Gertrude Walker
Manasquan resident Gertrude Gehlhaus Waler entered into eternal glory on Oct. 28, surrounded by loved ones at Jersey Shore University Medical Center.

She was 89 years old.

Mrs. Walker was born in West New York, but grew up in Union Beach before moving to Manasquan in 1950. She graduated from Keyport High School in 1936. She was employed as an LPN at the Allenwood Hospital, in Wall, where she cared for patients with tuberculosis. She continued her career independently as a private duty nurse for many years.

She was a member of St. Denis Church, in Manasquan, for 57 years. Mrs. Walker was active in the St. Denis School PTA and the St. Denis Cub Scouts. More recently, she had belonged to the AARP chapter, the South Monmouth Seniors and volunteered in the VNA Thrift Shop, in Manasquan.

Mrs. Walker enjoyed monthly bus trips to Atlantic City and dinners at the First Presbyterian Church, in Manasquan. She will be missed by a multitude of people of all ages whose lives she touched with her great compassion and sense of humor. Mrs. Walker also enjoyed music, gardening, reading and the company of her cats.

She was predeceased by her sister, Elise Raymond and her brother, Paul Gehlhaus. Her husband of 40 years, Westbrook W. Walker, died in 1987.

Mrs. Walker is survived by her children, Christine Barnes, of Brick, and Gene Walker, of Park Ridge, and his wife, Maryanne; granddaughter, Rachel Johnson, of Westwood and her husband, Derek; and grandchildren, Carl and Elise Barnes, of Brick; and great granddaughter, Julie Johnson. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Barbara Gehlhaus, of Huntsville, Ala. and two nieces.

A viewing has been scheduled for today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., with a memorial service at 8 p.m.

A Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 10:30 a.m. followed by interment at the Atlantic View Cemetery, Manasquan.

Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, Manasquan, is in charge of the arrangements.

Bernadette Nelson
Brick and Hobe Sound, Fla. resident Bernadette Duffy Nelson passed away on Thursday, Oct. 25, at Ocean Medical Center, Brick. She leaves behind many loved ones, including family in Wall.

She was 68 years old.

Mrs. Nelson had been employed as the office manager for French Construction Company, Wall, for 25 years before retiring in 1996.

Born in Elizabeth, she was raised in Point Pleasant Beach. She had lived in Point Pleasant Boro from 1961 until moving to the Greenbriar I, section of Brick, four years ago.

She was predeceased by her parents, Edward and Maureen Hackett Duffy; and her brother, Edward Duffy.

Surviving are her devoted husband of 47 years, David Nelson; her loving children, David E. and Kelly Nelson, of Point Pleasant, and Linda and James Wetzel, of Somerset; her sisters, Claire and Robert French, of Wall, Rosellen and Robert Moller, of Point Pleasant Beach, and Patricia and Richard Reiff, of Pueblo, Colo.; and four grandchildren, Bethany, James, D.J. and Liam.

Interment was held at St. Anne’s Cemetery, Wall.

Her family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 801 Broad St., Shrewsbury, 07702.

Alice T. Keane
Belmar resident Alice T. Keane died on Sunday, Oct. 28, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center.

She was 88 years old.

Born in New York City, she lived in Westfield before moving to Belmar in 1984.

She was predeceased by her husband, Christopher, in 1991.

Surviving are her three sons, Christopher Jr., Eugene R. and Michael J.; one daughter, Deborah Keane; and four grandchildren, Robert, Raymond, Barbara and Christopher.

Interment was held at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Valhalla, N.Y.

Reilly Funeral Home, Belmar, was in charge of the arrangements.

Thomas C. Allen
Wall resident Thomas C. Allen died on Tuesday, Oct. 23 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was 84 years old.

Thomas was born and raised in Allenwood.

Thomas served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked as a maintenance man at the Brisbane Child Treatment Center, Wall, and he was very versatile in many other trades. He was a graduate of Manasquan High School, where he was a member of National Honor Society. He was also an avid reader of mostly history.

Thomas was predeceased by his beloved wife of 43 years, Gladys Allen, in 2002; and his brother, George W. Allen, in 2003.

