Richard N. Kimble, 71
Richard N. Kimble, 71, of Plainfield died on Friday, March 3, 2000 in Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center in Plainfield.
Born in Middlesex County, Va., he lived in Plainfield for over 60 years.
Mr. Kimble had worked for many years, most recently making deliveries for Garden State Auto Parts in Piscataway, before retiring in 1997.
He served in the United States Army during peacetime.
He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Plainfield.
Mr. Kimble sang and played the piano, organ, and French horn for various bands along the East Coast for many years.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Rose Box, in 1990. Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Helen Robinson Kimble; two sons, Richard A. Kimble and Edward K. Kimble, both of Plainfield; a step daughter, Linda Slaughter of Scotch Plains; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A funeral service was held on Tuesday, March 7, at the Higgins Home For Funerals in Plainfield.
Grace Jacob, 82
County Employee Had Street Named in Her Honor
Grace Fecosky Jacob, 82, of Mountainside died on Wednesday, March 1, 2000 at Overlook Hospital in Summit.
Born in Newark, she had lived in Kearny and Fanwood before moving to Mountainside more than 30 years ago.
Mrs. Jacob had been a receptionist/ clerk typist for the Union County Extension Office in Westfield for 18 years. Jacob’s Lane, located off Lambert's Mill Road in Westfield, was named in her honor.
She was a communicant of St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church in Cranford.
She was predeceased by her husband, George Jacob, in 1985; a son, George (Pete) Jacob, Jr., in 1991, and a brother, John Fecosky.
Surviving are two daughters, Barbara P. Jacob and Kathleen G. Young; a son, Richard Jacob; three sisters, Gloria Gillespie, Eleanor Sobolewski and Harriet Curtis; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, March 18, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Michael’s Church.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Rossi Funeral Home in Scotch Plains.
Joseph A. Ierardi, Jr.
Joseph A. Ierardi, Jr., 42, of Miami, Fla. died on Saturday, February 19, 2000 at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami.
Born in Hackensack, he was raised in Westfield and lived in Miami for the past 22 years.
Mr. Ierardi was a self-employed construction worker in the Miami area.
He was a graduate of Westfield High School.
Surviving are his parents, Joseph A. Ierardi, Sr. and Vivian Ierardi of Westfield; his grandmother, Vivian Giuliano; two brothers, Anthony Ierardi of Point Pleasant and John Ierardi of Plainfield, and a sister, Luanne Carlton of Newtown Square, Pa.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered on Tuesday, March 7, at St. Anne’s Roman Catholic Church in Garwood.
Burial took place in Fairview Cemetery in Westfield.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Dooley Colonial Home, 556 Westfield Avenue in Westfield.
Memorial donations may be made either to Children’s Specialized Hospital in Mountainside or to Youth and Family Counseling Service, 233 Prospect Street, Westfield, 07090.
Richard Chamberlin, 43
Systems Analyst; Had Played Semi-Professional Soccer
Richard F. Chamberlin, 43, of Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif., died on Tuesday, February 29, 2000 at the Sunbridge Care Center in Huntington Beach, Calif.
Born in Millburn, he had lived in Westfield for more than 30 years before moving to California in 1988.
Mr. Chamberlin was employed as a senior systems analyst with the McDonnell Douglas Corporation in California.
During the 1980s, he had worked as a systems analyst for the Worthington Pump Company in Harrison.
A 1974 graduate of Westfield High School, he received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Franklin and Marshall College of Lancaster, Pa. in 1978 and was an active member of the Phi Kappa Tau fraternity.
He later earned a Master of Business Administration Degree from Seton Hall University in South Orange.
Mr. Chamberlin played soccer on both his high school and college teams and briefly played semi-professionally in Europe.
He coached youth soccer during the past several years and attended the Saddleback Christian Church in Rancho Santa Margarita.
Surviving are his mother, Hilda Chamberlin of Rancho Santa Margarita, and a sister, Betty Chamberlin of Huntington Beach.
Services will be held on Tuesday, March 14, at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, 170 Elm Street in Westfield. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield.
Visitation will be held on Monday, March 13, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Dooley Colonial Home, 556 Westfield Avenue in Westfield.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Brain Tumor Association, 2720 River Road, Des Plaines, Ill., 60018.
Kent Schmalenberger, 46
Auto Mechanic; Graduated From Westfield High School
Kent C. Schmalenberger, 46, of Plainfield died on Saturday, March 4, 2000 at home.
Born in Plainfield, he had lived in Westfield before moving back to Plainfield. He was a graduate of Westfield High School.
Mr. Schmalenberger was employed for more than 25 years as an ASE Certified automobile mechanic in the Westfield area.
Surviving are his mother, Sally Beckwith of Plainfield; two sisters, Anne Marsh of Bath, Me. and Susan Kaprosch of Piscataway, and two brothers, Gary Schmalenberger of Cranford and Stewart Schmalenberger of Iselin.
A memorial service was held yes terday, Wednesday, March 8, at the Grace Episcopal Church in Plainfield.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Higgins Home for Funerals in Plainfield.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Plainfield Rescue Squad.
Peter Weidenbacher, 75
Peter Weidenbacher, 75, of Brick died on Monday, March 6, 2000 at the Kimball Medical Center in Lakewood.
Born in New York City, he had lived in Mountainside prior to moving to Brick.
Mr. Weidenbacher had been President of the Henry Richter Company of Mountainside before retiring in 1989 after 35 years with the company.
He served as a Seaman First Class in the United States Navy during World War II.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of Brick; the New Jersey Submarine Veterans, Ling Chapter of Hackensack; the Bucknell Alumni Association of Lewisburg, Pa.; the Kappa Sigma Alumni Association; the American Legion in Point Pleasant and Lions International.
Mr. Weidenbacher graduated from Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pa. in 1950 with a Bachelor of Science Degree.
He was a member of the Point Pleasant Presbyterian Church in Point Pleasant.
Surviving are a son, Drew Weidenbacher of Bellingham, Wash.; two daughters, Sally Stedman of Guilford, Conn. and Nancy Boyd of Waterford, Mich.; a brother, Dr. Richard L. Weidenbacher, Jr. of Jackson Heights, N.Y.; a sister, Lee Winborne of Roanoke, Va.; six grandsons and a great-grandson.
There will be no visitation. A private burial at sea will be conducted. Memorial donations may be made to the Peter Weidenbacher Soccer Scholarship Fund, care of Bucknell University, Lewisburg, Pa., 17837.

Ronald Blackmore, 49
Ronald Ross Blackmore, 49, of Palmyra died on Friday, March 3, 2000 at home.
Born in Westfield, he had lived in the New Jersey Shore area for 20 years before relocating to Palmyra 10 years ago.
Mr. Blackmore was employed as an independent truck driver.
He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
Surviving are a son, Eric Blackmore of Palmyra; his father, Carlton O. Blackmore of Juno Beach, Fla., and two brothers, Douglas W. Blackmore of Grand Rapids, Mich. and Bruce C. Blackmore of Colts Neck.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. today, Thursday, March 9, at the Higgins Memorial Home in Freehold.
