Elizabeth Bohannon, 64
Elizabeth Ann Bohannon, 64, a lifelong Westfield resident, died on Sunday, September 24, 2000 at Overlook Hospital in Summit.
Miss Bohannon had worked as a computer scientist at Bell Laboratories in Parsippany for 36 years, retiring in 1993.
She was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Westfield.
She graduated from Westfield High School and from Douglass College, where she majored in mathematics.
Surviving is a brother, Dr. Richard A. Bohannon.
Services were held yesterday, Wednesday, September 27, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Gray Funeral Home, 318 East Broad Street in Westfield.

Lily Smart Thomsen, 88
Former Nurse; Active With Local Church and Groups
Lily Hindley Smart Thomsen, 88, of Essex, Conn., died on Tuesday, September 19, 2000 at the Essex Meadows Health Center there.
Born in Erie, Pa. on June 5, 1912, she was the daughter of William and Ellen Hindley.
She had lived in Westfield, Cape Cod and Center Sandwich, N.H., before retiring to Essex Meadows, Conn.
She transferred to the Essex Meadows Health Center in 1997.
She attended Academy High School in Erie and received a full music scholarship to a local university, where she played the flute, piccolo and piano.
She transferred to the University of Michigan in 1930, graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy in 1937.
Mrs. Thomsen had worked as a nurse after college.
She was active in St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, the College Club of Westfield and the Women’s Auxiliary of the American Institute of Mining, Metallurgical and Petroleum Engineers, particularly while her first husband, John Stuart Smart, Jr., was President in 1961.
Mrs. Thomsen, who spent summers in Spray Beach, was also active in the Spray Beach Yacht Club.
She was predeceased by her first husband in 1969 and by her second husband, Ferris Thomsen, in 1994.
Surviving are three children, Dr. John Stuart Smart, 3rd, of Houston, Tex., William F. Smart of Bowie, Md. and Susan Smart Harrison of Darien, Conn.; two stepsons, Ferris Thomsen, Jr. of Holderness, N. H. and Leonard S. Thomsen of Portsmouth, N. H., and seven grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. this Sunday, October 1, at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Darien.
Interment will take place at Druid Ridge Cemetery in Baltimore.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Deerwood Foundation, a scholarship fund for campers, care of Camp Deerwood, Holderness, N. H., 03245.
Gertrude Yenzer, 92
Had Been Nurse At Holy Trinity School During 1940s
Gertrude Catherine Yenzer, 92, of Westfield died on Friday, September 22, 2000 at home.
Born in Brooklyn, she lived in Westfield for the last 55 years.
Mrs. Yenzer had been a nurse many years ago at St. Catherine’s Hospital in Brooklyn and then at the Holy Trinity School in Westfield during the 1940s.
She was a member of the Rosary Society of the Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church in Westfield.
Surviving are her husband, George Yenzer; three daughters, Mary LaPoint of Howell, Dorothy Vecchione of Westport, Conn. and Kathleen Rauch of Westfield; a brother, Richard Bates; 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered on Tuesday, September 26, in the Holy Trinity Church, following the funeral from the Dooley Colonial Home, 556 Westfield Avenue in Westfield.
Philip Lombardi, Sr.
Army Veteran; Was Employed With General Motors
Philip Lombardi, Sr., 84, of North Plainfield died on Monday, November 22, 1999 at the Genesis ElderCare Center in Westfield.
Born in Staten Island, he had lived in Plainfield before moving to North Plainfield 60 years ago.
He had been a line worker for General Motors in Linden, retiring in 1974 after 32 years with the company.
Mr. Lombardi was a United States Army veteran of World War II.
He was a communicant of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in North Plainfield.
He was predeceased by his wife, Frances Lombardi, in 1984.
Surviving are a son, Philip Lombardi, Jr. of Fanwood; two brothers, Guy Lombardi and Michael Lombardi, both of Plainfield; a sister, Ann Hall of Piscataway; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A Mass was offered on Saturday, November 27, at St. Joseph Church.
Burial was at Hillside Cemetery in Scotch Plains.
Arrangements were handled by the Scarpa Funeral Home in North Plainfield.
Lucille SanGiuliano
Lucille SanGiuliano of Cranford died on Tuesday, November 23, 1999 at home.
Born in Westfield, she lived in Cranford for most of her life.
Mrs. SanGiuliano was a member of the Cranford Senior Citizens Friday Club.
Surviving are her husband, Arthur SanGiuliano; a son, Joseph SanGiuliano; a daughter, Elaine Magee; seven grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Services were held on Friday, November 26, at the Cranford United Methodist Church in Cranford.
Arrangements were handled by the Dooley Funeral Home, 218 North Avenue in Cranford.
Troy Stiffler, 74
Decorated Veteran; Had Been Self-Employed Mason
Troy B. Stiffler, 74, of Scotch Plains died on Wednesday, November 24, 1999 at home.
Born in Prague, Pottawatomie County, Okla., he moved to Scotch Plains in 1946.
Mr. Stiffler had owned Stiffler Mason Contractors Inc. in Scotch Plains for 45 years before retiring in 1990.
Earlier, he had been a superintendent with the Arthur Venneri Company in Westfield.
He was a 1949 graduate of the Newark School of Industrial Drafting and Design.
Mr. Stiffler was a United States Army veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater with the 706th Ordnance.
He received the Asiatic Pacific Ribbon with one Bronze Star.
He was a member of the New Jersey Bricklayers Local No. 14 of Plainfield and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 10122 in Scotch Plains.
Surviving are his wife, Amelia Iarussi Stiffler; two sons, Gary Stiffler and Kevin Stiffler; three daughters, Janet Stiffler, Linda Masi and Deborah LaMorticella; two sisters, Edythe McWilliams and Eva Rose and six grandchildren.
A Mass was offered on Saturday, November 27, at St. Bartholomew the Apostle Roman Catholic Church in Scotch Plains, following funeral services at the Rossi Funeral Home in Scotch Plains.

Vivian Levine, 76
Vivian Levine, 76, of Mountainside died on Thursday, November 25, 1999 in Overlook Hospital in Summit.
Born in Cheautagay, N.Y., she had lived in Springfield before moving to Mountainside 33 years ago.
Mrs. Levine had been a supervisor at Investment Casting Corporation in Springfield for 38 years prior to retiring in 1986.
Surviving are her husband, Joseph Levine; a son, Dr. Arthur Levine; two brothers, Ross Ezro and Ambrose Ezro, and two grandchildren.
Arrangements were handled by the Menorah Chapels at Millburn in Union.
Theresa Larino, 66
Theresa Larino, 66, of Berkeley Township died on Thursday, November 25, 1999 in the Community Medical Center in Toms River.
Born in Bayonne, she had lived in Westfield and Scotch Plains before moving to the Silver Ridge Park East section of Berkeley Township.
Mrs. Larino had been an assistant branch manager with the Lincoln Federal Savings and Loan in Westfield for 25 years before retiring in 1993.
She was a member and fundraiser with Silver Ridge Park East.
Surviving are her husband, John Larino; two sons, John Larino and Edward Larino; two daughters, Janet Treffinger and Carol Larino; a brother, Leonard Volenski, and five grandchildren.
A Mass was offered on Tuesday, November 30, at St. Maximilian Kolbe Church in Toms River.
Arrangements were handled by the Quinn Hopping Funeral Home in Toms River.
