
The Reilly Funeral Home, Belmar, was in charge of arrangements. Committal will be at Saint Catharine’s Cemetery, in Sea Girt.
