Tina J. DeFalco
Mrs. DeFalco, 86, of Little Silver, died Oct. 14 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Red Bank, she resided in Little Silver the past 48 years. She was a teacher at Red Bank Middle School, retiring in 1994. Upon retirement, she received a special award for 53 years of service from former President George H.W. Bush. Prior to that, she taught at Oakland Street and Mechanic Street schools, Red Bank, and was honored as Teacher of the Year in 1978. She also served on the New Jersey Education Association Board of Examiners for 15 years. She was inducted into the Red Bank Regional High School Hall of Fame in 2004. She was predeceased by her husband, Gene; a brother, Gerald Canella; and a sister, Marie DeFillippo. She is survived by a son and daughter-ion-law, Gene and Candy DeFalco, of Fair Haven; two sisters, Ann Mandia, of Rumson, and Christina Blenke, of White House Station; and three grandchildren. Samuel J. Steele
Mr. Steele, 61, of Highlands, died Oct. 24 at home. Born in Newark, he resided in Irvington prior to moving to Highlands nine years ago. Mr. Steele was a computer operator at Home Life Insurance Co., Piscataway, where he was employed six years before retiring. Prior to that, he was employed at AIRCO, Irvington. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. Mr. Steele is survived by his wife of 36 years, Carolyn Svenson Steele; a son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Alexi Steele of Tinton Falls; a daughter, Michelle Steele of Neptune; and one grandson. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church, Atlantic Highlands, followed by burial at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown. Arrangements were by John F. Mary Margaret Norton
Mrs. Norton, 46, of Red Bank, died Dec. 20 at home. She resided in Shrewsbury and Red Bank, for approximately 25 years. She was the founder and owner of H. Davidson Design, Red Bank, and photos of her interior design work were featured in several magazines. Prior to that, she was a homemaker, and executive secretary. She was a communicant of Church of the Nativity, Fair Haven. She enjoyed cooking, entertaining and riding her motorcycle. She was predeceased by her father, John Dalton; two sisters, Barbara Dalton Burstein and Kathleen Dalton; and a brother, Michael Dalton. She is survived by four daughters, Ryan, Taylor, Kaylan and Augusta; a son, Dillan; her husband, Robert Norton; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial

Dr. Edward H. Devine
Dr. Edward H. Devine, V.M.D., of Little Silver, died Dec. 14 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. He resided in Little Silver the past 42 years. He was an equine veterinarian for more than 45 years, and was nationally recognized in the field of equine medicine. Prior to becoming a vet, he interned at Claiborne Farm, Kentucky. He was a veteran of World War II and served as a China Marine pilot. He was a communicant of Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church, Rumson. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Devine; a son, Edward Kenny Devine of Little Silver; four daughters, Dr. Mary Ann Devine of New Hope, Pa., Mary Beth Devine Swanson of Missoula, Mont., Maureen Devine D’Souza of Whitefish Bay, Wis., and Eileen Marie Devine of Little Silver; a brother, Richard Devine of Glenside, Pa.; and seven grandchildren. Rose Basso Maletto
Mrs. Maletto, 91, of Eatontown, died Dec. 2 at St. Barnabas Hospice Center at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. She resided in Red Bank prior to moving to Eatontown 33 years ago. She was a homemaker. She was a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. She enjoyed cooking and gardening. She was predeceased by her first husband, Mauro Basso; and her second husband, John J. Maletto. She is survived buy three sons, Anthony Basso of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., Michael Basso of the Oakhurst section of Ocean Township, and John V. David L. Treger
