Natalie Guarnieri, 87
Natalie Benicassa Nestico Guarnieri, 87, of Scotch Plains died on Tuesday, July 14, 1998 in Muhlenburg Regional Medical Center in Plainfield.
Born in The Bronx, she lived in Scotch Plains for 45 years.
Mrs. Guarnieri was a homemaker. She was predeceased by her first husband, Frank Nestico; her second husband, Pasquale J. Guarnieri; her brother, Vincent Benicassa, and two sisters, Christine Mazza and Mary DeCarlo.
Surviving are a son, Sam Nestico of Perth Amboy; two sisters, Ida Pelligrino and Ann Nappe, both of South Plainfield; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Friday, July 17, at the James W. Conroy Funeral Home in South Plainfield, followed by a Mass at the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in South Plainfield.

Irma M. Rack, 93
Irma M. Rack, 93, died on Monday, July 13, 1998 in Boca Raton, Florida.
Born in Jersey City, she had lived in Westfield before moving to Florida in 1969.
Mrs. Rack was an honorary member of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary Floatilla No. 36 in Boca Raton, and the Golden Harbor Yacht Club.
She was predeceased by her husband, Al Rack, who died on June 3.
Surviving are a daughter, Carol Rack Herndon of Mattapoisett, Massachusetts; a sister, Dorothy DePauw of Oradell; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements were under the direction of the R. Jay Kraeer Funeral Home in Boca Raton.

Arlene S. Mackie, 88
Parishioner; Had Managed Area Furniture Store
Arlene S. Buck Mackie, 88, of Watchung died on Tuesday, July 14, 1998 at her home.
Born in Stillwater, Pennsylvania, she had lived in Westfield and Newark before moving to Watchung 30 years ago.
Mrs. Mackie managed the Edward Mackie & Sons Furniture Store in North Plainfield for many years.
She was a member of the Wilson Memorial Union Church in Watchung.
She was predeceased by her husband, Clarence Mackie, in 1966, and by her son, Edward Allen, in 1969.
Surviving are three daughters, Marilyn Frankenbach of Fanwood, Joyce Anderson of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, and Marjorie Zausner of Leesburg, Virginia; a sister, Nita Kingsley of Mountainside; 13 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 25, at the Wilson Memorial Union Church. There is no visitation.
Arrangements are being handled by the Higgins Home for Funerals in Warren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Wilson Memorial Union Church, 7 Valley Road, Watchung, 07060.

Marlyn M. Harrison, 62
Librarian; Worked in Children's Department
Marlyn Mears Harrison, 62, of Westfield died on Tuesday, July 14, 1998 at home.
Born in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, she moved to Westfield in 1965.
Mrs. Harrison was a children's librarian for the Roselle Public Library for eight years.
She graduated from Rutgers University with a Master of Library Science Degree.
Surviving are two sons, Kevin Harrison of Durham, North Carolina and David Harrison of Agoura Hills, California; her mother, Emily Mears of Greensburg, Pennsylvania; two brothers, Scott Mears and Harry Albert Mears, Jr., both of Greensburg, Pennsylvania; two sisters, Miriam Peterson of Raleigh, North Carolina and Marsha Stavrides of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and four grandchildren.
Private services were arranged by the Gray Funeral Home, 318 East Broad Street in Westfield.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Children's Department of Roselle Public Library, West 4th Avenue, Roselle, 07203.

Dr. Carlo Pallini, 73
Local Physician; Former President of Rotary Club
Dr. Carlo A. Pallini, 73, of Scotch Plains died on Saturday, July 18, 1998 at Wayne County Memorial Hospital in Honesdale, Pennsylvania.
Born in Rome, Italy, he had lived in Newark before moving to Scotch Plains in 1959. He maintained a private practice in the township.
Dr. Pallini practiced internal medicine and cardiology since 1960, and held staff positions at Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center in Plainfield, St. Elizabeth Hospital in Elizabeth, and St. Michael's Hospital in Newark.
He also served as the Assistant Director of the Cardiac Research and Cardio-Pulmonary Laboratory at St. Michael's Hospital in Newark from July of 1964 to May of 1966.
Dr. Pallini served in the Italian Army Medical Corps from 1951 to 1953, and served in the United States Naval Reserves during the Vietnam War.
He was educated at Christian Brothers Elementary and High School in Rome, and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1943 from the Visconti Royal School. He was awarded his medical degree in July of 1949·from the University of Rome Medical School.
Dr. Pallini was President of the Union County Heart Association from 1970 to 1971. He served as Chairman of the Horizons Committee for the Scotch Plains Tercentennial in 1984, and as President of the Fanwood-Scotch Plains Rotary Club from 1987 to 1988.
A Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary, he also held memberships in the American Medical Association, the New Jersey Medical Society, the Union County Medical Society, the Union County Heart Association, and the American Federation for Clinical Research.
He was predeceased by his wife, Lois Creighton Pallini, in 1995.
Surviving are a son, Carl A. Pallini of Edison; two daughters, Teresa Krasny of Fanwood and Gabriella Pallini of North Plainfield; two sisters, Concetta Conti and Franca Lattanzi, both of Rome, and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, July 26, at 11 a.m. at the Memorial Funeral Home, 155 South Avenue in Fanwood. Calling hours will be held tomorrow, Friday, July 24, from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Saturday, July 25, from 2 to 4 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Rotary Foundation, l Rotary Plaza, 1560 Sherman Avenue, Evanston, Illinois, 60201.

