Frances Adams Messersmith, 78, of Stuart, Fla. died on Thursday, December 23, 1999 at Martin Memorial Medical Center in Stuart.
Born in Long Island City, N.Y., she had lived in Westfield before relocating to Stuart 14 years ago.
She was a homemaker. Mrs. Messersmith was a member of Mariner Sands Golf & Country Club in Stuart.
She was a graduate of Connecticut College for Women.
Surviving are her husband of 36 years, Robert S. Messersmith; three sons, Geoffrey Crane of Olive Branch, Miss., Jonathan Crane of Woodstock, Vt. and James P. Messersmith of Atlanta, Ga.; two daughters, Nancy Kindergan of Phoenix, Ariz. and Deborah Benedetti of Boxford, Mass.; a sister, Dorothy Jagger of Myrtle Beach, S. C. and 13 grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 5, at 1 p.m. at the Mariner Sands Chapel in Stuart, with Pastor Dr. Robert W. Bedingfield officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Young and Prill Funeral Home in Stuart.

Charles J. Pantano, 87
Charles J. Pantano, 87, of Kenilworth died Monday, December 27, 1999 in the Kenilworth home of his daughter, Liboria L. DePalma.
Born in Newark, he lived in of Mountainside before moving to Kenilworth a year ago.
Mr. Pantano worked as a master mechanic for Operating Engineers Union Local No. 825 in Little Falls for 50 years, retiring 15 years ago.
Also surviving are three other daughters, Josephine Anastasio, Lisetta DelGuercio and Maria Bourlotos-Pantano; nine grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be held today, Thursday, December 30, at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Mountainside.
Arrangements are being handled by the Galante Funeral Home in Union.
C. Raymond Clark, 73
C. Raymond Clark, 73, of Scotch Plains died Monday, December 27, 1999 in Overlook Hospital in Summit.
Born in Mountainside, he moved to Scotch Plains in 1939.
He was a United States Navy veteran of World War II.
Mr. Clark worked for the F&E Trucking Company in Scotch Plains for 15 years before retiring in 1991.
Prior to that he had been one of the owners of the Clark Brothers Excavating Company in Scotch Plains.
He was a member of the Scotch Plains American Legion Post No. 209, and the senior citizens basketball, bowling and baseball recreation leagues, all of Scotch Plains.
Surviving are a son, Stephen R. Clark; a brother, Eugene Clark; a sister, Veronica Herrick, and three grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be held today, Thursday, December 30, at 10 a.m. in St. Bartholomew the Apostle Church in Scotch Plains.
Arrangements are being handled by the Rossi Funeral Home in Scotch Plains.
Harold J. Edmon, 90
Harold J. Edmon, 90 of Southampton died on Friday, December 24, 1999 at Genesis Eldercare in Voorhees.
Born in Lebanon, Ohio, he had lived in Westfield before relocating to Leisuretown in Southampton 20 years ago.
Mr. Edmon had been a salesman for the Albert Verley Company in Linden before retiring in 1979.
He was a 1931 graduate of Purdue University in Lafayette, Ind.
He was a 50-year member of Shepard Salem Lodge No. 78, Free and Accepted Masons of Naugatuck, Conn.
Mr. Edmon was also a member of the Square Club in Leisuretown.
Surviving are his wife, Roberta F. Adams Edmon; a daughter, Christine L. Zucker of Englewood; three sons, Edward R. Edmon of Ecuador, Harold Edmon, Jr. of Seattle, Wash. and Thomas A. Edmon of New Hampton, N.Y., and nine grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 28, at the Lechner Funeral Home in Medford.
Interment took place Town in Odd Fellows Cemetery, also in Medford.

