Dollie Stradford, 55
Assembly Worker; Active With Aenon Baptist Church
Dollie L. Stradford, 55, of Scotch Plains died on Friday, March 31, 2000 at Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center in Plainfield.
Born in Chester, S. C., she had lived in Vauxhall before moving to Scotch Plains 29 years ago.
Mrs. Stradford had been employed as an assembler for Silverline Building Products in North Brunswick for 14 years.
She was a member of the Aenon Baptist Church in Vauxhall for 37 years and was a missionary there.
Surviving are her husband, John Stradford; a son, Kelvin D. Stradford of Scotch Plains; a daughter, Belinda Stradford of Scotch Plains; her mother, Elner W. Glenn of Red Bank; two sisters, Beatrice Glenn of Red Bank and Elizabeth Glenn of Irvington; five brothers, Jesse Glenn of Irvington, Haywood Glenn and William Glenn, both of Chester, S.C., Columbus Glenn of Irvington and Michael Irvin of Germany, and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were held yesterday, Wednesday, April 5, at the Aenon Baptist Church.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Judkins Colonial Home in Plainfield.
Robert Heffernan, 65
Was Postal Clerk; of New Jersey Jazz Society re
Robert W. Heffernan, 65, of Edison died on Monday, April 3, 2000 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick.
Born in New Brunswick, he had lived there for 20 years and in Piscataway for 25 years before moving to Edison.
Mr. Heffernan had been employed as a clerk with the Highland Park Post Office for 40 years, retiring in 1995.
He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose in South River and a member of the New Jersey Jazz Society.
Surviving are his wife, Thea Heffernan; two sons, Robert W. Heffernan, Jr. of Bridgewater and Brian Heffernan of Edison; two daughters, Deborah Morone of Middlesex and Jennifer Heffernan of Edison; a brother, Donald Heffernan of Woodbridge; a sister, Elizabeth Czaszar of Mountainside, and five grandchildren.
A blessing will be offered at 10 a.m. tomorrow, Friday, April 7, at the Boylan Funeral Home in Edison.
Burial will take place at St. Peter’s Cemetery in New Brunswick.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. today, Thursday, April 6, at the funeral home.
Dorothy Riddle, 74
Taught Biology At Plainfield High School for 17 Years
Dorothy Riddle, 74, of Westfield died on Thursday, March 30, 2000 in Rahway Hospital.
Born in Detroit, she lived in Westfield since 1957.
Mrs. Riddle had taught biology at Plainfield High School for 17 years before retiring in 1987.
Previously, she had worked as a substitute teacher in Clark and Westfield.
She earned a bachelor’s degree in 1946 and a master’s degree in 1960, both in science, from Wayne State University in Detroit.
She was a member of the New Jersey Education Association for many years.
Surviving are her husband of 54 years, Lawrence P. Riddle; two daughters, Jeri R. Miller and Kristi LaRosa; a son, Hamilton Paul Riddle, and three grandchildren.
Services were held on Tuesday, April 4, in the Chapel of The Presbyterian Church in Westfield.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Gray Funeral Home, 318 East Broad Street in Westfield.
Bernard Rowe, 82
Corporate Attorney; Was in Army Intelligence During War
Bernard Rowe, 82, of Westfield died on Friday, April 1, 2000 in Rahway Hospital.
Born in South River, he had lived in Elizabeth and in Roselle Park before moving to Westfield 40 years ago.
A corporate attorney, Mr. Rowe had served as General Counsel for the Canada Dry Corporation in New York City before retiring in 1982. Prior to that, he had worked for Norton Simon, Inc. in New York City as assistant to the President, Secretary and General Counsel of the McCall Corporation.
He had earlier been in private practice in Newark and Dover.
Mr. Rowe graduated summa cum laude in 1938 from Lafayette University in Easton, Pa., where he received a Gary scholarship.
He was awarded an Epstein scholarship while attending Harvard Law School, from which he graduated in 1941. He was admitted to the New Jersey Bar Association in 1942.
He was a First Lieutenant in the military intelligence of the United States Army during World War II.
He was a life member of the Union County Figure Skating Club.
Surviving are his wife, Lily Rowe; two daughters, Lois Fishman and Janice Blinder, and four grandchildren.
Services were held on Sunday, April 2, in the Higgins and Bonner Echo Lake Funeral Home in Westfield.
Morton White
Life Dates: May 23, 1922 – January 16, 2005
Morton White, age 82 of Perth Amboy, died on Sunday at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York. He was born in Meriden, CT and had resided in Perth Amboy for the last 74 years.
Mr. White was an undercover agent for the US Government. He traveled in the United States and gathered information on criminal activities in cities near and around military bases. He retired from government service in 1989.
He was a veteran of the US Army serving during WWII in the invasion of North Africa. He served as a radio operator and was wounded in Tunisia. He was a member of the American Legion Post #45, Perth Amboy, the Perth Amboy VFW Post #663 and the Forty and Eight. He was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans Association.
In 2002 he was predeceased by his wife of 38 years, Charlotte Silverstein White.
Survived by: Surviving are his cousins, Louis and Carol Greene of California, and Michael and Debbie Skomba and their children Danielle and Michael in Branchburg, and his nephew, Jerry Putzer and his family in Connecticut.
He spent his last years surrounded by the most wonderful and caring homemakers, nurses and friends whose kindness and compassion will never be forgotten.

Gladys E. Leddie
Life Dates: January 15, 1920 - January 16, 2005
Gladys E. Leddie, age 85 of Woodbridge, died on Sunday at JFK Medical Center in Edison. She was born in Rahway and resided in Warren before moving to Woodbridge 34 years ago. Mrs. Leddie retired in 1980 from Unisys Company in Warren after 13 years.
Her first husband, Anthony Sanzone who died in 1957 predeceased her.
Survived by: Surviving are her husband, James M. Leddie, her sons and daughters-in-law, Vincent and Susan Sanzone of Piscataway and John and Donna Leddie of Glen Gardner, her daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and James Petersen of Neshanic Station, her brother, Philip Vansco of Sarasota FL and her sister, Myrtle Stiles of New Port Richie, FL. Also surviving are her grandchildren, James, Lisa, Anthony, Vincent, Christopher, Susan, Johnnie and Ericka and her great-grandson Daniel.
Visitation: Wednesday, January 19, 2005 2:00-4:00 & 7:00-9:00 p.m.

Ruth Nelson
Life Dates: June 2, 1921 - January 12, 2005
Ruth Nelson, age 83 of Perth Amboy, died on Wednesday at Beth Israel Hospital in Passaic. She was born in South Amboy and resided most of her life in Perth Amboy.
Mrs. Nelson was the Administrator at Local #72 Labor Union in Perth Amboy. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and the Altar Guild in Perth Amboy.
Her husband, John Nelson who died in 1973 predeceased her.
Survived by: Surviving are her sons, Donald J. Nelson of Rutherford, Gary Nelson of Flemington and Richard Nelson of Easton, PA and her grandchildren, Gary Jr., Julie, Melissa and Jessica.
