Margaret Holohan
Margaret Holohan 92, of Belmar, died Thursday, Dec. 27 at Tower Lodge Care Center, Wall. Born in Newark, she lived in Newark until moving to South Belmar in 1958. She worked for the Newark Evening News for approximately 20 years; then as a key punch operator for Allied Signal in Eatontown until her retirement in 1982. She was a devout parishioner of St. Rose Church, Belmar.

Surviving family members include her brother-in-law, Edward McCandless of Belmar, and 23 loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews from the Holohan, McCandless, DiOrio, McLaughlin, Baldwin and Neill families.

Margie was a devoted daughter, sister and aunt who will be lovingly remembered for a life lived with simplicity and dedication to her family, and to her faith.

Special thanks to the staff at Tower Lodge Care Center for their compassionate care, and to Eddie and Lorraine McCandless for their caring and steadfast commitment to Margie.

Visiting will be Friday, from 6-8 p.m. at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by her nephew, Fr. Kevin Baldwin, on Saturday, 8:30 a.m. at St. Rose Church, Belmar. Burial will follow in St. Catharine’s Cemetery, Wall.

Isabel Lillian Munro
Isabel Lillian Munro 92, of Spring Lake Heights, died Thursday, Dec. 27, at Geraldine Thompson Care Center, Wall. Born and raised in Irvington, Isabel lived there before moving to Spring Lake Heights in 1956. She was a communicant of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Manasquan, and Evangelical and Reform Church, Irvington. She played in the Bell Choir and taught Sunday School for over 60 years. Isabel was very active in the PTA and was a Girl Scout leader. She assisted in founding the Spring Lake Heights Elementary School Library.

Isabel was predeceased by her beloved husband Thomas Duncan Munro in 1994 and her sister Edna Bruton and her brother George A. Nichtern.

Surviving are her five children; Dale Katherine Wallace of Charlotte, N.C., Elaine Robin Maccanico and her husband Gavino of Spring Lake Heights, Pamela Jill Munro of Charlotte, N.C., Duane Thomas Munro of Spring Lake Heights, and Craig Scott Munro of Wall. She also leaves eight grandchildren; Garrett R. Wallace, David Leigh Wallace, Renee R. Felise, Darren D. Maccanico, Devin G. Maccanico, Brooke G. Munro, Duncan P. Munro, Thomas D. Munro and numerous great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was offered Sunday, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 6 Osborn Ave., Manasquan. Committal will be private. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her name to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church Sunday School, 6 Osborn Ave., Manasquan. O’Brien Funeral Home, Wall is in charge of arrangements.

Thordis Johnsen Hansen
Thordis Johnsen Hansen, 88, died peacefully on the morning of Dec. 25, at her family’s home in Manasquan. She was born in Kvinesdal, Norway on July 30, 1924, being the oldest of five children.

In 1953 she immigrated to Brooklyn, N.Y. with her husband Eivind Johnsen. While living in Brooklyn, she established a well known, successful Scandinavian-American restaurant, which was known as the Atlantic Restaurant. She was known for her expertise in Norwegian delicacies, the culinary arts and was successful for 30 years. Thordis enjoyed knitting and cooking for friends and family. She was a member of the Scandinavian/American Business Association and the The Sons of Norway/Faerder lodge No. 109.

Thordis is pre-deceased by her first husband Eivind Johnsen in 1974 and her second husband, Gunnar Winter Hansen in 1995. She is survived by two daughters, Mary O’Malley and her husband Scott and Greta Johnsen. Two sisters, Jenny and Asbjorg; Five grandchildren, Eric and his wife Julie, Kristin, Bryan, Stephen, John and two great-grandchildren Eric and Jake. Thordis will be remembered by everyone who met her and missed by all that loved her. We wish to thank all the doctors, nurses and personal caregivers who helped to make her comfortable and treated her with such dignity. We treasure all the time we had with her and keep her always in our hearts.

Graveside Services were held at Oceanview cemetery in Staten Island. The Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, 39 South Street in Manasquan is in charge with the arrangements.

Frank E. Schatzman
Frank E. Schatzman, of Summerfield, Fla., with family in the area, died peacefully at home on Monday, Dec. 24, with his beloved wife Jane by his side.

Frank was born and grew up in Newark. He attended both Seton Hall Prep and Seton Hall University.

While at Seton Hall Prep, he played varsity baseball and had the honor of trying out for the New York Yankees. During his years at Seton Hall University, he was a member of the ROTC, becoming the Company Commander of the Pershing Rifles.

Upon graduation in 1955, he received the honor of Distinguished Military Graduate. He was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the US Army and retired as a Captain.

