Bernard J. Czech, Esq.
Life Dates: April 4, 1935 - August 14, 2003
Bernard Czech, age 68, died on Thursday at Lahey Clinic in Burlington, Massachusetts. He was born in Perth Amboy and was a lifetime resident of New Jersey.
Mr. Czech was a graduate of St. Mary's High School, Class of 1952. He graduated from Newark State College with a B.A. and went on to graduate from Rutger's Law School in Camden.
He worked as a detective with the Woodbridge Police Force and as an investigator with the Public Defender in Union County and twice as an investigator with the District Attorney's office in Middlesex County. He was also an Assistant District Attorney in Middlesex County. Currently he was a self-employed attorney working with the Public Defender's office in Mercer County.
His stepfather Nicholas Mallas predeceased him.
Survived by: Surviving are his mother, Helen Mallas of Hopelawn, his companion, Dorothy Hersh of Princeton, his brother's John Czech of Hopelawn and Allen Czech of South Plainfield, and his sister, Nicole Zablocki of Jamesburg.
Visitation: Sunday, August 17, 2003 2:00-4:00 & 7:00-9:00 p.m.; Monday, August 18, 2003 2:00-4:00 & 7:00-9:00 p.m.
Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Avenue, Fords, NJ.
Funeral Service: Tuesday, August 19, 2003 at 8:30 a.m. followed by a 9:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Rosary Church in Hopelawn.
Burial will be in Clover Leaf Memorial Park, Woodbridge.

Paul Dankovich
Life Dates: January 18, 1921 - July 23, 2003
Paul Dankovich, age 82, died on Wednesday in Haven Hospice at JFK Medical Center in Edison, NJ. He was born in North Braddock, PA and had resided in Edison for the last 56 years.
Mr. Dankovich was a custodian at John Adams Middle School for 22 years, retiring in 1984. He was a veteran of the US Army serving during WWII. He was a member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Church in Edison.
Survived by: Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Elizabeth Yuhas Dankovich, his son and daughter-in-law, Col. Paul and Toni Dankovich of Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio, his daughter, Arlene Farinich of Edison, and his granddaughters, Denise Skibar, Dawn Farinich, and Elizabeth and Heather Dankovich. Also surviving are his great-granddaughter, Bailey Skibar, his sisters, Helen Kochanik of Bridgewater, NJ and Irene Ozimok of Palm City, Fl. and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: Friday, July 25, 2003 2:00-4:00 & 7:00-9:00 p.m.
Panahida Service will be held at 7:30 p.m.
Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Avenue, Fords, NJ.
Funeral Service: Saturday, July 26, 2003 at 8:30 a.m. followed by a 9:00 a.m. Service of Divine Liturgy at St. Nicholas Byzantine Church, Edison.
Burial will be in St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia.
Memorial Contributions may be made to: Haven Hospice at JFK

Nicole Lee Drahos
Life Dates: November 6, 1986 - July 12, 2003
Nicole Lee Drahos, age 16, died on Saturday Raritan Bay Medical Center in Perth Amboy. She was born in Perth Amboy and was a life long resident of Woodbridge.
Nicole was a senior at Woodbridge High School. She had been a Bearcat Cheerleader for 3 years and a Demonstrator for 2 years.
Her mother, Kimberly Nagy Britt who died in 1996, her father, Joseph Drahos who died in 1987, and her paternal parents, Frank L. Sr. and Elizabeth A. Drahos predeceased her.
Survived by: Surviving are her stepfather, James Britt of Somerset, her brother, Jason Nagy of Manchester, her sister, Valerie Drahos of Old Bridge, her half-brother, Frank Drahos, her half-sister, Natalie Drahos of Old Bridge, and her maternal grandparents, John and Nancy Nagy. Also surviving are her aunts and uncles, Nancy and Frank Schiadaresis, Donna and George Arway, Dawn and Vincent Randazzo, Myra and Kelly Fuller, Robert and Sharon Drahos, Frank and Beverly Drahos and many cousins and friends.
Visitation: Tuesday, July 15, 2003 2:00-4:00 & 7:00-9:00 p.m.

Funeral Service: Wednesday, July 16, 2003 at 8:30 a.m. followed by a 9:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. James RC Church in Woodbridge.
Burial will be at St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia.

James B. Totten
James B. Totten of Shrewsbury, Mass., died on Sunday, October 15, 2000 at his home.
Born in Westfield, the son of Earl and Edith Crehore Totten, he had lived in Shrewsbury for eight years.
Mr. Totten had been a social worker at Olympus Specialty Hospital in Waltham for seven years before his retirement.
He previously worked at the former Cushing Hospital in Framingham for many years.
A graduate of St. Andrew’s Academy in Delaware and Amherst College in Amherst, Mass., he received graduate degrees in theater and social work from Boston University.
Mr. Totten was a member of the Second Congregational Church of Attleboro, Mass. He was also a member of the National Association of Social Workers.
He performed in summer stock theater at Cape Cod’s Falmouth Playhouse and the Community Theater of Walpole.
He was a United States Army veteran. Surviving are his wife of seven years, Tina Gianakis Totten; a son, James B. Totten, Jr. of Brooklyn; two daughters, Melissa Totten of California and Jennifer Totten of North Carolina, and a sister, Jean Totten of Rhode Island.
Visitation will be held at the Robert J. McNally Funeral Home in Clinton, Mass. from 5 to 8 p.m. today, Thursday, October 19.
A memorial service will be held in the Second Congregational Church of Attleboro at a later date. Interment will be private.
Memorial contributions may be made to The Angel Fund for Lou Gehrig’s Disease, Massachusetts General Hospital, 55 Fruit Street, Boston, Mass., 02114.

