Joan D. Wells
Sea Girt resident Joan D. Wells died peacefully, surrounded by her family on Thursday, June 4 at Meridian Sub-Acute, Wall Township.
She was 81 years old.
Joan was born and raised in Toronto, Canada, and she lived in Sea Girt for 40 years. Joan was an avid member of several women’s clubs in Monmouth County. She loved her life with horses, as well as all animals and she dedicated herself to helping them. Joan cherished her family and the time they spent together and she will be missed.
Joan was predeceased by her beloved husband, John Armstrong Wells.
She leaves behind a son, Robert T. Wells, and daughters, Wendy L. Baum and Deborah L. O’Connor. She also leaves 4 grandchildren, Steven Baum, Kevin Baum, Brendan T. O’Connor, and Courtney L. O’Connor.
Joan’s family would like to thank the O’Connor family of Spring Lake/Florida and all of our close friends for their prayers and support.
Committal will be private.

Charles Elliot
Charles Elliot, formerly of Belmar died Friday, June 5.
He was born in Cleveland, Ohio and lived in New York City and Belmar.
He was a graduate of Stuyvesant High School and received a bachelor of arts from Queens College, N.Y. in Spanish and education and an associates in applied science in fire administration. He attended Teachers College, Columbia University as a candidate for a masters of arts degree in [TESOL] teaching English to speakers of other languages. He received certification to teach in New York and New Jersey state public schools. Charles was a retired Captain of the New York City Fire Department, retired Captain of the United States Army Reserves Intelligence Unit, and retired Director of Fire and Safety Administration at Harlem Hospital, New York City.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Youlette Maria and their nieces, nephews and friends of many years.
A memorial service will be held in Belmar on June 13 at the Reilly Funeral Home, 801 D Street, Belmar at noon.

Jean A. McAvoy
San Diego, Calif. resident Jean A. McAvoy, formerly of Manasquan, died Tuesday, June 2.
She was 81 years old.
Born April 19, 1928 in Livingston, N.Y., she was one of seven children born to Whitehurst and Catherine Carner. Jean resided in Manasquan for over 25 years and raised seven children with David H. McAvoy. Jean later moved to San Diego to be near her son, Dennis, who was her devoted caretaker until her passing.
Jean was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed reading, knitting, her church groups, and above all spending time with her family.
Jean was predeceased by her sons, David and Kevin McAvoy.
She is survived by Dennis McAvoy, Patti Colabella [Joe], Joyce Moreau [Michael], Denise Watson [Mark] and Jerry McAvoy. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Kelli [Brooks] and Kim Colabella, Danielle [Gecewicz], Stephen and Alex Moreau, Jacob and Hannah Watson, Jasun McAvoy and two great-grandchildren.
There will be a private memorial service for the family.
Joan R. Krista
Avon resident Joan R. Krista died Tuesday, June 2.
She was 81 years old.
Born in Jersey City, she graduated from St. Aloysius High School and was a member of the alumni association. Joan was a member of the rosary society and past Grand Regent of Court Paulus Hook, CDA Jersey City. Prior to retiring, she was an executive secretary at Clara Maass Medical Center. When she moved to Avon, she became a member of St. Elizabeth’s Church.
She was predeceased by her parents, Mary and Charles Brophy.
She is survived by one son, Kevin and his wife, Elizabeth of North Arlington; two daughters, Susan Krista of Oakland and Kathleen Mahon and her husband, Thomas of Shark River Hills; one sister, Clara Ceil Brophy of Murray Hill; and five grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Friday, June 5 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Reilly Funeral Home, 801 D St. Belmar. Family and friends will gather at the funeral home on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 9:30 a.m. at St. Elizabeth’s Church, Lincoln Ave., Avon.

