RONDELEIN L. "RONDA" HOMAN, 64, of Long Branch died Dec. 5 at home after a battle with cancer. Born in Bridgeport, Conn., she resided in Brooklyn, N.Y., before moving to Long Branch in 1956. She was a manager at H & R Block, Red Bank. She worked at Brunswick Monmouth Lanes, Long Branch. She was a member, choir member and former lay leader at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, Long Branch. She was also a member of St. Luke’s 49’ers. She was a 25-year secretary for the bowling league the Bored Strykers. She was predeceased by her husband, Walter Homan, in 1985. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Walter and Susan Homan of Beachwood; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Laurie Homan of Long Branch; Kathy and Stephen Karinja of Rumson; and Lisa and Robert Cozza of Suwanee, Ga.; her brother, Joseph Paslov of Connecticut; her sister, Joan Buffandeau of California; and 10 grandchildren. ELIZABETH "BETTY" MARY DALY BERNER, 64, of Eatontown died Dec. 6 at home. Born in Jersey City, she had resided in the River Plaza section of Middletown for 31 years before moving to Eatontown four years ago. Mrs. Berner was a certified nursing assistant at Arnold Walter Nursing Home, Hazlet, for 14 years before her retirement. Prior to that, she was a private duty nurse’s aide for 10 years. She was a communicant of St. Dorothea’s Roman Catholic Church, Eatontown. Her activities included spending time with her family, reading, music, and occasionally opening her home to those in need. She was predeceased by a son, Michael K. Berner, and a sister, Judi Booth. Mrs. Berner is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, James A. and Colleen A. Berner of Tinton Falls, and Bryan James Berner, with whom she lived; two daughters and one son-in-law, Mary Catherine and Henry J. Remmer of Wilmington, N.C., and Kathleen Berner of Los Angeles; her brother, James Joseph Daly of Keyport; her sister, Kathleen Kazary of Fords; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. LOUIS MASTRIA, 78, of Rumson died Jan. 1 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Jersey City, he had been a resident of Rumson for the past 44 years. Mr. Mastria was a deputy comptroller at Fort Monmouth Signal School, Eatontown, for 38 years, retiring in 1979. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 3187, Fair Haven, and the Officers Club, Fort Monmouth. He enjoyed time with his family, and was an avid baseball player and played with the Tigers Athletic Club. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Carmela Piroso Mastria of Rumson; two sons and daughters-in-law, Louis "Corky" and Ann Marie Mastria Jr. of Monmouth Beach, and John P. and Karen E. Mastria of Middletown; his daughter and son-in-law, Frances L. and Dr. Keith Sharkan of Malvern, Pa.; two brothers, Vincent Mastria of Belleville, and Richard Mastria of Cape Cod, Mass.; and seven grandchildren. PRACIDO "PETE" FICARRA, 74, of Shrewsbury Township died Jan. 13 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Red Bank, he lived there prior to moving to Shrewsbury Township in 1964. Mr. Ficarra was a security guard at Fort Monmouth, Eatontown, for several years. He served with the U.S. Navy from 1946-48. His activities included horse racing and music, especially the music of Frank Sinatra. He is survived by his son, Peter L. Ficarra of Shrewsbury Township; his brother, Bill Figaro of Swansboro, N.C.; two sisters, Ann J. Witek of Middletown and Jean Tillman of Elmhurst, N.Y.; and one granddaughter. Interment

GERALDINE "DEANIE" F. STECKROTH, 54, of Little Silver died Jan. 3 at home after a lengthy battle with breast cancer. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she resided in South Orange prior to moving to Little Silver in 1975. Mrs. Steckroth was a former elementary school teacher at Montrose School, South Orange. She was a daily communicant and Eucharistic minister at the Church of the Nativity, Fair Haven. She was a member of the Little Silver Board of Education, and founder and president of the Red Bank Regional Education Foundation. Her activities included spending time with her family. MADELINE A. GEIGER, 70, of Middletown died Jan. 15 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Hoboken, she resided in Middletown since 1968. CHARLES J. RAJNER, 59, of the Port Monmouth section of Middletown, died Jan. 13 at home. Born in Tarnopol, Poland, he moved to the United States in 1949. He lived in New York City, Brooklyn, and Queens, N.Y., before moving to Port Monmouth in 1984. He was a retired cable splicer for Verizon, Brooklyn, for 30 years. He served with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. He was predeceased by his parents, Emanuel and Karolina Rajner; a brother, Benny Reiner, in 1997; and two sisters, Janka Gorski and Sr. Mary Rajner, both in 1998. JAMES L. DINEN, 83, of Fair Haven died Jan. 10 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. He was born in Long Branch. Mr. Dinen was a retired plant service supervisor at New Jersey Bell Telephone Co., where he was employed serving Long Branch, Asbury Park, Red Bank and Trenton for 40 years. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a communicant of the Church of the Nativity, Fair Haven. DOROTHY J. CUSICK EDMOND, 73, of Eatontown died Jan. 16 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Newark, she resided in Shrewsbury Township prior to moving to Eatontown eight years ago. Mrs. Edmond was a domestic worker for several local families. She was a communicant of St. Dorothea’s Roman Catholic Church, Eatontown. Her activities included baseball and she was an avid fan of the New York Yankees. She is survived by two sons, Kevin T.
