Elvira R. Robilotto, 91, a lifelong resident of New York City, died on Tuesday, September 19, 2000 in the home of her daughter, Joan Gibson of Mountainside.
Mrs. Robilotto is also survived by a sister, Angela Vaneria; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A Mass will be offered at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow, Friday, September 22, in St. Joseph’s Shrine in Stirling, following the funeral from the Brough Funeral Home in Summit.
Ruth Charlock, 101
Ruth Charlock, 101, of Roselle Park died on Monday, September 18, 2000 in the Cornell Hall Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Union.
Born in Bayonne, she had lived in Westfield, Pennington and Roselle before moving to Roselle Park.
Mrs. Charlock was a member of the Women’s Society of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church and the CLIO Club, both of Roselle. She was also a volunteer at the Veterans Memorial Library in Roselle Park.
Surviving are three daughters, Millicent Elwell, Jean Savage and Janet Schmitt; a son, William Charlock; 12 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. today, Thursday, September 21, in the J. C. Prall Funeral Home in Roselle.
Joseph Sbordone, 80
Deputy Warden; Served in Coast Guard in World War II
Joseph J. Sbordone, 80, of Clearwater, Fla., died on Monday, September 18, 2000 in the Sabal Palms Health Care Center in Largo, Fla.
Born in Westfield, he had lived in Clark before relocating to Clearwater 14 years ago.
Mr. Sbordone had worked at the Union County Jail in Elizabeth for many years before retiring as Deputy Warden 26 years ago.
He was a member of the Union County Corrections Officers’ Police Benevolent Association Local No. 199.
He served in the United States Coast Guard during World War II.
Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Gertrude Sbordone; a son, George Sbordone; three sisters, Helen Venezio, Ernestine Lanza and Edith Thomas, and two grandchildren.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. tomorrow, Friday, September 22, in the Walter J. Johnson Funeral Home in Clark.
Florence Jennings, 91
Florence Mills Jennings, 91, of Hackettstown died on Tuesday, September 19, 2000 in Hackettstown Hospital.
Born in Westfield, she had lived in Springfield and South Orange before moving to Hackettstown seven years ago.
A 1931 graduate of Skidmore College in Sarasota Springs, N.Y., Mrs. Jennings was a President of the Alumni of Skidmore College and the St. Rose of Lima Ladies Auxiliary.
She was also a member of the Hospital Center of Orange Auxiliary and founder of the Community Toy Bureau in Orange.
Surviving are three daughters, Elizabeth J. Roofeh, Anne J. Feeley and Jane M. Jennings; a son, Robert E. Jennings, Jr., and six grandchildren.
A Mass was offered on Saturday, September 23, in St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church in Short Hills, following the funeral from the Jacob A. Holle Funeral Home in Maplewood.
Henry H. Finney, 82
Nynex Retiree; Had Attended Columbia University
Henry H. Finney, 82, of Fanwood died on Wednesday, September 20, 2000 in the Maryann Hale Pavilion at John F. Kennedy Medical Center in Edison.
Born in Chicago, he had lived in New York City before moving to Fanwood 26 years ago.
Mr. Finney had worked for Nynex/ Bell Atlantic in New York City for more than 20 years before retiring in 1993.
He attended Columbia University and Georgia Institute of Technology.
Mr. Finney was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America of Nynex.
Surviving are his wife, Victoria Finney, and a son, Harrison Finney.
Memorial services were held on Saturday, September 23, in All Saints’ Episcopal Church in Scotch Plains.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Memorial Funeral Home, 155 South Avenue in Fanwood.
Gertrude Klok, 83
Gertrude Klara Hoeckele Klok, 83, a former resident of Scotch Plains, died on Saturday, August 12, 2000 in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.
Born in Pforzheim, Germany, she came to the United States in 1926.
She had lived in Scotch Plains for more than 30 years before relocating to California in 1995. She moved to Mexico in 1996.
She was predeceased by her husband, Walter Klok.
Surviving are two daughters, Trudy Lemer of San Francisco and Louise Klok of Silver Spring, Md.; a sister, Margaret Saul of Plainview, N.Y., and two grandsons.
A service was held in Mexico and a memorial service will be held next month in Silver Spring.
Ola McBride, 101
Had Volunteered With Army Interceptor Command
Ola Smith McBride of Basking Ridge, who turned 101 on August 15, died on Tuesday, September 19, 2000 at the Bethesda Health Care Center of Fellowship Village in Basking Ridge.
Born in Rockdale, Tex., she had lived in Brooklyn before moving to Westfield in 1976.
She relocated to the Bethesda Health Care Center in 1996.
Mrs. McBride had worked in the Bond Department of the Greater New York Savings Bank.
During World War II, she served as a volunteer for the United States Army First Interceptor Command.
After moving to Westfield, Mrs. McBride became an active member of The Presbyterian Church in Westfield, serving as a Circle Leader for many years.
She was also active in the Union Church of Bay Ridge.
She was predeceased by her husband, Douglas McBride, in 1984, and by a son, Douglas McBride, Jr., in 1992.
Surviving are a son, Clyde McBride of Mantoloking and Naples, Fla.; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
A private interment service was held on Friday, September 22, at Greenwood Cemetery in Brooklyn.
A memorial service took place on Thursday, September 21, at Fellowship Village.
Another memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 6, in the Chapel of The Presbyterian Church in Westfield.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Gallaway and Crane Funeral Home in Basking Ridge.

William Schnarr, 68
Past Master Of Azure Lodge No. 129 of F&AM
William Schnarr, 68, of Winfield Park died on Thursday, September 21, 2000 in the Westfield Center, Genesis ElderCare Network in Westfield.
Born in Hillside, he lived in Winfield Park since 1942.
Mr. Schnarr had been a sheet metal worker with Union Local No. 22 in Cranford for many years before retiring five years ago.
He was a Past Master of Azure Lodge No. 129 Free and Accepted Masons in Cranford and a Past Royal Patron of the Cranford Court 34 Order of Amarameth.
He was a member of the Tall Cedar Forest 6 in Elizabeth, the Scottish Rite, the High Twelve Club in Union, the 117th Calvary Association in Westfield and the American Association of Retired Persons, Chapter 4268, in Cranford.
Mr. Schnarr also was a member of the Royal Arch Mason Corinthian Chapter 57 in Westfield.
He served in the National Guard in Westfield for 21 years.
Surviving are his wife, Eileen Schnarr, and a sister, Margaret Luck.
Services were held on Saturday, September 23, in the Dooley Funeral Home, 218 West North Avenue in Cranford.
