Louise Santacross, 73
Louise Mary Appezzato Santacross, 73, of Englewood, Florida, died on Thursday, May 7, 1998 at Englewood Community Hospital in Englewood.
Born and raised in Scotch Plains, she had moved to Plainfield after her marriage, and had lived there for 40 years. She and her husband moved to Englewood about 11 years ago.
Mrs. Santacross was a former member of St. Bernard's Roman Catholic Church in Plainfield.
Surviving are her husband of 54 years, Louis Santacross; two sons, Louis Santacross, Jr. of Englewood and Rodney Santacross of Cranford; a daughter, Annabelle Short of Scotch Plains; three sisters, Molly Russo of South Plainfield, Rosina Sania of Ortley Beach and Clara Vazosi of Manalapan; two brothers, Joseph Appezzato of Scotch Plains and Albert Appezzato of Bridgewater; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be offered on Saturday, May 16, at 2 p.m. at St. Bartholomew the Apostle Roman Catholic Church in Scotch Plains.
Arrangements are being handled by the Lemon Bay Funeral Home in Englewood.
Mary Steuernagel, 79
Mary Louise Steuernagel, 79, of Cranford died on Monday, May 11, 1998 at the Cranford Health and Extended Care Center.
Born and raised in Philadelphia, she had moved to Runnemede in 1949 and to Westfield in 1954. Mrs. Steuernagel had moved to Cranford recently.
She was an active member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist in Westfield for many years.
Mrs. Steuernagel was predeceased by her first husband, Richard Leigh Hunter, in 1969 and by her second husband, John C. Steuernagel, in 1996.
Surviving are a daughter, Anne Logue of Cranford; a son, Kenneth Leigh Hunter of Hollywood, California; two stepsons, Chuck Steuernagel and Christopher Steuernagel, and a stepdaughter, Cathy Fay of Kenilworth.
The funeral service will be held today, Thursday, May 14, at the Gray Memorial Funeral Home, 12 Springfield Avenue in Cranford. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of the individual's choice.
Judith L. Wimbush, 46
Judith Lynn Trezza Wimbush, 46, of Westfield died on Monday, May 11, 1998 at home.
Born in Elizabeth, she was raised in Cranford and lived in Westfield for the past three years.
She was the Assistant Payroll Manager at Cosmair, Inc. in Clark since 1989, and had previously been the payroll manager at International Paint, Inc. in Union for 10 years.
Ms. Wimbush received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History from Kean College in Union in 1973.
She was a member of the Livingston School Parent-Teacher Association Women's Bowling League of Union.
Surviving are her father, Joseph J. Trezza of Cranford; a sister, Nancy Majewski of Clinton Township, and a brother, Joseph J. Trezza, Jr. of Beverly Hills, California.
A Funeral Liturgy will be held at 9:45 a.m. tomorrow, Friday, May 15, at St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church in Clark.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Dooley Funeral Home, 218 North Avenue in Cranford.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
Elizabeth Pellegrino-Morella
Clerk; Worked at Hershey's Deli in Westfield
Elizabeth Pellegrino-Morella of Plainfield died on Friday, May 8, 1998 at Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center in Plainfield.
Born in Fanwood, she had lived in Plainfield most of her life.
Mrs. Pellegrino-Morella worked as a service clerk for Hershey's Deli in Westfield for many years. Previously, she had worked as an assembler for Union Instruments in Plainfield and as a saleswoman for Plymouth Fashion and Dan Roberts Fashion, both in Plainfield.
She was a member of the St. Bernard's Roman Catholic Church Rosary Society and was a resident council member of the Robert Wood Johnson Health Center in Plainfield.
She was predeceased by her husband, Alphonse Pellegrino, in 1957. Surviving are two daughters, Patricia A. Desiato and Beverly P. Wood, both of Scotch Plains; two brothers, Anthony Merrill of Freehold and Dominick Merrill of Scotch Plains; two sisters, Carmella Merrill of North Plainfield and Philomena Tettamentia of Irvington; six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass was held on Tuesday, May 11, at St. Bernard's Church. Arrangements were handled by the Rossi Funeral Home in Scotch Plains.
Mary E. Woods, 75
Mary E. Orban Woods, 75, of Westfield died on Sunday, July 19, 1998 at Overlook Hospital in Summit.
Born in New Brunswick, she had lived in Westfield for 47 years.
She was predeceased by her husband, William J. Woods, in 1994.
Surviving are a son, David W. Woods of Allendale; a daughter, Diana M. Collins of Bridgewater; a brother, Andrew Orban of Edison, and three grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered yesterday, Wednesday, July 22, at St. Anne's Roman Catholic Church in Garwood. Interment took place at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield.
Arrangements were handled by the Dooley Funeral Home, 218 North Avenue in Cranford.

Ranald G. Dunning, 95, MIT Alumni; Active in Many Community Groups
Ranald G. Dunning, 95, of Meadow Lakes, Hightstown, died on Wednesday, July 15, 1998 at Princeton Medical Center in Princeton.
Born in Lynden, Ohio, on October 6, 1902, he had lived in Westfield for 48 years before moving to Hightstown in 1992.
Mr. Dunning first moved to New Jersey in 1921 when he transferred to Princeton University from Washington and Jefferson College in Washington, Pennsylvania.
He graduated from Princeton with a degree in chemistry in 1924, and obtained a master's degree in chemistry from the university the following year. Mr. Dunning acquired a master's degree in engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1927.
After completing his degree at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Mr. Dunning returned to New Jersey and worked for several chemical companies. He moved to Westfield in 1944.
He was employed for many years by Merck and Company of Rahway, as well as Metalwash in Elizabeth and Chemirad in East Brunswick, before retiring in 1972.
Mr. Dunning was an active member of The Presbyterian Church of Westfield, where he served as both an Elder and Trustee. He was also active with Boy Scout Troops No. 172 and No. 72.
He was a member of the Old Guard and the Sons of the American Revolution; a life member of the American Chemical Society, and a member of Alpha Chi Sigma and the Nassau Club in Princeton.
He was predeceased by his wife, Harriet B. Freeman Dunning, in 1979.
The couple had married in 1937. Surviving are two sons, Bruce Dunning of Tokyo, Japan and Alan Dunning of Summit and Frankfurt, Germany, and four grandchildren.
Mr. Dunning was buried on Tuesday, July 21, at Hazel Wood Cemetery in Rahway. A memorial service was held at the Princeton University Chapel yesterday, Wednesday, July 22.

Velma J. Law
Held Two Degrees; Director of Nursing at Genesis Center
Velma Jean Law, 59, of Monroe Township died on Friday, July 17, 1998 at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.
Born in Newark, she had lived in Scotch Plains for 30 years before moving to Monroe Township two years ago.
Mrs. Law had been the Director of Nursing at Genesis Eldercare, The Woodlands in Plainfield for six years before retiring in 1996.
Previously, she had been the Director of Nursing at Cedar Oaks Care Center in South Plainfield for seven years.
She graduated from the Elizabeth General Hospital School of Nursing, and was awarded an Associates in Science Degree from Union College in 1985. Mrs. Law earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Kean University in 1987.
She was a member of the Union College Alumni Association in Cranford and the Kean College Alumni Association in Union.
Surviving are her husband, Ronald Law; a daughter, Leslie Norvel Law of Basking Ridge, and a sister, Wanda Gaulden of Newark.
Funeral services were held yesterday, Wednesday, July 22, at the Memorial Funeral Home, 155 South Avenue in Fanwood. Interment took place at Hillside Cemetery in Scotch Plains.
