Helen Memoli, 94, of Scotch Plains died on Monday, November 23, 1998 in the Ashbrook Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Scotch Plains.
Born in Avelino, Italy, she moved to Scotch Plains three years ago.
Surviving are a daughter, Ann Pedicine; a son, Michael Memoli; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass was to be offered on Wednesday, November 25, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Anthony’s Church in Belleville.
Funeral arrangements were handled by the Zarro Funeral Home in Bloomfield.
Edward Eggleston, 69
Edward L. Eggleston, 69, of Pittstown died on Sunday, November 22, 1998 at Easton Hospital in Easton, Pennsylvania.
Born in Illinois, he had lived in Westfield and in Pittstown for the past 34 years.
Mr. Eggleston had been a technical specialist at IBM in Cranford for 30 years before retiring.
He served on the Franklin Township Environmental Commission, the Recycling Commission and the Cable Television Committee.
Mr. Eggleston was also active with Boy Scout Troop No. 119 in Union Township for the past 26 years.
He was a Sergeant in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
He was predeceased by his wife, Jean A. Tussel Eggleston.
Surviving are two sons, Matthew Eggleston of Lebanon Township and Brian Eggleston of Kingwood; two daughters, Renee Donatella and Nadine Hinrichsen, both of Scotch Plains; a sister, Barbara Moore of Westfield, and seven grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements were handled by the Martin Funeral Home in Clinton.

Alexis Williams, Infant
Alexis Taylor Williams, 4 months old, of Scotch Plains died on Friday, November 20, 1998 at home.
Surviving are her parents, Kevin and Tabitha Millette Williams; a sister, Nicole Williams; her grandparents, Mary Millette of Oakville, Connecticut and Joseph Millette of Boynton Beach, Florida, and Keith and Barbara Williams of Summerland, Florida, and her great-grandparents, Ken and Alice Williams of Sarasota, Florida and Moise and Daisy Millette of Morris, Connecticut.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, November 24, at the First Baptist Church of Westfield.
Interment took place at Fairview Cemetery, also in Westfield.
Arrangements were handled by the Dooley Colonial Home, 556 Westfield Avenue in Westfield.

Joseph S. Macaluso, 88
Joseph S. Macaluso, 88, of Naples, Florida died on Wednesday, November 18, 1998 in Naples.
Born in Italy, he had lived in New York City and in Westfield before moving to Florida.
Mr. Macaluso had been the owner of the New York Carting Company, one of the largest trucking and demolition companies in New York, before his retirement.
He was a fundraiser with the Urgent Care Center and a member of the Founders Board and Planning Committee, both in Naples.
Mr. Macaluso was a contributor and fundraiser at the San Marco Catholic Church, a founding member of the Knights of Columbus, Marco chapter, and a charter member of the Island Country Club, all in the Naples area.
Surviving are his wife, Anita Macaluso; two sons, Charles Macaluso and Robert Macaluso; two daughters, Maria McDonald and Josephine Macaluso; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass was to be offered on Wednesday, November 25, at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Church in Demarest.

Donald McLaughlin, 73
Donald F. McLaughlin, 73, of Point Pleasant died on Sunday, November 22, 1998 at home.
Born in Chicago, he had lived in Westfield before moving to Point Pleasant in 1985.
Mr. McLaughlin had worked for the Crum & Forster Insurance Company in Morristown for 25 years before retiring as a senior executive in 1985.
He served in the Navy during World War II, and was a 1951 graduate of Fordham University in New York City.
He was a member of the Plainfield Country Club and the Manasquan Elks Lodge.
Surviving are a son, Donald F. McLaughlin, Jr., and a daughter, Barbara McLaughlin.
A Funeral Mass will be offered on Saturday, November 28, at 9 a.m. in St. Martha’s Church in Point Pleasant.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Van Hise & Callagan, Leber Funeral Home in Point Pleasant Beach.
Robert Mitchell
Was Instrument Engineer On Manhattan Project and Atomic Bomb
Robert E. Mitchell, 81, of Scotch Plains died on Sunday, November 22, 1998 in Overlook Hospital in Summit.
Born in Herculaneum, Missouri, he lived in Scotch Plains for 44 years.
Mr. Mitchell attended Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. He had been an instrument engineer on the Manhattan Project, the development of the atomic bomb, in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
Mr. Mitchell had been associated with the Monsanto Chemical Company of St. Louis; the Blaunox Chemical Company of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; the Scientific Design and Chemical Construction Corporation of New York City; C. F. Braun of Murray Hill, and Jacobs Engineering in Springfield. He retired in 1987.
Mr. Mitchell was a 32nd Degree Mason.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Sanders Mitchell; two daughters, Sandra Crandall of Liberty, New York, and Barbara Childress of Jacksonville, Florida, and a grandson.
Private services were being arranged by the Memorial Funeral Home, 155 South Avenue in Fanwood.

Reverend Robert R. Tyson, Jr., 68
Minister at Area Baptist Churches
The Reverend Robert R. Tyson, Jr. 68, of Westfield died on Tuesday, July 27, 1999 at home.
Born in Sarasota, Fl., he lived in Roselle before moving to Westfield 30 years ago.
The Reverend Tyson was a member of the ministerial staff of the Miracle Missionary Baptist Church of Christ in Plainfield.
He also served on ministerial staffs of Second Baptist Churches in Roselle and The White Rock Baptist Church in Linden.
Prior to his ministry, he was an executive chauffeur for the Worthington Pump Co. in Harrison for eight years.
He also owned and operated the R&C Taxi Company in Westfield for eight years.
He was a member of the Acacia Lodge No. 23 Free and Accepted Masons, Prince Hall Affiliation in Roselle, serving as its chaplain.
He was the Worthy Patron of the Star of Bethlehem Chapter No. 26 in Roselle, Order of the Eastern Star.
He had attended the Newark Bible College, where he became a licensed minister.
Surviving are his wife, Carrie Tyson; two sons, Robert Wallace Gladden of San Antonio, Tex. and Robert Tyson, 3rd at Drexel University in Philadelphia; two sisters, Frances Tyson of Brunswick, Ga. and Flossie Tyson of Sarasota; two brothers, Ulysses Tyson and David Tyson, both of Sarasota and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 31, at Miracle Missionary Baptist Church of Christ in Plainfield.
Interment was held at Rosehill Cemetery in Linden.
Arrangements were handled by G.G. Woody Funeral Home in Roselle.
Blanche Bennett, 77
Blanche Bennett, 77, of Scotch Plains died on Sunday, August 1, 1999 in the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick.
Born in Harrison, she lived in Kearny before moving to Scotch Plains in 1983.
Surviving are a son, Gordon Bennett; a daughter, Joanne Bennett and four grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass was held on Wednesday, August 4, in St. Bartholomew the Apostle Roman Catholic Church in Scotch Plains.
Arrangements were handled by the Rossi Funeral Home in Scotch Plains.
