Mary Sullivan, 79
Mary Kelly Sullivan, 79, of Scotch Plains died on Friday, April 21, 2000 at home.
Born in Germantown, Pa., she had lived in Westfield and Fanwood before settling in Scotch Plains in 1959.
Mrs. Sullivan had been an occupational therapist for the Veterans Administration, working at the Lyons Veterans Administration Hospital in Bernardsville and the East Orange Veterans Administration Hospital. She was a therapist for 15 years before retiring in 1983.
She was a member of the Women’s Auxiliary for the Raritan Valley Barber Shop Choir.
She was predeceased by her husband, Richard Sullivan, Sr., in 1996. Surviving are two sons, Daniel W. Sullivan and Richard F. Sullivan, Jr., and two daughters, Kathleen M. Cherwinski and Mitzi Sullivan.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, May 6, at 10 a.m. at St. Bartholomew the Apostle Roman Catholic Church in Scotch Plains.
Arrangements were handled by the Rossi Funeral Home in Scotch Plains. Interment took place at St. Gertrude’s Cemetery in Colonia.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Scotch Plains Rescue Squad, P. O. Box 325, Scotch Plains, 07076.

Eleanor Blauvelt, 90
Eleanor Blauvelt, 90, of Forked River died on Sunday, April 30, 2000 at home.
Born in Newark, she had lived in Belleville and in Westfield before moving to Forked River 28 years ago.
Mrs. Blauvelt was a volunteer at Community Medical Center in Toms River.
Surviving is a brother, Leslie Fey Glenck.
Services were held, Thursday, May 4, in the Growney Funeral Home in Forked River.

Josephine M. Altieri, 98
Josephine M. Altieri, 98, of Scotch Plains died on Sunday, April 30, 2000 in Runnells Specialized Hospital of Union County in Berkeley Heights.
Born in Jersey City, she moved to Scotch Plains in 1992.
Miss Altieri had been a seamstress with Post Garment Industries in Jersey City from 1927 until her retirement in 1972.
Surviving are two nieces and a nephew; 11 grandnieces and grandnephews and six great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews.
Services were held Wednesday, May 3, at the Rossi Funeral Home in Scotch Plains.

William Gorski, 83
Industrial Engineer; Held Offices Within Holy Name Society
William “Bill” Gorski, 83, of Clark died on Friday, April 28, 2000 at Union Hospital in Union.
Born in Elizabeth, he was a resident of Clark since 1955.
Mr. Gorski had been employed as an industrial engineer with the Diehl Manufacturing Company, General Instrument Corporation Automatic Manufacturing Division, for 21 years before retiring in 1978.
He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Elizabeth and was a member of the A. C. Starlings basketball team.
In the 1940s, he played on the Diehl Manufacturing Company Industrial League Championship softball teams.
He also played on the B league of the City of Elizabeth with the prominent Red Aces A. C.
Mr. Gorski attended the Rutgers University United States Office of Education engineering, science, and management war training course in 1942 and 1945.
He was a parishioner of St. Mark’s Roman Catholic Church in Rahway, where he was also past President and Membership Chairman of the Holy Name Society.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 1146 in Rahway and the Father John P. Washington 4th Degree Assembly.
Mr. Gorski was a member of the American Federation of Musicians Local No. 151 as a vocalist.
He played in many bands, mostly with the Johnny Jack Orchestra for 28 years.
He was an active member of the Republican Party in Clark and ran for the Town Council in 1960.
He was a member of the Arthur L. Johnson High School Booster Club for many years and assisted in construction of the press box at the high school football field in Clark.
He was a member of the Oak Ridge Golf Club in Clark, playing in many club tournaments, and also worked in the pro shop there.
Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Genevieve Gorski; four sons, Wayne Gorski of Bozeman, Mont., William Gorski of Berkeley Heights, Gregory Gorski of Westfield and Jeffery Gorski of Chapel Hill, N.C.; eight grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
A Mass was offered at St. Mark’s Church on Tuesday, May 2, following the funeral from the Krowicki Gorny Funeral Home in Clark.
Memorial donations may be sent to the St. Mark’s Church Building Fund, 287 Hamilton Street, Rahway, 07065.