Robert H. Mulreany, 82
Former Mayor; Attorney was Active in Health Care
Robert H. Mulreany, 82, of Summit, a former Mayor of Westfield, died on Sunday, April 12, 1998 at The King James Care Center in Chatham Township.
Born in Brooklyn, he had lived in Westfield from 1950 to 1993, when he and his wife moved to Summit.
A retired senior law partner, Mr. Mulreany began his 57-year career with the legal profession in 1933, when he joined the law firm now known as DeForest and Duer as an office boy. He worked his way through college and law school at New York University. He had also studied architecture at Brooklyn Technical High School.
Mr. Mulreany specialized in tax-exempt corporations, representing foundations interested in sociological problems, better management techniques, applying new medical discoveries, and fostering leadership.
Throughout his career, Mr. Mulreany took an active role in New York City affairs. He was Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the New York School of Social Work at Columbia University, Chairman of the Mayor's Advisory Committee on Public Welfare, and Trustee and Chairman of the Community Service Society of New York, then the largest private welfare organization in the country.
He was President of the Provident Loan Society, Director of Manhattan Fire and Marine Insurance Company, Director of United Charities, Inc. and Director of Group Securities.
For many years Mr. Mulreany was a trustee of the John A. Hartford Foundation and the Smith Richardson Foundation, Inc. He served as Chairman of the New Jersey Wastewater Treatment Trust, and was Director, Secretary and later Chairman of United Water Resources in Hackensack.
He was also Director of the Spring Valley Water Company and Director of National State Bank.
In the 1950s, he was an adult leader in DeMolay, a youth organization within the Masonic Order, and was a Trustee of Tuskegee Institute in Alabama from 1966 to 1979.
In Westfield, Mr. Mulreany served as a member and later as President of the Board of Education. He was also a Trustee, youth teacher and elder of The Presbyterian Church in Westfield. He was Mayor of Westfield from 1964 to 1967.
Mr. Mulreany subsequently became Chairman of Westfield's Hospital Study Committee. He was a Trustee and Chairman of the Board at Overlook Hospital in Summit, and later was Chairman of the Overlook Foundation, a fundraising arm of the hospital. He also maintained a long association with Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York.
He was largely credited with establishing Overlook as a teaching hospital, through a link with Presbyterian Hospital in New York City and the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, and for the establishment of the Overlook Foundation.
The Overlook Hospital Health Sciences Library was named for him in 1993. Mr. Mulreany was also given the hospital's Community Service Award in 1994.
The Westfield Rotary Club honored him with the Charles P. Bailey Humanitarian Award and the Westfield YMCA presented him with its Golden Man Award for outstanding service to the community.
He was a Lieutenant in the United States Navy during World War II, serving aboard a destroyer in the Pacific Ocean.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Mulreany, whom he married in 1940; two daughters, Doreen O'Brien of Springfield, Illinois and Carol Henwood of San Francisco; his sister, Virginia Worn of Brandon, Vermont, and four grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 18, at 11 a.m. at The Presbyterian Church in Westfield. There will be no visitation.
Private burial was arranged by the Gray Funeral Home, 318 East Broad Street, in Westfield.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Overlook Hospital Foundation, P. O. Box 220, Summit, 07901, or The Presbyterian Church in Westfield, 140 Mountain Avenue, Westfield, 07090.

Joseph J. Stracuzzi, 90
Joseph J. Stracuzzi, 90, of Grapevine, Texas died on Sunday, April 12, 1998 in Columbia North Hills Hospital in North Richland Hills, Texas.
Born in Westfield, he moved to Scotch Plains in 1936. He had lived there until moving to Grapevine six months ago.
Mr. Stracuzzi had been an assembly worker for General Motors in Linden for 38 years, retiring in 1970.
He was a member of United Auto Workers Local No. 595 in Linden.
He was predeceased by his wife, Martha Stracuzzi, on August 1, 1997.
Surviving are two sons, J. Charles Stracuzzi of Grand Island, Nebraska and James P. Stracuzzi of Grapevine; a sister, Nell Williams of Westfield, and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 18, at the Memorial Funeral Home, 155 South Avenue, in Fanwood. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Memorial Fund of the First United Methodist Church, 1 East Broad Street, Westfield, 07090.
