JOSEPH STORES SR., 83, of Sayreville died April 14 in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Perth Amboy division. Prior to his retirement in 1980, he was employed as a chemical operator with Hercules Inc., Parlin section of Sayreville, where he worked for 42 years. His wife, Mariethel Latham Stores, died in 1988, and a daughter, Ruth Stores, died in 1999. Surviving are a son, Joseph Stores Jr. of Sayreville; two daughters, Daryl Hoffman of Middletown and Dawn Golembieski of Sayreville; four sisters, Mary Pence of Lakeland, Fla., Claire Reilly of South Amboy, Joan Kirk of Sayreville and Peggy Rusin of Warren; several nieces and nephews; and eight grandchildren. A liturgy of the word was offered at Our Lady of Victories Church, Sayreville. Interment
was in Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent section of Manalapan. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Kidney Foundation.
EVELYN WILSON of Freehold Township died March 29 at Avante at Red Bank Care Center, Red Bank. Born in Linden, she lived in Matawan before moving to Freehold 37 years ago. She is survived by her husband, Charles, of Freehold Township; a son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Kelly Wilson of New Milford, Conn.; two sisters, Dorothy Hultfeldt of Springhill, Fla., and Mary Ann Taylor of New Jersey. Entombment was at Atlantic View Cemetery, Brielle.
IRENE J. PREBLICK, 78, of Hazlet died Jan. 2 at home. Born in Irvington, she resided there until moving to Hazlet 41 years ago. Mrs. Preblick was a homemaker. She was predeceased by her husband, Theodore Preblick, in 1990; a son, Theodore Preblick Jr.; a brother, Frank Stefanski; two sisters, Marie Hanft and Helen Walsh; and a stepson. She is survived by a daughter, Mary Vena of Hazlet; a sister, Florence Bohem of Keyport; a brother, Daniel Stefanski of Tinton Falls; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. MAURA CONWAY-AMERY, 57, of Holmdel died Dec. 22 at home after a battle with cancer. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she resided there and in Aberdeen, and Miami, Fla., prior to moving to Holmdel 17 years ago. She was a homemaker and enjoyed time with her family. She was a communicant and member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society at St. Catharine’s Roman Catholic Church, Holmdel. She received the Golden Key Award from St. John’s University, Jamaica, N.Y., for attaining the highest grade point average in her major, American studies. She was predeceased by her parents, Patrick J. Conway of County Clare, Ireland, and Mary C. McRory of County Donegal, Ireland. She is survived by her husband, Sean Amery of Holmdel; three daughters, Jane Mary Amery of Shrewsbury, Elizabeth Anne Amery of New York City, and Margaret Maura Amery of Holmdel; her sister and brother-in-law, Anne and Jim Creech of Raleigh, N.C.; her mother-in-law, Jeannette F. RONDELEIN L. "RONDA" HOMAN, 64, of Long Branch died Dec. 5 at home after a battle with cancer. Born in Bridgeport, Conn., she resided in Brooklyn, N.Y., before moving to Long Branch in 1956. She was a manager at H & R Block, Red Bank. She worked at Brunswick Monmouth Lanes, Long Branch. She was a member, choir member and former lay leader at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, Long Branch. She was also a member of St. Luke’s 49’ers. She was a 25-year secretary for the bowling league the Bored Strykers. She was predeceased by her husband, Walter Homan, in 1985. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Walter and Susan Homan of Beachwood; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Laurie Homan of Long Branch; Kathy and Stephen Karinja of Rumson; and Lisa and Robert Cozza of Suwanee, Ga.; her brother, Joseph Paslov of Connecticut; her sister, Joan Buffandeau of California; and 10 grandchildren. ELIZABETH "BETTY" MARY DALY BERNER, 64, of Eatontown died Dec. 6 at home. Born in Jersey City, she had resided in the River Plaza section of Middletown for 31 years before moving to Eatontown four years ago. Mrs. Berner was a certified nursing assistant at Arnold Walter Nursing Home, Hazlet, for 14 years before her retirement. Prior to that, she was a private duty nurse’s aide for 10 years. She was a communicant of St. Dorothea’s Roman Catholic Church, Eatontown. Her activities included spending time with her family, reading, music, and occasionally opening her home to those in need. She was predeceased by a son, Michael K. Berner, and a sister, Judi Booth. Mrs. Berner is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, James A. and Colleen A. Berner of Tinton Falls, and Bryan James Berner, with whom she lived; two daughters and one son-in-law, Mary Catherine and Henry J. Remmer of Wilmington, N.C., and Kathleen Berner of Los Angeles; her brother, James Joseph Daly of Keyport; her sister, Kathleen Kazary of Fords; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. KATHERINE HELEN FARLEY HORNECKER of Tinton Falls died March 22 at home. Born in Keyport, she resided in Middletown before moving to Tinton Falls. Mrs. Hornecker was a homemaker. She was a 27-year volunteer at the Fort Monmouth Thrift Shop, as well as Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Her memberships included the Fort Monmouth Officers’ Wives Club and Women’s Club, the Middletown Republican Club, Pioneers of America of AT&T, the Keyport Woman’s Club for 48 years, the Keyport Doll Club for 20 years, and the Root and Branch Garden Club of Keyport. She was predeceased by her first husband, James C. Emmons, in 1957; and her second husband, Bernard C. Hornecker Jr., in 1989. Mrs. Hornecker is survived by her daughter, Ruth Fleming of Highlands; her sister, Joyce Weinrich of Florida; five grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. DOROTHY "DOT" MARIE PAUELS, 85, of Rumson died March 29 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in the Locust section of Middletown, she resided in Rumson for the past 61 years. Mrs. Pauels was co-owner of Paul’s Boats, Rumson, from 1940-76. She was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church, Navesink section of Middletown. She was a member and past president of Oceanic Fire Auxiliary, Rumson; a member of the Eastern Star, Monmouth Chapter, Atlantic Highlands; and a member and past Royal Matron of the Order of Emerant Charity Court No. 38, Fair Haven. Mrs. Pauels was predeceased by a son, Peter J. Pauels Jr., in 1998. She is survived by her husband, Peter J. Pauels Sr. of Rumson; a son and daughter-in-law, Arthur "Nippy" and Mary E. Pauels of Rumson; a daughter-in-law, Patsy Pauels of California; a brother, William Stryker of Atlantic City; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. ESTHER KEYNTON SEVRET, 52, of Hazlet died March 30 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Neptune, she resided in South Belmar and Manasquan before moving to Hazlet 33 years ago. Mrs. Sevret was a registered nurse at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune. She also was a private duty nurse at We Care, Oakhurst section of Ocean Township; Brentwood Nursing Home, Middletown; and Union Beach Board of Education, for 31 years. She was a communicant of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Union Beach. She was a member of Brunswick League, Hazlet. Mrs. Sevret is survived by her husband, Robert Sevret of Hazlet; two sons, Robert Sevret Jr. of Elizabethtown, Pa., and James Sevret of Hazlet; her daughter, Renee Sevret of Hazlet; three brothers, Martin Keynton and John Keynton, both of Wall Township, and Percy Keynton of Tinton Falls; three sisters, Rosemary Hughes of Neptune City, Ann Mary Lake of Jackson, and Therese Loftus of Bricktown; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