Harold R. Siess, 69
Was Navy Veteran; Machinist and Toolmaker at Area Firm
Harold R. Siess, 69, of Westfield died on Saturday, April 29, 2000 at Union Hospital in Union.
Born in Elizabeth, he had lived in Hawaii before returning to Elizabeth. He moved to Westfield in 1969.
A wood and metal pattern maker, Mr. Siess had worked for the Singer Manufacturing Company in Elizabeth for seven years, the Worthington Pump Company in Harrison for 18 years, Walworth/Aloyco in Elizabeth for five years and Hayward Pool Products in Elizabeth for five years. He retired from Hayward in 1996.
After his retirement, he worked part-time as a machinist and toolmaker for Shelhigh, Inc. in Millburn.
A veteran of the Korean Conflict, Mr. Siess served as a Second Class Pattern Maker in the United States Navy and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He was a 33rd Degree Mason and a member of Free and Accepted Masons Azure Lodge No. 129 in Cranford, the Scottish Rite and the Eastern Star.
He was also a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Elizabeth. He was predeceased by his son, Donald R. Siess, in 1970.
Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Caroline Zachau Siess; a daughter, Lynne C. Siess Behre, and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were held, Thursday, May 4, at the Memorial Funeral Home, 155 South Avenue in Fanwood.
Interment followed at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Westfield Rescue Squad, P. O. Box 356, Westfield, 07091.

Carmela Triano, 85
Formerly Owned Glenview Manor Tavern for 35 Years
Carmela DeStefanis Triano, 85, of Fanwood died on Saturday, April 29, 2000 at home.
Born in Northfield, Vt., she was raised in Westfield and had lived there before moving to Fanwood 25 years ago.
She and her late husband, Anthony Triano, had owned the Glenview Manor Tavern in Scotch Plains for 35 years, retiring in 1975.
Besides her husband, she was predeceased by three brothers, Edward DeStefanis, John DeStefanis and Americo DeStefanis.
Surviving are three sisters, Jeanette Rotella and Julia Carlino, both of Westfield, and Linda Cirigliano of North Miami, Fla., and two brothers, Austin DeStefanis of Westfield and Vincent DeStefanis of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered on Tuesday, May 2, at the Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church in Westfield.
Interment took place at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Dooley Colonial Home, 556 Westfield Avenue in Westfield.
Memorial donations may be made to the Center for Hope Hospice, 176 Hussa Street, Linden, 07036.

Fouad Tabeek, 96
Senior Club Member; Worked in Defense Plant During War
Fouad Tabeek, 96, of Fanwood died on Tuesday, April 25, 2000 in Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center in Plainfield.
Born in Damascus, Syria, in 1904, he came to the United States in October of 1927, settling in Union City.
He had also lived in Weehawken for 30 years before moving to Fanwood in 1982.
Mr. Tabeek had been employed as a stock clerk for 23 years with Yardley of London in Totowa before retiring in 1968.
Prior to that, he had worked for American Lead Pencil for 16 years and later took a job at a defense plant during World War II.
He was a member of the Fanwood Senior Citizens for 15 years.
Surviving are Lydia Hashway Tabeek, his wife of nearly 60 years; two sons, Shafik Tabeek and Anthony Tabeek; two daughters, Gloria Rusnak and Margaret Tabeek; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A Mass was offered on Friday, April 28, at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church in Scotch Plains, following the funeral from the Memorial Funeral Home, 155 South Avenue in Fanwood.
Interment took place at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield.

Robert Bermingham, 69
Veteran; Local Retired Mason Contractor
Robert V. Bermingham, 69, of Scotch Plains died on Friday, May 5, 2000 at Trinitas Hospital, Williamson Street Campus, in Elizabeth.
Born in Roselle Park, he had lived in Westfield for 19 years before relocating to Scotch Plains 11 years ago.
He had been the owner and mason contractor of R. V. Bermingham Mason Contractors in Scotch Plains for 20 years, retiring in 1995.
He was a United States Army veteran, having served in the Korean Conflict.
Surviving are his wife, Karen A. Graves Bermingham; six sons, Edward Bermingham, Robert Bermingham, Bryan Bermingham, Timothy Bermingham, Robby Bermingham and Randy Bermingham; a daughter, Robin Anne Garrone; two brothers, Edmond Bermingham and David Bermingham, and nine grandchildren.
A service was held on Tuesday, May 9, at the Dooley Colonial Home, 556 Westfield Avenue in Westfield.
Interment took place at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield.
