Richard W. Palmer

Mr. Palmer, 76, of the Laurence Harbor section of Old Bridge died Sept. 16 in JFK Medical Center, Edison. Surviving are his wife, Louise "Pat" Holden Palmer; two sons, Richard J. Palmer of Fair Haven and Rande H. Palmer of Long Branch; a daugh­ter, Robin Colatrella of Laurence Harbor; and six grandchildren. Services were held at Gundrum Service Home for Funerals, South Amboy. Cremation was private. Memorial contributions may be made to the Monmouth Council of Boy Scouts of America, P.O. Box 188, Oakhurst, NJ 07755.

Joseph B. Habig

Mr. Habig, 79, of Tinton Falls died Sept. 21 in Middletown of Parkinson’s disease. Born in New York City, he lived in Holmdel for nine years prior to moving to Tinton Falls. Mr. Habig was executive producer in the music division at Reader’s Digest for 16 years, retiring in 1989. Prior to that, he was an artists’ and repertoire producer at RCA Victor Red Seal for 19 years. He also worked 10 years as a trombonist with several symphony orchestras. A Grammy Award winner for producing Stravinsky’s "Symphony of Psalms, " he also worked with performers such as Duke Ellington, Sergio Franchi, Van Cliburn, Marian Anderson and Benny Goodman. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Virginia Harlow Habig. The John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown, was in charge of arrangements.

Diana Dechicchio Ainsworth

Mrs. Ainsworth, 90, of Red Bank died Sept. 18 at Gateway Care Center, Eatontown. Born in Newark, she was a lifelong resident of Red Bank. Mrs. Ainsworth was a homemaker. She attended St. James Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. She was predeceased by a daughter, Gloria Fera, in 1999; and three brothers, Michael Dechicchio, Albert Dechicchio and Louis Dechicchio Jr. She is survived by a daughter, Suzanne Ferreri of Red Bank; four sisters, Emma Adcock of Red Bank, Frieda Simmone and Susie Shibuya, both of Florida, and Theresa Martin of Ocean; and one grandson. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. James Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. Interment was at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown. John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank, was in charge of arrangements.

Ermine J. "Minnie" Cannizzaro Johnson

Mrs. Johnson, 83, of Holmdel died Nov. 24 at home. Born in Keyport, she resided there prior to moving to Holmdel two years ago. She was a manager at Westrieches, Keyport, where she was employed for 42 years before her retirement. She was a member of the Bayshore Auxiliary, Keyport. She is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Barbara and Foley Wadington of Holmdel, and Patricia Magarino of Sparta; three sisters, Frances Frame of Red Bank, Ann Lanzaro of Holmdel, and Lillian VanDerwiel of Middletown; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Dec. 5 from 2-4 p.m. at Day Funeral Home, Keyport. A memorial service will be held Dec. 5 at 3 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to VNA of Central Jersey, Attn.: Development Office, 141 Bodman Place, Red Bank 07701-9978.

Theodore C. Sari

Mr. Sari, 87, of Tinton Falls died Oct. 27 at Seabrook Village, Tinton Falls. Born in West Orange, he resided in Howell Township for more than 25 years before moving to Tinton Falls two years ago. He was a warehouse manager at Marine Drive Systems, Edison, retiring 25 years ago. Prior to that, he operated Sari’s Main Street Cleaners, East Orange, for 26 years. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Freehold. He was past president of the Freehold Kiwanis Club, and member of the Deborah Hospital Auxiliary and Local No. 151 American Federation of Musicians. He enjoyed bowling and playing the saxophone and clarinet. He is survived by his wife, Eleanor Finn Sari of Tinton Falls; two daughters, Carol Andrews of Middletown, and Gail Kennedy of Mifflintown, Pa.; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A memorial service was at Seabrook town square auditorium, Tinton Falls. Arrangements were by Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold. Memorial donations may be made to Outreach Red Bank Ministries Inc., P.O. Box 809, Red Bank 07701.

Helen Sheppard

Mrs. Sheppard, 88, of Red Bank died Nov. 28 at Arnold Walter Nursing Home, Holmdel. Born in Perth Amboy, she resided there before moving to Red Bank. She was employed at Jacobson, Goldfaub and Tanzman, Perth Amboy, before her retirement. Prior to that, she worked for the U.S. government at Raritan Arsenal for 20 years. She is survived by her husband, Sylvester T. Sheppard; seven stepdaughters; one stepson; and 19 grandchildren. Burial was at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown. The John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown, was in charge of arrangements.

Evelyn P. Luker

Mrs. Luker, 96, of Onancock, Va., died Nov. 27 at home. She was born in the Belford section of Middletown. She was a teacher at Belford Elementary School and Leonardo Elementary School, Leonardo section of Middletown, for several years. She was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church, Belford. Mrs. Luker was predeceased by her husband, James Luker; a son, James Luker Jr.; a daughter, Ethel Becker; and four sisters, Jenny Snyder, Lydia Post, Alma Daley and Doris Hansen. She is survived by a son, David P. Luker of Onancock, Va.; a brother, John Post of Shrewsbury; seven granddaughters; and eight great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Dec. 5 at 10 a.m. at John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank.