After military service, Frank had a successful 30 year career at the Western Electric Company as a Production Supervisor. He then moved to Vermont where he started a modular homes business. He was also an active AARP volunteer. In 2004 Frank and Jane retired to Summerfield, Fla. Frank was a parishioner at St. Theresa’s R.C. Church in Belleview, Fla.

Frank was predeceased by his parent’s Frank E. and Agnes [Bradley] Schatzman and his sister Virginia A. Geruth. He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Jane K. Schatzman and seven children including Colleen Moberg [husband Greg] of Sea Girt, Susan Schatzman of Aberdeen, John Cadott [wife Madonna] of Manasquan, Robert Schatzman [wife Nancy] of Sea Girt, Joseph Cadott [wife Deborah] of Howell, Jeffrey Cadott of Farmingdale, and James Cadott [wife Tina] of Brielle.

He was also blessed with 18 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Memorial Masses will be on Friday, Jan. 4 at 10 a.m. at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Belleview, Fla., and on Saturday, Feb. 2 at 11 a.m. at St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Sea Girt. Burial will be at the Gate of Heaven cemetery in East Hanover.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made in Frank’s memory to the St. Theresa’s Building Fund. The address for St. Theresa Catholic Church is 11528 S.E. Hwy. 301, Belleview, Fla., 34420.

Felix A. Crincoli
Dr. Felix A. Crincoli, Point Pleasant Beach, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 26, at the New Jersey Veterans Memorial Home in Edison.

Born in Elizabeth in 1919 to the late Mary Marshott and Anthony Crincoli, Felix lived in Chicago while attending the University of Illinois College of Optometry. He settled to Point Pleasant Beach in 1970.

He served in the United States Army during WWII in North Africa as a Senior Tech prior to his honorable discharge.

Dr. Crincoli was a well-known Optometrist in the City of Elizabeth for over 50 years. He served as the City Eye Examiner for over 40 years and received numerous awards for his community service. He was bestowed with a testimonial dinner hosted by many dignitaries including the city’s mayor in the late 50s and was also widely known to decorate his office window with seasonal and regional themes with the assistance of late wife, Mary Jane.

Dr. Crincoli also served in a number of civic roles, including; Police Commissioner for the City of Elizabeth, Past President of the Elizabeth Lions Club, Past President of the Roselle NJ Golf Club, Past President of the Vallatese Italo-American Club and most recently was recognized by Elizabeth’s Mayor Dunn on Feb. 21, 1992 with an official proclamation and “Salute to Mary Jane and Dr. Felix Crincoli Day” In addition, he was a former communicant of St. Anthony’s church.

His beloved wife of nearly 70 years died on Oct. 24, 2010. He is survived by three children; Anthony of Florida, Pamela Cannone of Pennsylvania, and Philip of Point Pleasant, seven grandchildren; Brian Cannone, Stephanie Albanese, Michael Crincoli, Matthew Crincoli, Philip Crincoli, Jr., Daniel Crincoli and Thomas Crincoli. Also surviving are five great grandchildren; Gianna, Emilio, Marco, Nicholas and Johnny.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Jan. 4, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown.

Family and friends may attend the visitation hours on Friday from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield, 07080.

Kathleen Bauer
Kathleen “Kathie” Bauer nee Maltese, 70, Bay Head, passed away on Dec. 26, at Ocean Medical Center.

Born in Paterson to the late Anthony and Catherine Maltese, she is an alumnus of St. Bonaventure University, Olean, N.Y. Kathie went on to marry her beloved husband Roger Bauer in June of 1966, and resided in Upper Saddle River where she spent time working for the township as a secretary. She spent time working for Amica Insurance Company, as a customer service representative, as well as at the Sun Bright Dye and Finishing Company. Kathie dedicated herself to raising her two sons and caring for her family; she took great pride in her home, and enjoyed traveling with friends. Mr. and Mrs. Bauer would split their time between Upper Saddle River and Bay Head for 20 years, moving full time to Bay Head 10 years ago, joining the Trinity Outreach Ministries Church of Toms River. Kathie enjoyed expanding her faith in bible study groups, and was President of the Woman’s Aglow Fellowship of Brick.

Surviving are her beloved husband Roger Bauer, her loving sons, Chuck and Doreen Bauer of Brick and Jason and Kristy Bauer of Airmont, N.Y.; her dear sister Geraldine Redling of Bay Head, her brother Anthony Maltese of Saddle River, her cherished grandchildren, Charles, Olivia, Lucas, Nicholas, and Isabella, and many dear friends.

