Olga [nee Maiocco] Petitti
Lavallette resident Olga [nee Maiocco] Petitti died Thursday May 14 at home.
She was 93 years old.
Born in Faeto, Italy, she lived in Irvington summering in Lavallette since 1957 moving to Lavallette in 1978.
She was a homemaker.
She was a parishioner of St. Pio Pietrelcina Roman Catholic Church, Lavallette, and a member of the Rosary Society and Catholic Daughters. She was also a member of Lavallette Seniors, Seaside Heights Italian American Club, Deborah Foundation, Lavallette Voters and Taxpayers and the Irvington General Hospital Auxiliary.
Having had limited opportunity for formal education herself, Olga instilled in her children a love of learning and a desire for achievement leading them to judicial, educational and financial professions.
She was predeceased by her husband, Nicholas, in 2005.
Surviving is one son, Robert A., and his wife, Judy, of Red Bank; and three daughters Rosemarie Annunziata and her husband, Joseph, of Fairfax, Va., Amelia Quaremba and her husband, James, of Slingerlands, N.Y., and Joanne Filippone and her late husband, Richard, of West Point Island, Lavallette. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Elise, Catherine, Christine, Matthew, Meghan, Adrienne, Nicholas, Danielle, and Robert C.; and four great-grandchildren Celia, Ryder, Olivia, and Aidan.
The Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, Lavallette, was in charge of arrangements. Entombment took place at St. Joseph Cemetery, Toms River.

Lawrence Henry Simpson
Brick resident Lawrence Henry Simpson, whose daughter lives in Point Pleasant, died Saturday, May 16, in Meridian Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Brick Township.
He was 85 years old.
Born in New York City in 1924, Larry served in the U.S. Navy in World War II in the Pacific, and after his discharge in 1945 he began his career as a professional actor and singer performing in clubs in Florida, the Poconos and in summer stock.
Larry owned the ’76 Pub in New York City for many years, and moved to New Jersey in 1968, and to Brick in 1983.
Combining his love of singing with a wry sense of humor and wit, Larry was known to the family as “the Irish tenor” because of his beautiful voice. He loved to make people laugh, entertaining family and friends throughout the years, most recently at his 40th wedding anniversary party.
Larry loved to spend time with his family, especially watching his grandchildren smile.
He was a member of the VFW Post No. 8867, the American Legion Post No. 348 and the DAV, and was a communicant at St. Dominic’s Church.
Larry was predeceased by his sisters, Rosaleen Spiesse and Eileen Fahy; and by his brother, Kevin Simpson.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lois; and daughters, Colleen Simpson, of Point Pleasant and Erin Simpson Beelitz and her husband, Jason, of Brick; and his grandsons, Sean, Aidan and Declan Beelitz; his brother, Thomas Simpson, of Concord, N.C.; and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins, both in the U.S. and in Ireland.
O’Brien Funeral Home, Brick, was in charge of the arrangements.

Frank Duvak
Point Pleasant resident Frank Duvak died Monday, May 18 in Claremont Care Center, Point Pleasant.
He was 81 years old.
He was born in Woodbridge and lived in Fords for 45 years before moving to Point Pleasant five years ago.
Mr. Duvak was in the Army during World Wara II.
He was a first class machinist for General Dynamics, Avenel, and for Thul Machine, Plainfield.
He was a member of the VFW, in Point Pleasant Beach Post No. 4715
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Margaret Piosko Duvak; his daughter and son-in-law, Diane M. and Roger Canary, of Point Pleasant; and his grandson, Ryan Canary.
The Van Hise & Callagan Funeral Home, Point Pleasant Beach, is in charge of arrangements. A funeral service will be held Friday, 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Entombment will be at Woodbridge Memorial Gardens, Woodbridge.