Mr. Treger, 25, of the Cliffwood Beach section of Aberdeen, died Dec. 20 in Newark, Del. Born in Red Bank, he resided in Long Branch and Aberdeen before moving to Cliffwood Beach. Mr. Treger was a laborer and truck driver for Traffic Lines Inc., Farmingdale. He was an active member of the U.S. Army Reserve and served for three years in Alaska. Mr. Treger is survived by his wife, Kristen Cerovsky Treger; his father and stepmother, David and Nancy Treger of Long Branch; his mother and stepfather, Christine and Nico Araco of Cliffwood Beach; a brother, Nico Araco of Cliffwood Beach; a stepbrother, B.J. Cornine; two stepsisters, Amanda and Geri Cornine; his paternal grandparents, Mary and Albert Treger of Middletown;. his maternal grandparents, Mary and Harold Hauss of the Cliffwood section of Aberdeen; his mother-in-law, Denise Petner of Cliffwood Beach; his father-in-law, Frank Cerovsky of Keansburg; two brothers-in-law, Brian Cerovsky of Keansburg and Frank Cerovsky of Hazlet; and three aunts and two uncles, Maryruth and Edward Welstead of Little Silver, Lisa Lazzarotti of Cliffwood, and Lynn and Mark Christopher of Vancouver, Wash. Mae Martens Krouse
Mrs. Krouse, 93, of Red Bank, died Dec. 4 at her daughter’s home in Monmouth Beach. Born in Gladbrook, Iowa, she resided in St. Louis, and relocated to Rumson in 1949 prior to moving to Red Bank. She was a member of Rumson Presbyterian Church. She performed social work with children and did volunteer work for several years. She enjoyed time with her family, and bridge. She was predeceased by her husband, Marion Krouse; four brothers, Robert, Albert, George and James Martens; and a sister, Margaret. She is survived by two daughters, Carol Sullivan of Monmouth Beach, and Barbara Williamson of Rumson; two sons, Roger Krouse of Asbury Park, and Donald Krouse of Weaverville, Calif.; a sister, Dorothy Cablish of St. Louis; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A memorial service was at Navesink House, Red Bank, where she resided. Arrangements were by John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank. Albert Clark Sniffen
Mr. Sniffen, 51, of Tinton Falls, died Dec. 7 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Long Branch, he had resided in Oceanport before moving to Tinton Falls nine months ago. Mr. Sniffen was a custom house painter with Albert C. Smith Custom House Painting, Tinton Falls. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police. He was a 1971 graduate of Shore Regional High School. Mr. Sniffen was predeceased by his father, Albert Sniffen. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Mary Boyton Sniffen; his mother, Barbara Sniffen of Oceanport; two sons, Alan Sniffen and Bryan Sniffen, both of Tinton Falls; a daughter, Lisa Dancey of North Whales, Pa.; four sisters, Patricia Nicastro of Union Beach, Donna Miceli of Riverdale, Elizabeth Sniffen of New York City, and Katheryn Miele of Oceanport; two brothers, John Sniffen of Oceanport and Matthew Sniffen of West Long Branch; and 10 nieces and nephews. Francis A. “Hank” Cannavo Sr.
Mr. Cannavo, 86, of Casselberry, Fla., and formerly Red Bank, died Dec. 5 following a brief illness. Born in Red Bank, he resided there prior to moving to Casselberry in 1994. During his retirement, he worked 10 years at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. Prior to that, he was a civil servant at Fort Monmouth, Eatontown, for 27 years, retiring in 1973. He served with the U.S. Army as a staff sergeant from 1941-45. He enjoyed golf. He was predeceased by his wife of 44 years, Marianne, in 1990; a brother, William V. Cannavo; and a sister, Theresa Maniscalco. He is survived by two sons, Francis A. Cannavo Jr. of Lexington, Ky., and Michael Cannavo of Winter Springs, Fla.; a sister, Mary DeLorenzo of Red Bank; a brother, Joseph Cannavo of Succasunna; two grandsons; and several nieces and nephews. Brittany I. Reilly
Brittany Reilly, 15, of Union Beach, died Nov. 12 at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune. Born in Staten Island, N.Y., she resided there before moving to Union Beach three years ago. Brittany was a student at Red Bank Regional High School, Little Silver, where she studied computer graphics. She was a communicant of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Union Beach. She enjoyed music and videos. Brittany is survived by her parents, Paul and Irene Coffey Reilly; a sister, Kelsey A. Reilly of Union Beach; two brothers, Randy Snyder of Staten Island and Ryan Snyder of Toms River; her grandmother, Dorothy Reilly Palazzola of Staten Island; her great-grandmother, Kathleen Minucci of New York; and three nephews.