O’Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick, was in charge of arrangements.

Josephine Reilly Brown
Josephine Reilly Brown Stevenson [Jerrie] of Bay Head, and a long-time resident of Montclair, died on Saturday, Jan. 5 at Arden Courts in West Orange.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 19 at 11 a.m. at St. James Episcopal Church, 581 Valley Road in Upper Montclair.

Jerrie was born in Montclair and graduated from the Montclair Kimberly Academy and the Marjorie Webster Junior College in Washington D.C. She studied ballet in New York City with George Balanchine’s Ballet Society, a predecessor company of the New York City Ballet. She married the late William Turner Brown Jr. and is the mother of Bud Brown of Virginia Beach, Va. [spouse: Kitty], Patricia Brown-Feighery of Philadelphia, Pa. [Rob], Carolyn Brown-Kalthoff of Upper Montclair [Michael], and Andy Brown of Wyckoff [Stephanie]. The couple had nine grandchildren.

Jerrie is also survived by her sisters, Janet Finney and Jarvis Nolan, both of San Diego, Calif., and her sister-in-law, Jackie Sherwood, of Scottsdale, Ariz. She was predeceased by her second husband, G. Barnes Stevenson of Bay Head.

Jerrie founded the Jerrie Brown School of Ballet in Upper Montclair, where she taught for 25 years. She was a member of the Junior League of Montclair, the Montclair Operetta Club, the Montclair Golf Club, and the Bay Head Yacht Club.

Carol Apen Zima
Carol Apen Zima, 70, of Point Pleasant, died Wednesday, Jan. 2 at Ocean Medical Center.

Born in Newark, to the late Michael and Eleanor Apen, she lived there and later in Edison, residing in Point Pleasant for 20 years.

For 32 years, Mrs. Zima worked for First Fidelity Bank, Newark, and retired as branch manager. She was a member of the Women’s Republican Club of Mantoloking-Bay Head.

Surviving are her beloved husband, of thirty years, Thomas Zima; his children; and grandchildren, Briana, Erik, and Michael Zima, Noah and Nicolas Magel, and Lance and Logan Zima.

Pable Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant was in charge of arrangements. Cremation was private.

Lois H. Forsyth
Lois H. Forsyth, 96, of Bay Head, died Saturday, Jan. 5 at Ocean Medical Center, Brick.

Born in Rutherford, to the late Louis and Gertrude [Schroeder] Huesmann, she had lived in Rutherford and Mantoloking before moving to Bay Head in 1937.

Mrs. Forsyth was a self-employed seamstress. She collected sea glass, driftwood and angel figurines and now she is an angel. She was active in the Bay Head community and was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Bay Head.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Joseph B. Forsyth in 2000 and her son Mark A. Forsyth in 1999.

Surviving are her sons, Joseph and his wife Pamela of Connecticut and Timothy and his wife Susan of Delray Beach, Fla.; her daughter, Margo Wright and her husband Gordon of Delray Beach, Fla.; one sister, Peggy Haehler of California; nine grandchildren, Gordon Wright, Vicky Hiering, Phillip Wright, Lisa Burke, Leigh Forsyth, Sarah Kern, Jason Forsyth, Casey Forsyth and Jack Forsyth; and three great-grandchildren, Lauren Hiering, Jamie Hiering and Hannah Franco and her loving friend and caregiver, Nadia.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date.

Dorothy Clark Haver
Dorothy Clark Haver, 88, of Brick, with family in Point Pleasant, died peacefully Monday, Jan. 1.

Born and raised in Watertown, N.Y., Dorothy moved to Manasquan in 1964 and in her later years resided at Brandywine Assisted Living in Brick.

Dorothy was predeceased by her husband Ellsworth “Bud” Haver and one brother Edward Clark.

She is survived by her four children William E. Haver of Newton, Bruce E. Haver of Stuart, Fla., Susan L. Pharo of Stuart, Fla. and Sally I. Bates of Point Pleasant, as well as five grandchildren: Jennifer Docherty, Lafayette; Lauren Scott, Stuart, Fla.; Sean Bates, Point Pleasant; Katie Cascio, Baltimore, Md.; and Ryan Pharo, Stuart, Fla.; and three great-grandchildren, Clara and Lillian Docherty and Nathaniel Scott.

Dorothy was employed as a telephone operator in Watertown prior to marriage. She was a devoted mother to her family and was a friend to everyone she met. In later years Dorothy was involved in P.T.A., Manasquan Ladies Auxiliary, and worked various retail positions.

Services will be conducted privately under the direction of Colonial Funeral Home, Brick.