Walter G. Perry
Walter G. Perry, formerly of Spring Lake Heights, died Monday, April 27 in the Comforts of Home Assisted Living Community, Hudson, Wis.
He was 80 years old.
He was born in New Jersey and had lived in Spring Lake, before moving to New York then Minnesota in 1985.
He graduated from Fordham University, BA; Rutgers Law School, J.D.; New York Law School, LLM and practiced law in New York and Minnesota. He was a member of Westchester and Fairfield County Bar Associations and Treasurer of the Ossining Bar Association. In Minnesota, he was adjunct professor at the Hamline University School of Law, Minnesota State University and Minnesota Court Reporting School. He was a very active member of the Cathedral of Saint Paul, St. Paul, Minn.
Walter was predeceased by his parents, Edward W. and Helen Perry of Spring Lake.
He is survived by his devoted children: his son, Walt Perry and wife, Andrea of Minneapolis, Minn; his daughter, Katherine McDade and husband, Jack of Scottsdale, Ariz.; his son, Drew Perry of Rosemount, Minn.; and daughter, Ann Perry of Phoenix, Ariz. Also surviving are his three grandchildren, Elle, John and Callum and his siblings, Bill Perry and Sim Kendall.
O’Connell Family Funeral Home, Hudson. WI, is in charge of arrangements. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Catharine Church, Spring Lake, on June 20 with burial at the St. Catharine Church parish cemetery.

Mary Gragnano
Brielle resident Mary Gragnano, formerly of Westfield, died Tuesday, June 9 peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family and caretaker, Ina.
She was 102 years old.
Mary was born and raised in Everett and Ipswitch, Mass. where her family owned and operated the Ipswitch Inn. She graduated from Babson Institute in Boston and worked for Bell Telephone. Mary also worked for many years as an operator at Answer Phone in Roselle and Westfield.
Mrs. Gragnano was predeceased by her husband, Joseph; her son, Joseph; her parents, Albert and Lena Anzouni; her brothers, Sal, Nick, and Albert; and her sisters Lucy, Louise, and Ann.
She is survived by her son, Edward and daughter-in law, Kay of Brielle; her sisters, Virginia of Sarasota, Fla., and Evelyn of Del Ray, Fla.; three grandchildren, Nora Joe Andersen and husband, Bill from Copauge, Long Island, Nicole Gragnano Behler and husband, Jon of Wall Township; and Joseph of Spring Lake. She is also survived by one very special great-granddaughter, Rose Behler, who has been the love of her life for the past two years.
O'Brien Funeral Home, Wall Township was in charge of arrangements. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered today at 9:30 a.m. at St. Catharine's Roman Catholic Church in Spring Lake. Burial
will follow at St. Gertrude's cemetery in Colonia.

Nancy Ellen Kosinski
Wall Township resident Nancy Ellen Kosinski died Sunday, April 26 in Ocean Medical Center, Brick.
She was 75 years old.
She had lived in Manasquan Park, Wall Township, since 1964. She worked as clerk at the Monmouth County Courthouse, retiring in 1994. She was a lifetime member of the Wall Community First Aid Squad and enjoyed volunteering her time to the community. She was an avid painter whose paintings won awards and her painted crafts were exhibited at several locations around the shore. She was an avid fan of NASCAR and was known for her eclectic style.
She was predeceased by her husband, Stanley Kosinski, in 1978 and her long-time companion George Kimmel in 2008.
She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Reeves and her husband Jack of Phoenix, Ariz.; her son, Stanley Kosinski and his wife, Kelly, of Hillsborough; her daughter, Grace Clark LaPorta and her husband, Mark, Sebastian, Florida, ; her son John Kosinski and his wife Marisa, Wall; her son Thomas Kosinski of Point Pleasant; and her daughter Judi Berrier of Jackson. She is also survived by her seven grandchildren, Edmund Spychalski, Karen Neese and her husband, Kraig, Matthew Clark, Christopher and Kimberly Kosinski and Eric and Andrew Kosinski. She is also survived by her great-grandchild Megan Neese.
A remembrance of her life will be held Saturday, May 2 at the Wall Community First Aid Squad building in Wall, from 1 to 4 p.m.

Edeltraud O. Duffy
Wall Township resident Edeltraud O. Duffy died Sunday, April 26 in the Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune.
She was 70 years old.
She was a homemaker. Mrs. Duffy was a communicant of St. Mark’s Roman Catholic Church in Sea Girt.
Surviving are her loving husband of 51 years, Daniel J. Duffy; her daughter, Diane J. Duffy, of Brevard, N.C.; and her grandsons, Brian and Danny Duffy, also of Brevard.
A Memorial Mass was celebrated at St. Mark’s Roman Catholic Church, Spring Lake. Interment
will be private.
