Charles V. Scanielo, 47, of Westfield died on Thursday, November 25, 1999 in the New York Presbyterian Hospital.
Born in Jersey City, he had lived in Roselle before moving to Westfield three years ago.
Mr. Scanielo was a foreman with the Interstate Drywall in Clifton for 13 years.
He was a member of the Carpenter's Union Local No. 6 of Jersey City.
Surviving are his wife, Colleen Scanielo; two sons, Michael Scanielo and Christopher Scanielo, and a sister, Denise Barry.
A Mass was offered on Monday, November 29, in St. Joseph the Carpenter Roman Catholic Church in Roselle.
Arrangements were handled by the Walter J. Johnson Funeral Home in Clark.
Nellie Megaro, 80
Was Co-Owner Of Confectionary Store for 25 Years
Nellie Megaro, 80, of Scotch Plains died on Thursday, November 25, 1999 in the John F. Kennedy Medical Center in Edison.
Born in Hazelton, she had lived in Newark, Toms River and Union before moving to Scotch Plains 20 years ago.
Mrs. Megaro had been the co-owner, with her late husband, Carmine Megaro, of Carmine's Confectionary Store in East Orange for 25 years before retiring 20 years ago.
Surviving are a son, Anthony Megaro; two daughters, Louise Aldi and Karen Megaro; a sister, Margaret Restaino, and four grandchildren.
A Mass was offered on Monday, November 29, in St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church in Union, following the funeral from the Galante Funeral Home in Union.
Robert Dello Russo, 77
Retired Educator, Administrator in Westfield School District
Robert Dello Russo, 77, of Westfield, died on Friday, November 26, 1999 at Morristown Memorial Hospital in Morristown.
Born in Westfield, he resided there for most of his life.
Mr. Dello Russo had been an educator and also an administrator in the Westfield public school system for 27 years, retiring in 1983.
He was a United States Army veteran of World War II.
Surviving are his wife, Terry Dello Russo; two sons, Robert Dello Russo of Socorro, N.M. and James Dello Russo of Huntington Beach, Calif.; two stepsons, Andrew Rupp of Berkeley Heights and Christopher Rupp of Nevada; a stepdaughter, Sheila Deck of Bridgewater; three sisters, Frances Donato of Scotch Plains, Fanny Hoenicke of Pennsylvania and Mildred Valeri of California, and three grandchildren.
A gathering of family and friends will take place today, Thursday, December from 7 to 8: 30 p.m. at the Dooley Colonial Home, 556 Westfield Avenue in Westfield. A memorial service will follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Westfield Volunteer Rescue Squad, 335 Watterson Street, Westfield, 07090.
Patricia Moum, 70
Was Library Secretary At Edison School in Westfield for 14 Years
Patricia Ann Moum, 70, of Seaford, Del., died on Friday, November 26, 1999 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, Md.
Born in Eau Claire, Wis., she was the daughter of the late Elroy Edward Ledebur and Elsie Benson Ledebur Bailey.
Mrs. Moum had been a library secretary at Edison Intermediate School in Westfield, formerly known as Edison Junior High School, for 14 years prior to retiring in 1992.
She had been employed as a registered nurse at the Fairmont Municipal Hospital in Fairmont, Minn. from 1950 to 1958, when she began working for the Atomic Energy Commission in Ames, Iowa.
She was a member of the Reformation Lutheran Church and served on several committees, and was also a member of the Sussex Bird Club, of which she was Secretary.
Mrs. Moum volunteered at the Seaford Public Library.
Surviving are her husband of 48 years, Dr. Stanley Gordon Moum; three sons, Dr. Eric Elroy Ellsworth Moum of Boca Raton, Fla., Paul Allan Moum of Westfield and Peter Stanley Moum of Richmond, Va.; a daughter, Barbara Ann Moum of Columbus, Ohio; two brothers, Allan Edward Ledebur of Grand Junction, Colo. and Roger Benson Ledebur of Dallas, Tex., and 10 grandchildren.
He was a member of Westfield UNICO.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 11, at 11 a.m. at the Reformation Lutheran Church in Milford, Del.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Reformation Lutheran Church, 613 Lakeview Avenue, Milford, Del., 19963 or to the Cardiac Rehabilitation Program, in care of Peninsula Regional Medical Center, Salisbury, Md., 21801.