Dr. Martha Maurer, 82
Practiced Locally; Was Volunteer for Planned Parenthood
Dr. Martha E. Maurer (Mrs. Paul H. Kandra), 82, of Scotch Plains died on Friday, February 5, 1999 at home.
Born in Newark, she had lived in Westfield for 25 years before moving to Scotch Plains in 1969.
She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from the University of Pennsylvania in 1938.
Dr. Maurer graduated from Temple Medical School in 1942, and served her internship at St. Barnabas Hospital in Newark from 1942 to 1943.
She subsequently maintained a general medical practice in Westfield from 1943 to 1969.
From 1969 until her retirement in 1988, she had been employed by the Prudential Insurance Company in Newark.
Dr. Maurer was also on the staff of Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center in Plainfield from 1943 to 1952.
She was a member of the American Medical Association, and also served as a volunteer for Planned Parenthood from 1958 to 1962.
She was predeceased by her husband, Dr. Paul H. Kandra, in 1995.
Surviving are two daughters, Karen A. Bodenhorn of Sacramento, California and Paulette L. Frisbie of Colchester, Vermont, and four grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Monday, February 8, at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Westfield.
Interment followed at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield.
Funeral arrangements were handled by the Gray Funeral Home, 318 East Broad Street in Westfield.

Anthony J. Grimaldi, 84
Was Executive For Plastics Manufacturer In Cranford
Anthony J. Grimaldi, 84, of Scotch Plains died on Thursday, February 4, 1999 at Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center in Plainfield.
Born in Brooklyn, he had moved to Scotch Plains in 1953.
Mr. Grimaldi was president-chairman of the board for Gibson Associates, a plastics manufacturer in Cranford, for 25 years before retiring in 1978.
Previously, he had worked at Armstrong Cork Company in New York.
He was a member of the Catholic Golden Age of Scotch Plains and was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, Father Nelligan Council No. 1711 of Westfield.
Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Laura Serrapica Grimaldi; two daughters, Margaret F. Christman and Antonia R. DeJonge; a son, Matthew S. Grimaldi; two brothers, Frank A. Grimaldi and Joseph A. Grimaldi; two sisters, Laura Beneduce and Sara Grimaldi; eight grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
A Mass was held on Monday, February 8, at St. Bartholomew the Apostle Roman Catholic Church in Scotch Plains.
Arrangements were handled by the Rossi Funeral Home in Scotch Plains.
Odette Ulrich, 91
Cafeteria Manager For Scotch Plains Board of Education
Odette H. Ulrich, 91, of New Brunswick died on Friday, February 5, 1999 in the Parker Nursing Home in New Brunswick.
Born in Mandeure, France, she had lived in Scotch Plains and Rossmoor, Monroe Township, before moving to New Brunswick in 1995.
Mrs. Ulrich was a cafeteria manager for the Scotch Plains Board of Education for 23 years.
She had graduated from Douglass College, Rutgers University.
She was predeceased by her husband, Melvin C. Ulrich, in 1995.
Surviving are a daughter, Carole Ouimet of Bridgewater; a sister, Lea Gogniat; two grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.
A Funeral Mass was held on Monday, February 8, at St. James Church in Jamesburg.
Funeral arrangements were handled by the A.S. Cole Funeral Home in Cranbury.
E. Blanche McMoran, 79
Was Employed At Local Bamberger’s Department Store
E. Blanche McMoran, 79, of Fanwood died on Sunday, February 7, 1999 in the John F. Kennedy Medical Center in Edison.
Born in Whitpain, Pennsylvania, she had lived in Norristown, Pennsylvania before moving to Fanwood in 1953.
Mrs. McMoran worked in the sales department at the Bamberger’s Department Store in Plainfield before retiring.
She was a member of the Monday Afternoon Club in Plainfield and the Grace Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Westfield.
She was predeceased by her husband, George M. McMoran, in 1987.
Surviving are her son, John McMoran of Fanwood; two daughters, Jean McMoran of Dunellen and Joan Ayala of Fanwood; a brother, Harry S. Treisbach of Breingsville, Pennsylvania; a sister, Ella Anderson of Eaglesville, Pennsylvania, and four grandchildren.
Arrangements were handled by the Memorial Funeral Home, 155 South Avenue, Fanwood.
Interment was held at the George Washington Memorial Park in Whitemarsh, Pennsylvania.
