Francis J. Critelli

Francis J. Critelli, age 74 of Somerset, died on Sunday at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. He was born in Perth Amboy and had resided in Somerset for the past 45 years.
Mr. Critelli was a retired Registered Pharmacist at the Hurtado Center at Rutgers University. He was a member of the Rutgers Alumni Association, the Rutgers Pharmacy Association and the New Jersey Pharmacist Association. He was also a member of the Somerset County 200 Club and the National Rifle Association. He was an avid upland game hunter, raised German Short Haired Pointers and served as a judge in field trial competition.
Surviving are his son, David Critelli of Bradley Beach, his daughter, Lori Ann Hochheiser of Point Pleasant and his three grandchildren, Alison, Amy, and Alexis Hochheiser. Also surviving are his aunts, Marie M. Liston of Brick and Geraldine Kenny of Perth Amboy, his uncle, Andrew Haborak of Perth Amboy and many cousins.

Virginia “Genie” Conter

Virginia “Genie” Conter, age 82, died on Wednesday at her home in Middletown. She was born in South Amboy and grew up in Sewaren, living in Hazlet most of her adult life.
Genie worked at Charles of the Ritz in Holmdel for 10 years retiring in 1986 and previously was a statistical clerk at Johnson and Johnson in New Brunswick for 25 years.
She was predeceased by her husband, Carl William “Ducky” Conter who died in 2004.
Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne F. and Cindy Conter of Fords, NJ and Brian J. and Karen Conter of Tinton Falls, NJ and her four grandchildren, Nicole, Brianna, William, and Jessica. Also surviving are her sisters, Connie Kucsera of Sewaren, NJ and Lillian Demack of Helmetta, NJ her brothers, Vincent Diforti of Perth Amboy, NJ and James Diforti of Stroudsburg, PA and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jake Douglas Chonka

Jake Douglas Chonka, age 5 months of Edison, died on Friday at The Children’s Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. He was born in St Peters University Hospital in New Brunswick to his parents, Lynne Volpe Chonka, an Elementary School teacher at the Washington School in Edison and Joseph Chonka of the Edison Township Police Department.
He is also survived by his twin sister, Katelyn Elizabeth, his maternal grandparents, Joseph and Stephanie Volpe of Fords and his paternal grandparents, Joseph and Marlene Chonka of Edison, and his maternal great-grandparents, Josephine Ganz and Julia Volpe both of Wayne.

Yvonne M. Zwartynski

Yvonne M. Zwartynski, age 81 of Edison, died on Thursday at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center in Newark. She was born in Krakow, Poland and had resided in Edison for the past 42 years.
Mrs. Zwartynski was an Administrative Assistant at Douglas College Alumni Office at Rutgers University in New Brunswick for 21 years, retiring in 1992. She was a communicant at St. Francis Cathedral in Metuchen, a member of the Rosary Society and a member of the Metuchen Senior Citizens. She was well versed in European Languages and literature.
She was predeceased by her husband, Andrew A. Zwartynski who died in 2003.
Surviving are her daughter, Alexandra Ann Rush of Metuchen, her son, Mark Andrew Zwartynski of Allen, Texas and her grandchildren, Andrew Rush and Andrea and Sarah Zwartynski.

Hermine Williamson

Hermine Williamson, age 95, died on Friday at her home in Perth Amboy. She was born in and was a lifelong resident of Perth Amboy.
Mrs. Williamson was a homemaker who devoted her to time to her family. She was the oldest member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Perth Amboy and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Carteret.
She was predeceased by her husband, William R. Williamson who died in 1986 after 51 years of marriage.
Surviving are her daughter, Joy Williamson of Perth Amboy, her son and daughter-in-law, William R. Jr. and Ann Williamson of Hardy VA, her grandchildren, William R. Williamson, III and his wife, Allisia of Newtown PA, Kristen Rimek and Her husband, Gunther of Howell, NJ and Karen Behrmann and her husband, Brian of Fletcher, NC. Also surviving are five great-grandchildren, Jake and Tanner Williamson, Ryan and Meghan Rimek and Ana Behrmann and many loving nieces and nephews and wonderful neighbors.

Grace R. Protonentis

Grace R. Protonentis, age 90 of Hazlet, died on Sunday at the Regency Park Manor Nursing Home in Hazlet. She was born in Perth Amboy where she resided most of her life until moving to Hazlet in 1980.
Mrs. Protonentis was a member of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Perth Amboy, a member of the St. Demetrios Senior Citizens and the Ladies Philoptochos Society of the church.
She was predeceased by her husband, Louis T. Protonentis who died in 1979.
Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law, Theodore and Ruth Protonentis of Newburgh, NY, Thomas and Barbara Protonentis of Brick and George Protonentis of Hazlet, her sister, Mae Sutkowski of Parlin and her goddaughter, Renee Adler of Morganville. Also surviving are six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Mary Anne O’Connor

Mary Anne O’Connor, age 79, passed away on Saturday, peacefully at her home, surrounded by her family and friend Julie Graham. Mrs. O’Connor was born in Flushing, New York on October 23, 1928 to John and Rose Leonard. She later moved to New York City where she graduated from Sacred Heart of Mary High School, Class of ‘46 and went on to work for Columbia Presbyterian Hospital. In 1954 she moved with her husband, John O’Connor to Menlo Park Terrace in Metuchen, NJ.
Mrs. O’Connor was an original member of the American Legion Post 471 Ladies Auxiliary in Iselin, NJ for 45 years, an active member of the Roosevelt Hospital Auxiliary for over 20 years and a Cub Scout den mother in the 50’s.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 50 years, John O’Connor.
She is survived by her children John O’Connor of Metuchen, Patricia Stankus and her husband, Kurt of Flemington and Michael O’Connor and his wife, Anne of Edison and her grandchildren, Connor Stankus, Chelsea Stankus, Kayla O’Connor and Tara O’Connor.
Visitation: Friday, May 23, 2008 4:00-8:00 p.m.
