R. Bradford Howe
Brielle resident R. Bradford Howe died Friday, Jan. 9 in his home.
He was 29 years old.
Brad, born in Point Pleasant, was a lifelong resident of Brielle. He was a graduate of Manasquan High School and also attended The Culinary Institute of America, Hyde Park, N.Y. and the French Culinary Institute of New York. As a chef, he worked locally at The Atlantic Club and the Shore Grill. He was a partner along with his father and brother in their memorabilia company PBS Sports. Brad, known to his family as “Mr. Basketball, ” was passionate about life, cared for others and will be remembered most for his great sense of humor and charismatic personality.
Brad was predeceased by his paternal grandparents Rodney and Jeanette Howe, and his maternal grandparents Ralph and Ann Albanese.
He is survived by his parents Steven and Diana Howe, Brielle, a brother Parker Howe, Brielle, and a sister Lauren Howe, New York City, N.Y.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 17 at the Orender Family Home for Funerals, 2643 Old Bridge Road, Manasquan. Internment will be private. Robert L. Anderson
Wall resident Robert L. Anderson died Thursday, Jan. 8 in his home.
He was 76 years old.
Born in Newark, he also lived in Irvington and Union before moving to Wall Township. A graduate of Stevens Institute of Technology, he was a member of the Chi Phi fraternity. Mr. Anderson was employed at AT&T in New York and New Jersey and was a retired Air Force Reserve Captain. He was a communicant of St. Mark’s Catholic Church.
He was predeceased by his parents, Waler and Antoinette Anderson and sister Marion Anderson.
Mr. Anderson was the beloved husband of Eileen Brunner Anderson. Surviving in addition are his six daughters, their husbands and children: Jill Anderson and Thomas Bowmaster and sons Brian and Kyle; Joyce and Chuck Winchester and daughters Lauren and Cathryn; Jayne and Matt Reinhart and children Matthew, Brianna and Nicholas; Janet and Steve Fiorina and children Margaret and Mark; Jennifer and Michael Hill and children Jonathan and JennaMarie; and Julie and Rick Schwenk.
Funeral arrangements were handled by O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Route 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall. A Mass of Christian Burial
was held at St. Mark’s Church. 215 Crescent Parkway, Sea Girt. Internment followed at the New Jersey Veterans Cemetery, Arneytown. If lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice or a favorite charity would be appreciated.
Sandra Irene Lazarakis
Brielle resident Sandra Irene Lazarakis died Wednesday, Jan. 7 in her home.
She was 55 years old.
Born in Point Pleasant Beach, she lived in Brielle most of her life.
She was a bartender at Petersen’s Riveria Inn in Brick and was a graduate of Manasquan High School in 1971.
Ms. Lazarakis was pre-deceased by her brother Gary in 1987.
She is survived by her parents Peter and Helen of Brielle, her brother Mark L. of Suffield, Conn., and her cousin Michelle Davis and her husband Roy of Brick.
A memorial service was held at the First Baptist Church in Manasquan. Cremation was private. Funeral arrangements were handled by the Neary Quinn Funeral Home, 39 South Street, Manasquan. .
Harry Egil Gjerde
Brick resident Harry Egil Gjerde, formerly of Wall, died Saturday, Jan. 10 at Green Acres Manor, Toms River.
He was 64 years old.
Harry was born in Stravanger, Norway and upon his arrival to the U.S. at the age of seven, his family originally resided in Brooklyn, N.Y. and then moved to Staten Island, N.Y.
He attended Brooklyn Tech and worked in the auto industry most of his life before his retirement. Prior to moving to Brick Township in 2004, he and his family lived in Wall Township for many years. Harry loved the outdoors, especially cycling.
He is predeceased by his mother, father and sister.
Harry is survived by his beloved wife of 23 years, Pamela; his son Eric Gjerde, his wife Lydia and sons Luke and Tor of Essex, Mass.; his step-daughter Robyn Brown-Baran, her husband Robert and son Austin Brown of Point Pleasant; two sister-in-laws along with their spouses, Gail and Bruce Bunt of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., and Daryl and Wayne Arsenault of Andover, Maine, along with several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by a brother-in-law Norman Hermansen, his children and grandchildren of Staten Island, as well as many relatives in Norway.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, 39 South Street, Manasquan. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Cancer Society. .
Nicholas J. McCoy Jr.
Brielle resident Nicholas J. McCoy Jr. died Monday, Jan. 12 at Sunnyside Manor, Wall.
He was 77 years old.
Mr. McCoy was an electrician with IBEW local 164 in Paramus until his retirement in 1994. He was a US Army Veteran during the Korean War from 1952-1954. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 3231 and the Manasquan Elks No. 2534. He was an usher and a member of the St. Denis RC Church in Manasquan. Born in New York City, N.Y., he was raised in Queens, N.Y. and lived in Newark and Colonia before moving to Brielle 13 years ago.