Arrangements are being handled by the Lofland Funeral Home in Milford.
Beatrice Maguire, 86
Beatrice G. Tetreault Maguire, 86, of Westfield, died Sunday, November 28, 1999 at home.
Born and educated in Montreal, Canada, she moved to Boston, Mass., where she married James J. Maguire.
She lived in Quincy, Mass. for 48 years before moving to Westfield 14 years ago.
Mrs. Maguire worked at Maryland Casualty Insurance Company in Boston for 20 years before retiring in 1975.
Before that she had worked at the Gilcrest Department Store in Boston.
She was predeceased by her husband in 1953.
Surviving are a daughter, Marianne M. Kerwin of Westfield; two grandsons, Colin Joseph Kerwin of Houston, Tex. and Kevin John Kerwin of Glenelg, Md., and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 4, at 9 a.m. at the Dooley Colonial Home, 556 Westfield Avenue, Westfield.
A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church in Westfield.
Interment will beat Fairview Cemetery in Westfield.
Christine Green, 63
Christine Green, 63, of South Plainfield died on Monday, November 29, 1999 at home.
She had lived in Plainfield before moving to South Plainfield 45 years ago.
Mrs. Green was a homemaker. She was a member of the Warren Temple in Fanwood.
Surviving are two sons, Eugene Green, Jr. of South Plainfield and Randy Green of North Brunswick; two daughters, Jean Ann Green of South Plainfield and Stephanie Green of Plainfield; seven sisters, Roberta Pearyer of Newark, Corrine Green of Fanwood, Mary Ann Pearyer of Orange, Dorothy Jones of Scotch Plains, Sheila Huff and Cynthia Daniels, both of Plainfield, and Rosalind Pearyer of Temple Hills, Md.; five brothers, Walter Pearyer of Allentown, Pa., Tyrone Pearyer of New Brunswick, Berkley Pearyer and Michael Pearyer, both of Plainfield, and Leon Pearyer of Waterbury, Conn., and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. tomorrow, Friday, December 3, at 10 a.m. at the Warren Temple.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today, Thursday, December 2, at the Judkins Colonial Home in Plainfield.
Lawrence Novello, 73
Worked in Finance; Owned Starlight Cleaners for 11 Years
Lawrence Novello, 73, of Barnegat died on Monday, November 29, 1999 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Barnegat.
Born in Montozzoli, Provence of Chiete, Italy, he had lived in Scotch Plains before moving to Barnegat in 1988.
Mr. Novello had owned the Starlight Cleaners in Garwood for 11 years before retiring in 1988.
Previously, he had worked in international finance for the Chase Manhattan Bank in New York City and the New Jersey Bank in Paterson.
He attended the University of Naples and Pace University and Columbia University, both in New York City.
Mr. Novello served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
Surviving are his wife, Giovanna Novello; two sons, Michael Novello and Anthony Novello; two daughters, Phyllis Reddington and Sandy Marcovecchio; two sisters, Clementina Checchio and Concetta DelNegro, and nine grandchildren.
A Mass will be offered tomorrow, Friday, December 3, at 10 a.m. in St. Bartholomew the Apostle Roman Catholic Church in Scotch Plains, following the funeral from the Rossi Funeral Home in Scotch Plains.
John Morganelli, 78
Columbia Grad; Worked for NJ Department of Labor
John L. Morganelli, 78, of Garwood died on Tuesday, December 28, 1999 while on vacation with his family in Naples, Italy.
Born in Orange, he had lived in Jersey City, Roselle Park and Westfield before moving to Garwood last year.
Mr. Morganelli was a veterans employment interviewer with the New Jersey Department of Labor in Elizabeth for the past eight years.
He was a United States Army veteran of World War II.
He earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business from Rutgers University in 1947 and a Master of Arts Degree in Business from Columbia University in 1952.
Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Esther Sansone Morganelli; a son, Leonardo Morganelli of Garwood; a daughter, Andrea Morganelli of Hackensack and a sister, Ruth Miceli of Orange.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday, January 10, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Anne’s Roman Catholic Church in Garwood.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Dooley Funeral Home, 218 North Avenue in Cranford.