Frank J. Monprode

Mr. Monprode, 82, of Red Bank died Nov. 25 at home. Born in Jersey City, he resided in Monmouth County the past 50 years. He was the retired co-owner of M&S Vending Co., Newark, for 20 years. He also was a stagehand at Garden State Arts Center, Holmdel, for 17 years. He served with the U.S. Air Corps during World War II, and the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a communicant of Church of the Nativity, Fair Haven. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 2858, Keansburg. An avid swimmer, he was state champion and record holder in the backstroke, was on all-American teams in both high school and preparatory school, and coached high school swimming. He was predeceased by a son, Frank Monprode Jr., in 1996. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ruth Ennis Monprode; two sons and daughters-in-law, James and Susan Monprode of Rumson, and Mark and Susan Monprode of Middletown; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Diane and Terry McKeon of Middletown, Mary and Ernie VanPelt, and Ellen Monprode Arnold, all of Red Bank; a sister, Evelyn Cassels of Florida; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at Church of the Nativity. Arrangements were by John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank. Interment was at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 801 Broad St., Shrewsbury 07702.

Harold "Hal" Naclerio Jr.

Mr. Naclerio, 47, of Fair Haven died Nov. 30 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank, following a lengthy battle with cancer. He was the owner and proprietor of Hal’s Pool Service, Fair Haven. He was a communicant of St. Leo the Great Roman Catholic Church, Lincroft section of Middletown. He was predeceased by his father, Harold Naclerio Sr. Mr. Naclerio is survived by his wife of 23 years, Lynette Moore Naclerio; a son, Harold "Jeff" Naclerio III; his mother, Eileen Behrens Naclerio; three sisters, Nancie Dunn, Judy Kephart and Carol Long; and a brother, Tom Naclerio. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Leo the Great Roman Catholic Church, Middletown. Interment was at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown. The John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank, was in charge of arrangements.

Alfred M. Mirro

Mr. Mirro, 81, of Hazlet died Dec. 16 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Kearny, he resided in Union Beach prior to moving to Hazlet 57 years ago. He was a self-employed contractor with Local Union No. 2250, Red Bank, for several years, retiring in 1987. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a communicant of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Union Beach. He was a member of Local Carpenters Union No. 2250. Mr. Mirro was predeceased by his first wife, Margarite V. Mirro, in 1971; and two brothers, Frank Mirro in 2003 and Jack Mirro in 2000. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Mary Borelli-Benenati Mirro; two sons and daughters-in-law, Frank and Lee Mirro of Freehold, and Thomas and Susan Mirro of Millstone; a daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Dennis Morgan of Ocean; a sister, Alice Brown of Tucson; a brother, Robert Mirro of Colts Neck; a stepson and his wife, Anthony and Michelle Schiatone of Long Branch; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Visitation will be Dec. 19 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. A funeral service will be held Dec. 20 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by burial at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.

Edward J. Murphy

Mr. Murphy, 89, of Rumson died Nov. 28 in Tinton Falls. Born in Newark, he resided in Rumson the past 40 years. He co-owned with his brothers Murphy Brothers Motors, Elizabeth, for more than 30 years. Prior to that, he owned The Peninsula House, Sea Bright, for more than 20 years. He was a communicant of Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church, Rumson. Mr. Murphy was predeceased by his first wife, Florence Tack Murphy, and a brother, James Murphy. He is survived by his wife, Grace Newman Murphy; three daughters and sons-in-law, Geraldine and John O’Rourke of Tampa, Karen and Claude Gonzalvez of Wheaton, Md., and Barbara and Donald McCausland of Rumson; a brother, William Murphy of Lewisburg, Pa.; a sister, Margaret Spies of Ponte Verde, Fla.; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at Holy Cross Church, followed by interment at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown. Arrangements were by John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank. Memorial donations may be made to Vitas Hospice Care, 1 Meridian Road, Suite 5, Eatontown 07724.

Anthony Furiato

Mr. Furiato, 83, of Middletown died Oct. 13 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Middletown, he was a lifelong Middletown resident. Mr. Furiato was a crossing guard in Middletown for the past 10 years. Prior to that, he was a shipping foreman at Bendix Corp., Eatontown, for 35 years, retiring in 1985, and a landscaper and gardener until the 1950s. He was a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the Italian American Club, Middletown, and the Bendix Retirement Club. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Patricia Sacco Furiato; two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Lynn Furiato of Shrewsbury, and Ronald and Katherine Furiato of Middletown; a daughter, Patricia Marcelli of Middletown; five grandchildren; and one great-grandson. Visitation will be Oct. 17 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. A funeral gathering will take place Oct. 18 at 6:45 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a funeral liturgy at 8 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Church, Red Bank. Burial will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.
