Florence F. Pirro De Rubeis, 77, of Westfield died on Wednesday, March 18, 1998 in the Harborside Healthcare-Woods-Edge Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Bridgewater.
Born in Clairton, Pennsylvania, she had lived in Westfield since 1966.
Mrs. De Rubeis was a member of the Senior Citizens Club of Westfield.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Ernest Pirro, in 1985 and by her second husband, Joseph De Rubeis, in 1992.
Surviving are a son, Samuel Pirro of New York City; a daughter, Rosemary Murtagh of North Brunswick; a stepson, Settimo De Rubeis of Westfield; three stepdaughters, Lucy Giuliani of Garwood, Cecelia Masci of Farmingdale and Connie De Giorgio of Cranford, and a sister, Eva De Maio of Clairton.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered on Saturday, March 21, in the Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church in Westfield. Burial took place in Fairview Cemetery in Westfield.
Arrangements were handled by the Dooley Funeral Home, 218 North Avenue, West, in Cranford.

Frank Slaughter, Jr., 75
Frank Slaughter Jr., 75, of Summit, died on Thursday, March 19, 1998 at work at the Barker Bus Service Garage in Berkeley Heights.
Born in Charlottesville, Virginia, he had lived in Scotch Plains before moving to Summit 13 years ago.
Mr. Slaughter was a mechanic at the garage for 30 years.
He was a United States Navy veteran of World War II.
Mr. Slaughter was a member of the 800 Club Bowling League of Clark.
Surviving are two sons, Keith Slaughter, Sr. of Scotch Plains and Craig Slaughter of Summit; a daughter, Stephanie Slaughter of Summit; a brother, Louis Slaughter of Pennsylvania; three sisters, Margaret "Tillie" Williams and Dorothy "Peaches" Slaughter, both of Fanwood, and Rosalie Graves of Scotch Plains, and six grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Monday, March 23, at the Judkins Colonial Home in Plainfield.
Helen L. Tynan, 84
Helen L. Brokaw Tynan, 84, died on Thursday, March 19, 1998 at Harborside Healthcare-Woods Edge Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Bridgewater.
Born and raised in Dunellen, she had lived in Green Brook for 45 years before moving to Bridgewater 11 years ago.
Mrs. Tynan graduated from Bound Brook High School and received a post-graduate certificate from the school.
Her husband, Edmund B. Tynan, died in 1979.
Surviving are a daughter, Karen L. Vance of Hillsborough; a sister, Virginia B. Collins of Mountainside, and four grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 21, at the Mundy Funeral Home in Dunellen.
Albert "Churchill" Ross, 72
Mason; Served With Fire and Rescue Units
Albert W. "Churchill" Ross, 72, of Nazareth, Pennsylvania, died on Wednesday, March 18, 1998 at Easton Hospital in Pennsylvania.
Born in Plainfield, he had lived in Effort, Pennsylvania, Scotch Plains and Phillipsburg before moving to Nazareth two years ago.
Mr. Ross had been a backhoe operator for Elizabethtown Gas Company, working out of New Village for 33 years before retiring in 1990.
He was a United States Army veteran and served in Europe during World War II.
Mr. Ross was a member of Phillipsburg Lodge No. 51, Free and Accepted Masons, Scottish Rite Valley of Allentown and Scotch Plains Field Club.
He was a former member of the Scotch Plains Fire Company and Rescue Squad and the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion posts in Scotch Plains.
His grandson, Kenneth C. Kelly, died in 1996.
Surviving are five daughters, Linda McNally of Rochester, New Hampshire, Coleen DeJesso and Lisa Burns, both of Lopatcong, Cindy Squashic of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Lori Ashburner of South Berwick, Maine; a brother, Theodore Ross of Baltimore; 10 grandchildren, and two great-granddaughters.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 21, at the Wesley United Methodist Church in Phillipsburg.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Rupell Funeral Home in Phillipsburg.

Emil J. Lewczak of Roselle died on Thursday, March 19, 1998 in the Westfield Center, Genesis ElderCare Network in Westfield.
Born in Elizabeth, he had lived in Scotch Plains before moving to Roselle 34 years ago.
Mr. Lewczak had been a dairy manager with Pathmark Supermarkets in Clark and Linden before retiring in 1988. He served in the United States Navy during World War II.
Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Gloria Lewczak; three daughters, Linda Tucker, Rose Mathisen and Nancy Erickson; a sister, Lottie Mezak; two brothers, Henry Lewczak and Fred Lewczak, and two grandchildren.

Nancy Nichols, 49
College Graduate; Assistant Director of Music at Church
Nancy Ryan Nichols, 49, of Fanwood died on Thursday, March 19, 1998 at Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center in Plainfield.
Born in Syracuse, New York, she had lived there and in Cincinnati, Ohio, before moving to Fanwood 18 years ago.
She was the Assistant Director of Music at the Fanwood Presbyterian Church, where she was a parishioner and a member of the choir.
Mrs. Nichols was a graduate of Vermont College in Montpelier, Vermont. Surviving are her husband, Michael Nichols; two daughters, Christina M. Nichols and Abigail A.
Nichols, both of Fanwood; her parents, Edwin W. and Marie O. Ryan of Syracuse, and a brother, Edwin D. Ryan of Syracuse.
A memorial service will be held this Saturday, March 28, at 3 p.m. at the Fanwood Presbyterian Church, 74 Martine Avenue, South, in Fanwood. There will be no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Organ Fund of the Fanwood Presbyterian Church at the church address.