Surviving are his two daughters, Barbara Fowler Hall and her husband, James, of Wall; Patricia DiSilvestro and her husband, Mike, of Key Largo, Fla.; a sister, Barbara Allen Tatum and her husband, Richard, of Allenwood; three grandsons, Glenn Hall and his wife, Sepha, of Antelope, Calif. and Steven Hall and his wife Lauren, and Douglas Hall, all of Wall. He also leaves two great grandchildren, Alex and Zack Hall; and three nieces, Cindy Harms, Nancy Rowe, Karen DiMicco; and a nephew, Jeffrey Allen.

Burial was held at Allenwood Church Cemetery, Allenwood.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Meridian Hospice 1340A Campus Parkway Neptune, 07753, or, a charity of your choice.

O’Brien Funeral Home, Wall, was in charge of the arrangements.

Wayne P. Baldino
Brielle resident Wayne P. Baldino passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 24, at Meridian Care Center, in Wall.

He was 66 years old.

Mr. Baldino was born in Plainfield and lived in Brielle over 30 years. He was employed as director of human resources for Eastman Kodak, New York City.

A graduate of Fairfield University, Conn., he also served in the U.S. Army Reserves.

Wayne cherished the time with his family, boating and fishing.

Surviving are his children, Griffin Baldino, Peter C. Baldino, and Bethany and her husband, Kevin Pento, all of Brielle; sister, Joan Nevius, of Maine; granddaughter, Ella Pento; and former wife, Ora Jane Baldino, of Jackson.

Frank Inzerillo
Spring Lake Heights resident Frank Inzerillo died on Tuesday, Oct. 30, at Manor by the Sea, in Ocean Grove.

He was 77 years old.

Born in Detroit, Mich., he lived in Weehawken before coming to Spring Lake Heights 15 years ago.

Mr. Inzerillo was employed as an environmental engineer for GAF Inc. in Wayne, before retiring. He was a graduate of Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute and was a parishioner of St. Catharine’s Church, in Spring Lake.

He was predeceased by his parents, Vito and Angelina Inzerillo.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 23 years, Joan Heinzmann-Inzerillo; and his twin brothers, Salvatore and Joseph Inzerillo and their wives, Joyce and Dorothy. He also leaves his nephews, Joseph Jr., V. Christopher, and Christopher Inzerillo; his nieces, Angela Lawson and Angela Louise Inzerillo and six great nieces and nephews.

Visiting will be today from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. at the O’Brien Funeral Home, Highway 35 at New Bedford Road, Wall, .

A Mass at St. Catharine’s Church, Spring Lake will be held on Friday at 11 a.m., followed by entombment at St. Catharine’s Cemetery, Sea Girt.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Spring Lake First Aid Squad 311 Washington Ave. Spring Lake, 07762.

Mary Hunter
Spring Lake Heights resident Mary Hunter died on Sunday, June 10.

She was 99 years old.

Before her marriage, she was a model for Butterick Patterns, in New York City, and then raised her family for 45 years, until the death of her loving husband, George, in 1978.

She was a communicant of St. Catharine’s RC Church, in Spring Lake.

Born and raised in the Bronx, N.Y., she lived in Spring Valley, Rockland County, N.Y., and Show-Low, Ariz., before moving to Spring Lake Heights, to live with her daughter, Carol.

She died peacefully at home, returning to her heavenly home to join all those waiting for her.

She was predeceased by her husband, George, in 1978; eight brothers; and one sister.

She leaves her daughters, Carol Hunter and her husband, Philip Kissel, of Spring Lake Heights, and Virginia Hunter, of Tucson, Ariz.; four grandchildren, Karen Russell, Robert Treanor, Michael Treanor, all of Tucson, Ariz., and Jean Peters, of Plano, Texas; nine great-grandchildren; and a great-great granddaughter.

Visiting is today, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and Friday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., at the O’Brien Funeral Home, Wall.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, at 9:30 a.m., at St. Catharine’s RC Church, Spring Lake.

Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Yonkers, N.Y.

Barry C. Harris Memorial Service
A Memorial Service will be held for Barry C. Harris (March 11, 1940 - February 11, 2007) at 10a.m. on Saturday, June 16 at the First Presbyterian Church of Manasquan, 16 Viriginia Avenue.

Lunch will be held at the Manasquan Elks Club following the service.

Friends and family are welcomed.