Surviving is his loving wife Jeanne B. [Nugent] of 50 years, son Nicholas J. III of South Amboy, daughters Kathleen Henry and her husband Jeffrey of Roselle Park, Patricia Yelenscics and her husband John of Edison, and Jeanne Leonardis and her husband Sal of Beach Haven. He also leaves sisters Alice Perry of Spring Lake Heights, Betsey Geiger of West Orange, Patricia Moore of Houston, Texas, and 10 grandchildren: Jennifer, Sal, Nicholas IV, Ian, Matthew, Kelsey, Ryan, Elizabeth, Molly and Riley.
Visiting will be on Friday, Jan. 16 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Route 35, Wall. A Mass of Christian Burial
will be held on Saturday, Jan. 17 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Margaret’s RC Church in Spring Lake. Entombment will be at St. Catharine cemetery in Wall. Donations may be made in his name to Little Hill Alina Lodge, Box G, Blairstown 07825.
Raymond Roble
Toms River resident Raymond Roble, who retired to Mantoloking, died Tuesday, June 30 in Ocean Medical Center, Brick.
He was 92 years old.
Born in Nanticoke, Pa., he lived in Clifton for 30 years before retiring to Mantoloking, and Hutchinson, Fla. Raymond moved to Toms River 12 years ago.
He graduated from Newark College of Engineering, Newark, with a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering in 1962. He was a senior engineer at Public Service Research Laboratory, Maplewood, working in the chemical and environmental departments for 33 years, retiring in 1980.
Raymond was a first lieutenant serving as a bombardier with the 5th Air force during World War II. He received the Air Medal for his service as a lead bombardier.
He was a parishioner and usher at Our Lady of Peace Roman Catholic Church, Normandy Beach, and a member of the Holy Name Society. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus 8415, Seaside Park, the Ocean Beach and Bay Club, Chadwick Beach Yacht Club, Passaic County Grand Jurors Association, American Legion Post 1000, Trenton, Essex County Society and National Society of Professional Engineers.
He was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth Pavalak Roble; and his son, Raymond.
He is survived by his daughters, Kathleen Baker, of Wilmington, Del., and Michelle Lorenzen, of Toms River; a brother, Stanley, of Pennsylvania; four grandchildren, Dr. Elizabeth Baker-Steenson, Stephanie Lorenzen, and Robert and Damian McDonald; two great-grandchildren and one on the way.
The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. Friday, July 3 at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 706 Grand Central Ave., Lavallette. A Mass of Christian Burial
will follow at 10 a.m. at St. Pio of Pietrelcina, Lavallette. Burial
to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Saddle Brook.

Robert Gerald Patterson
Point Pleasant resident Robert Gerald Patterson died Wednesday, June 24 in Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. .
He was 66 years old.
Born Jan. 29, 1943 in the Township of Neptune, he was raised in Squankum and attended Freehold High School.
He was a motorcycle mechanic and an accomplished cabinet maker for which he owned Colonial Cabinets and Millwork. He was an avid motorcyclist and enjoyed collecting and repairing antique model trains.
He was predeceased by his loving wife, Edith Patterson; his father and mother, Charles and Maude Patterson; and his grandchildren, Benjamin Johnstone and Christopher McNaughton.
He is survived by his children, Robert G. Patterson and Lisa Patterson; his stepchildren, Paul McNaughton, Kathleen J. Horwedel, Christopher McNaughton, and Alanna Dimino; eight grandchildren; a great-grandchild; a brother, Charles Wallace Patterson; a nephew, Thomas Patterson; and a sister, Norma Newman.
Friends may attend a memorial gathering from 11 a.m. Sunday, July 5 until the memorial service at noon at O’Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road at Highway 70, Brick. Interment
is private.

Janet M. Moran
Venice, Fla. resident Janet M. Moran, formerly of Point Pleasant, died Saturday, June 27 in Venice, Fla.
She was 68 years old.
She was born in Hoboken on Dec. 8, 1940 and moved to the Jersey Shore in 1976.
She worked as a secretary for the federal government, lastly with the Joint Tactical Command at Fort Monmouth, retiring after 20 years.
She had relocated to Venice, Fla. in 1995 but visited New Jersey frequently to see her family and friends.
She was a volunteer at her church in Florida, as well as the local hospital in Venice
Janet was predeceased by her parents, Guido and Jennie Rega; as well her husband, Michael H. Moran.
She is survived by five children, Michael, of Point Pleasant; John, of Sarasota, Fla.; Jennie Allender; of Port Charlotte, Fla., Karen, of Manahawkin; and Janet of North Port, Fla. She also leaves behind 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and two sisters, Linda Norton and Carol Frohnapel, both of Jersey City.
She was a loving mother who will be remembered for always putting her family and friends first.
