Theresa Weber, 93, of Mountainside died Sunday, January 9, 2000 in Overlook Hospital in Summit.
Born in Newark, she moved to Mountainside 53 years ago.
A Mass will be offered at 10 a.m. tomorrow, Friday, January 14, in Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church in Mountainside.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Smith and Smith (Suburban) in Springfield.
Armando Freda, 85
Armando “Ziggy” Freda, 85, of Westfield died on Tuesday, October 31, 2000 in Rahway Hospital.
Born and raised in Newark, he lived in Westfield since 1973.
Mr. Freda had been self-employed as a house painter before retiring in 1980.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Newark.
Surviving are a son, Carmine Freda; a brother, Romeo Freda, and a sister, Julia Ritonnale.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered yesterday, Wednesday, November 8, at St. Helen’s Roman Catholic Church in Westfield.
Interment took place at the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in East Orange.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Dooley Colonial Home, 556 Westfield Avenue in Westfield.
Ella Horn Hurtack, 71
Ella Horn Hurtack, 71, of Fanwood died on Tuesday, October 31, 2000 at Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center in Plainfield.
Born and raised in Newark, she relocated to Fanwood 40 years ago.
Mrs. Hurtack had been a waitress at the Willow Shop in Scotch Plains for 12 years and later worked for Gingers Bakery, also in Scotch Plains, for 12 years.
Surviving are her husband, Michael Hurtack; a son, Michael Hurtack, Jr. of Fanwood, and a sister, Betty Clarity of Harrison.
Memorial services were held on Friday, November 3, at the James W. Conroy Funeral Home in South Plainfield.
Irene M. Snell
Irene M. Snell of Hendersonville, N.C. died on Wednesday, November 1, 2000 in Carolina Village, a nursing facility in Hendersonville.
Born in Syracuse, N.Y., she had lived in Westfield for 36 years before relocating to Henderson County in 1969.
Mrs. Snell was a 50year member of the P. E. O. Sisterhood, an organization for women, and served as President of the International Chapter from 1977 to 1979. She was also a member of St. James Episcopal Church in Hendersonville.
Surviving are two daughters, Carol Weiss of Bartlesville, Okla. and Marcia Schnabel of Chagrin Falls, Ohio; seven grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at St. James Episcopal Church at a later date.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Thos. Shepherd & Son Funeral Directors and Cremation Memorial Center in Hendersonville.

Aurelia Constandis, 93
Aurelia Constandis, 93, of Clark died on Tuesday, October 31, 2000 at home.
Born in Romania, she had lived in Westfield before moving to Clark eight years ago.
Mrs. Constandis had been an elementary teacher in Romania for 37 years before retiring 30 years ago.
Surviving are her husband, Constantin Constandis; two sons, Dr. Decebal Constandis and Dr. C. Geirge Constandis, and three grandchildren.
Services were held on Friday, November 3, at the Walter J. Johnson Funeral Home in Clark.
Linda C. Hanes, 58
Linda C. Hanes, 58, of Scotch Plains died on Sunday, October 29, 2000 at home.
Born in Plainfield, she had lived in Plainfield and Scotch Plains before moving to Glendale, Calif. and then to Walnut Creek, Calif.
She returned to Scotch Plains in 1994.
Ms. Hanes had been a receptionist for Lockheed Electronics in Watchung.
She was a homemaker while living in California and after returning to Scotch Plains she worked for the Westfield Board of Education as a lunch aide.
She was a member of the Scotch Plains Lions Club and volunteered for many club functions.
She was predeceased by her father, Nicholas J. Capone, in 1989; her mother, Mary J. Del Nero Capone, in 1995, and by a sister, Patricia Hacker, in 1990.
Surviving are a daughter, Terri L. Spencer; a sister, Donna Romano, and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, November 4, at the Rossi Funeral Home in Scotch Plains, followed by a Mass at St. Bartholomew the Apostle Roman Catholic Church in Scotch Plains.
Interment took place at St. Gertrude’s Cemetery in Colonia.
John A. Ferrara, 89
Retired Manager Of Two Restaurants in West Orange
John A. Ferrara, 89, of Scotch Plains died on Monday, October 30, 2000 at Holmdel Health Care Center in Holmdel.
Born in Italy, he came to the United States in 1913. He had lived in Newark before relocating to Scotch Plains in 1945.
Mr. Ferrara, who was a mason by trade, had worked as a restaurant manager for 30 years at The Manor and The Westwood restaurants, both in West Orange, before retiring in 1972.
He was a communicant of St. Bartholomew the Apostle Roman Catholic Church in Scotch Plains and a member of the Scotch Hills Country Club.
He was predeceased by his wife, Helen Marko Ferrara, in 1969.
Surviving are two sons, John A. Ferrara, Jr. and R. James Ferrara; two brothers, A. Gerardo Ferrara and Constantine J. Ferrara; a sister, Mary Mellilo, and eight grandchildren.
Funeral services took place on Friday, November 3, from the Rossi Funeral Home in Scotch Plains, followed by a Mass at St. Bartholomew the Apostle Church.
Interment will be private.
Samuel Abrams, 90
Army Veteran; Owned Variety Store in Jersey City
Samuel Abrams, 90, of Mountainside died on Tuesday, October 31, 2000 at Overlook Hospital in Summit.
Born in Connecticut, he had lived in Jersey City for most of his life.
He had also resided in Bernards Township before moving to Mountainside.
Mr. Abrams and his wife had owned and operated a variety store known as Jack’s 5 & Dime Store in Jersey City for more than 30 years before retiring in 1980.
A United States Army veteran, he was stationed in Camp Kilmer and also served in France during World War II.
He was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Rose Kadesh Abrams, in 1998, and by a brother who was killed in World War II.
Surviving are several nieces, nephews, grand- and great-nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Monday, November 6, at the Higgins Home for Funerals in North Plainfield, with Rabbi Moshe Samber officiating.
Interment took place at Beth Israel Cemetery in Woodbridge.
