Regina M. Cramer, 74, of Bridgewater died on Saturday, February 6, 1999 at Harborside Healthcare in Bridgewater.
Born in Brooklyn, she had lived in Bogota and Scotch Plains before moving to Bridgewater in 1954.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Somerville.
Mrs. Cramer was a World War II veteran, serving as a corporal in the Marine Corps.
Surviving are her husband, Henry Cramer; four sons, Stephen Cramer of Harrison, Idaho, Paul Cramer of Bridgewater, Mark Cramer of Frenchtown, and Peter Cramer of Browns Mills; two daughters, Denise Guggenheim of Ojal, California and Mary Hamerstone of Bloomsbury; a sister, Jeanette Mills of Lakehurst, and 12 grandchildren.
A Funeral Service was held yesterday, Wednesday, February 10, at Immaculate Conception Church in Somerville.
Funeral arrangements were handled by the Cusick Funeral Home in Somerville.
Rose Turtletaub, 91
Was Entrepreneur; Kindergarten Teacher in Perth Amboy
Rose Turtletaub, 91, of Scotch Plains died on Sunday, February 7, 1999 in the Raritan Bay Medical Center in Perth Amboy.
Born in Perth Amboy, she moved to Scotch Plains one year ago.
A graduate of the Newark Normal School, Mrs. Turtletaub had been a kindergarten teacher for the Perth Amboy school system at School No. 8 for several years. She had also owned several businesses in Perth Amboy with her late husband, Max Turtletaub, who died in 1975.
She was a member of the Perth Amboy Chapter of Hadassah and of the Young Men’s and Young Women’s Hebrew Association Senior Citizens of Perth Amboy.
Surviving are a son, Edward M. Turtletaub; a brother, Cecil Berman; a sister, Ida Whitman; three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, February 9, in the Flynn and Son Funeral Home in Perth Amboy.
Interment took place at Beth Israel Memorial Park in Woodbridge.
Metaxia Markos
Metaxia Markos of Mountainside died on Wednesday, February 3, 1999 in Guam.
Born in Sparta, Greece, she had lived in Newark for 30 years before moving to Mountainside 30 years ago.
Mrs. Markos was a member of the Philoptochos and Trinity Circle of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, the Women’s Club of Mountainside and the Foothille Club.
Surviving are two sons, Sam Markos of Guam and Tom Markos; two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Monday, February 8, in the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Westfield.
Funeral arrangements were handled by the Union Funeral Home - Lytwyn & Lytwyn in Union.
Francis G. Patey, 73
Was Navy Veteran; Assembly Worker With American Can Co.
Francis G. Patey, 73, of Highlands died on Sunday, February 7, 1999 at home.
Born in Jersey City, he had lived in Piscataway from 1961 to 1998, when he relocated to the Highlands.
Mr. Patey had been an assembly worker for 25 years at American Can Company in Jersey City.
He was a United States Navy veteran of World War II, and was assigned to the USS Pittsburgh.
He was predeceased by his wife, Mary Patey, in 1974.
Surviving are a son, Daniel Patey of South Plainfield; a daughter, Laura Manney of Piscataway, and a brother, John Patey of Scotch Plains.
Funeral services were held yesterday, Wednesday, February 10, at the Piscataway Funeral Home.
Walter F. Hannon, 86
Restaurateur; Owned Several New Jersey Establishments
Walter F. Hannon, 86, of Scotch Plains died on Monday, February 8, 1999 at home.
Born in Jersey City, he had lived in Rutherford before moving to Scotch Plains 40 years ago.
Mr. Hannon had owned and operated several restaurants throughout New Jersey for many years before retiring.
Surviving are his son, Robert Hannon; two daughters, Kathleen Bonner and Diane Frank; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A Mass will offered today, Thursday, February 11, at 10 a.m. at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church in Scotch Plains, following funeral services from the Higgins and Bonner Echo Lake Funeral Home in Westfield.
Herbert W. Andrews, 87
Army Veteran; Active In Westfield Community Players
Herbert W. Andrews, 87, of Westfield died on Saturday, February 6, 1999 at the Glenside Nursing Home in New Providence.
Born in Rhode Island, he had lived in Westfield since 1934.
Mr. Andrews had been employed by Colgate Palmolive in Jersey City for 38 years before retiring in 1976.
He was awarded a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1934.
He was a United States Army veteran of World War II, rising to the rank of Major.
Mr. Andrews was a member of the Westfield Community Players. He was predeceased by his wife, Blanche Andrews, in 1981.
Surviving are a son, Stephen Andrews; a daughter, Carolyn Patterson, a granddaughter, and two great-granddaughters.
Interment was private. A memorial service will be held tomorrow, Friday, February 12, at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of The Presbyterian Church in Westfield.
Arrangements were handled by the Gray Funeral Home, 318 East Broad Street in Westfield.
Duncan Currie, 95
Was Bank Executive; Owned Insurance Agency in Elizabeth
Duncan R. Currie, 95, of Jamesburg died on Sunday, February 7, 1999 at Princeton Medical Center in Princeton.
Born in Elizabeth, was an athlete at Battin High School there. He had lived in Mountainside for 30 years and in Jamesburg for 15 years.
Mr. Currie had been the owner of an insurance agency, the Duncan R. Currie Agency, in Elizabeth for many years before retiring in 1969.
He also was the Director of the Roselle Savings Bank in Roselle.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Alice French Currie, in 1971, and by his second wife, Mary Nagel Currie, in 1996.
Surviving are a brother, Donald Currie of Boynton Beach, Florida, and a sister, Elizabeth Reuter of Linden.
A funeral service was held yesterday, Wednesday, February 10, at the Dooley Colonial Home, 556 Westfield Avenue in Westfield.
Interment took place at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield.
Memorial donations may be made to the Jamesburg Rescue Squad.
Virginia A. Toddie, 47
Physical Therapist; Member of Championship Baseball Team
Virginia Anne Toddie, 47, of Bellingham, Massachusetts died on Friday, February 5, 1999 in MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham, Massachusetts.
Born on July 19, 1951 in New York City, the daughter of William and Jean Lenox Toddie, she was raised in Westfield and moved to Bellingham in 1978.
Ms. Toddie was employed for 10 years as a physical therapist for Morton Hospital in Taunton, Massachusetts.
She received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania in 1973, and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Therapy from New York University in New York City in 1977.
She was a baseball scorekeeper and an official member of the Bellingham TriValley Championship team during the summer of 1998.
Surviving are her husband, Bob Pfeifer, whom she married on September 6, 1975; two sons, Daniel Toddie Pfeifer and Stephen Toddie Pfeifer; her mother, Jean Lenox Toddie of New Hope, Pennsylvania, and her sister, Barbara Geraghty of West Chester, Pennsylvania.
Funeral services were held yesterday, Wednesday, February 10, in the Buma-Sargeant Funeral Home in Milford, Massachusetts.
Interment will take place on Saturday, February 13, in the Cemetery of the Solebury Friends (Quaker) in New Hope, Pennsylvania.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a fund set to be established.