Edward Joseph Patnaude
Palm Beach, Fla. and Brielle resident Edward Joseph Patnaude died Saturday, March 14.
He was 74 years old.
He was born in Neptune to Edward J. Sr. and Marjorie Buhler Patnaude and spent his childhood with his brother, David, and sisters, Carol and Sharon, at the shore.
Edward went on to meet his wonderful and loving wife, Barbara Taylor, with whom he had two beautiful daughters, Marjorie and Cheryl.
Edward spent his early years as both a member and officer of the Manasquan JC’s, he was on the board of directors and the business advisory board of First National Bank [Toms River], was a member of the Manasquan River Yacht Club and member emeritus of the Manasquan River Golf Club, and he was given the title of Honorary Fire Chief of Ocean Beach Fire Company.
Edward was a proud pilot and a member of The Private Pilots Association, and his love of the water not only led him to owning and operating Ocean Beach Marinas and Pelican Harbor Marina, but also to be a president of the New Jersey Marine Trade Association and a past commodore of Old Port Yacht Club of North Palm Beach, Fla. He was an avid yachtsman and loved his time on the waters of the East Coast and islands of the coast of Florida.
He and his one true love, Barbara, enjoyed travels all over the world, often taking cruises to many exotic foreign ports. Edward adored and enjoyed his children and grandchildren, whom all shared his love of the water. His sweetness, laughter, and wit will be dearly missed by all who knew him and loved him.
Edward was predeceased by his parents, Edward J. Sr. and Marjorie; his father-in-law, John A. Taylor; and his brother, David Patnaude.
He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara, of North Palm Beach Fla.; daughters, Marjorie Patnaude, Belmar, and Cheryl Shaak and husband, Timothy, Brielle; his mother-in-law, Doris Taylor, Belmar; sisters, Carol Wickam and husband, Jay, St. James City, Fla., and Sharon Patnaude, Wall; sister-in-law, Patricia Patnaude, Cocoa Beach, Fla; and grandchildren, Robert M. Mangold, Jr. and Alexis Taylor Shaak; as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 20, from 2 to 6 p.m. at O’Brien Funeral Home, Highway 35, Wall. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, March 21, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment
will be private.

Lucille M. Durkin
Sea Girt resident Lucille M. Durkin died Tuesday, March 17 in Meridian Nursing Home, Wall.
She was 86 years old.
Born in Newark, she lived in Bloomfield before moving to Sea Girt 49 years ago.
Mrs. Durkin worked at Audrey’s Dress Shop in Manasquan for many years. She was an avid bridge player in many clubs in the area. Everyone who knew Lucille knew how important her family was to her.
Mrs. Durkin was predeceased by her husband, Joseph, in 2005 and her daughter, Joanne “Jody” Taylor, in 1978.
She is survived by two daughters, Debbie Ball and her husband Brian, of Brick, and Diane Beckerman and her husband Norton, of Arlington, Va.; her sister, Audrey Adams, of Wellsboro, Pa.; her five grandchildren, Deborah Muller and her husband Gene, Anne Cook, Sara Ball, Kevin Ball, and Christine Nicholson and her husband Dave; and her two great-grandchildren Sarah and Ryan Nicholson. Lucille is also survived by her special friend Margaret Coulombe.
Cremation will be private at the request of the family. The Neary Quinn Funeral Home, 39 South Street, Manasquan, is in charge of arrangements.

John J. Bennett
Spring Lake Heights resident John J. Bennett died Saturday, March 14 in the Arbors, Spring Lake.
He was 96 years old.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army and received a Bronze Star and the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal.
Before his retirement, he worked for 35 years as a banker for Chase Bank in New York.
He was a communicant at St. Catharine’s Church in Spring Lake.
Mr. Bennett was predeceased by his wife, Bernice Cosgrove Bennett.
He is survived by his son, Brad Liggitt, of Wall; his daughter, Joanne Maulding, of Mendham; his brother, Edward Bennett, of Tenafly; his sister, Kay Andrieu, of Wilmington, N.C.; seven grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Reilly Funeral Home, Belmar. Interment
was held at Whiting Memorial Park, Whiting.
In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Denis Building Fund, 90 Union Avenue, Manasquan 08736 would be appreciated.
Dorothea E. Travers
Spring Lake Heights resident Dorothea E. Travers died peacefully on Sunday, Feb. 8.
She was 85 years old.
She was born in Newark to Thomas and Elizabeth Costello, and later went on to meet her husband, the late Edward Travers.
Dorothea worked as a supervisor for PSE&G in Newark, and later went on to work at Brookdale Community College, Lincroft. She was a proud member of the Public Service Retired Employees Club.
Dorothea is survived by her devoted and loving daughter, Dorothea C. Travers, also of Spring Lake Heights.
A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, March 21 from 1 to 3 p.m. at O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Highway 35, Wall.