Michael McCauley, 44
Michael McCauley, 44, of Bedminster died on Monday, October 16, 2000 at his home.
Born in Baltimore, he was raised in Scotch Plains and had lived in Cranford before relocating to Bedminster in 1994.
Mr. McCauley was a pharmacist with St. Barnabas and Morristown Memorial Hospitals and Greyrock Pharmacy in Clinton.
He recently began a yearlong program at the Chubb Institute to expand his career horizons into the area of technology and web design.
He was a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Va.
He was predeceased by his parents, Donald McCauley, in 1992, and Dorothy McCauley, in 1993.
Surviving are three brothers, James McCauley, Donald McCauley and John McCauley, and four sisters, Monica McCauley, Joan Fenwick, Victoria Meeks and Laura Mazzaferro.
The funeral will be held tomorrow, Friday, October 20, at the Memorial Funeral Home, 155 South Avenue in Fanwood, followed by a Mass at St. Helen’s Roman Catholic Church in Westfield.
Interment will take place in Fairview Cemetery in Westfield.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. today, Thursday, October 19, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, 120 Wall Street, 19th Floor, New York, 10005 or called in to (800) JDFCURE.

Raymond J. Powell, 49
Raymond J. Powell, 49, of North Plainfield died on Monday, October 16, 2000 at Overlook Hospital in Summit.
Born in Newark, he moved to Garwood in 1954 and then to North Plainfield 16 years ago.
Mr. Powell had been employed as a service manager for the Porcelli GMC Trucking Company in Elizabeth for 20 years before going into self-employed semi-retirement 10 years ago.
Surviving are his wife, Carol Powell; two sons, Raymond Powell of Garwood and Adam Powell of North Plainfield; a daughter, Amanda Powell of North Plainfield; his parents, Claude and Lorraine Powell of Edison; a brother, Garry Powell of Garwood, and five grandchildren.
A Mass was offered yesterday, Wednesday, October 18, at St. Anne’s Roman Catholic Church in Garwood.
Arrangements were handled by the Dooley Colonial Home, 556 Westfield Avenue in Westfield.

Donald H. Bagger, 74
Had Served On Town Council and School Board
Donald H. Bagger of Mountainside, who was active in Westfield civic affairs for more than 50 years, died on Tuesday, October 10, 2000 at home.
Born in Westfield, he had lived in Mountainside for eight years.
Mr. Bagger had worked for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, where he held positions in public affairs, communications and international protocol responsibilities during the course of a 20-year career.
He was also the first Executive Director of the Newark Economic Development Corporation. Early in his career, he had served as Secretary of the Greater Newark Chamber of Commerce and was on the staff of New Jersey Governor Alfred Driscoll.
Mr. Bagger formerly served on the Westfield Town Council and the Westfield Board of Education, as well as the Charter Study Commission that led to the granting of Westfield’s special municipal charter by the State Legislature.
After retiring from the Port Authority, Mr. Bagger was appointed as Mountainside Borough Administrator and later Business Manager of the Wardlaw-Hartridge School in Edison.
In addition, he served as Westfield’s Fire Commissioner, President of the Westfield Local Assistance Board and as a member of the New Jersey Real Estate Commission.
He was also a Director of the Westfield Adult School and of the Westfield College Men’s Club and was a Trustee of the Westfield Community Relations Council.
Mr. Bagger graduated from Harvard University in 1948 and from the Federal Executive Institute in 1971.
He served in the United States Navy during World War II.
He was predeceased by a brother, N. Bruce Bagger.
Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Elizabeth Bagger; a daughter, Paula Bagger of Hingham, Mass.; three sons, Jonathan Bagger of Baltimore, Richard Bagger of Westfield and Matthew Bagger of New York City; a sister, Doris B. Marsh of Marblehead, Mass., and eight grandchildren.
Services will be held at noon on Saturday, October 21, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Westfield.
Arrangements are being handled by the Higgins and Bonner Echo Lake Funeral Home in Westfield.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Donald H. Bagger Memorial Fund of the Westfield Foundation.

William R. Hannon, 73
Navy Veteran Was Former Fanwood Police Officer
William R. Hannon, 73, of Green Brook died on Tuesday, October 10, 2000 at home.
Born in Somerville, he moved to Fanwood many years ago.
Mr. Hannon had been a Fanwood police officer for 26 years before retiring in 1980.
Promoted to Sergeant in 1968, he completed numerous in service training schools and was one of the department’s official photographers.
Previously, he was a tower man with the Central Railroad of New Jersey.
Mr. Hannon served in the United States Navy during World War II and the Korean Conflict.
He was a member of the Fanwood Volunteer Fire Company and the Policeman’s Benevolent Association Local No. 123 in Fanwood.
Surviving are two daughters, Jill Aller and Tracee Hannon; two brothers, Frank Hannon and Vincent Hannon, and three grandchildren.
Services were held on Saturday, October 14, at St. Joseph’s Church in North Plainfield.
Arrangements were handled by the Higgins Home for Funerals in Watchung.
