Christine C. Foley, 88
Christine C. MacIver Foley, 88, a former Westfield resident, died on Thursday, November 9, 2000 in Porter Hills Village in Michigan.
Born in Roxbury, Mass., she moved to Westfield in 1954 and relocated to Michigan seven years ago.
Mrs. Foley was a communicant of the Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church in Westfield.
She was predeceased by her husband, Paul J. Foley, Sr., in 1988, and by a son, Patrick J. Foley, in 1996.
Surviving are two daughters, Carole Foley of Basking Ridge and Kathleen Cornwell of Pollacksville, N.C.; two sons, Peter J. Foley of Grand Rapids, Mich. and Paul J. Foley, Jr. of Lincoln, Neb.; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 18, from the Dooley Colonial Home, 556 Westfield Avenue in Westfield, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at the Holy Trinity Church. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield.
Visitation will take place tomorrow, Friday, November 17, from 7 to 9 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Porter Hills Village Benevolent Fund, 3600 Fulton East, Grand Rapids, Mich. 49546.
Peggy Lott
A memorial service for Peggy Harris Lott will be held at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow, Friday, November 17, 2000 at The Presbyterian Church in Westfield.
A reception will follow at the church.
Mrs. Lott, a former resident of Fanwood and Westfield, died on October 23 at the Somerset Medical Center in Somerville.
She had lived in Bridgewater since 1997.

Arrangements were handled by the Memorial Funeral Home, 155 South Avenue in Fanwood.
Della M. Overton, 48
Della M. Overton, 48, of Piscataway died on Wednesday, November 1, 2000 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick.
Born in Camden, S. C., she had lived in Edison for 14 years before moving to Piscataway two years ago.
Mrs. Overton was a licensed practical nurse at Children’s Specialized Hospital in Mountainside for 19 years.
She was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church in Westfield.
Surviving are her husband, John Overton; a son, Jermaine Overton of Piscataway; her mother, Laura Atkins of Camden, S. C.; four sisters, Janie Brown, Geneva Thomas and Dorothy Atkins, all of Camden, and Louise Atkins of Plainfield; five brothers, James Atkins and Lawrence Atkins of Camden, Dalton Atkins, Jr. of Columbia, S. C., Willie Atkins of Greenville, N.C. and Johnny Atkins of Westfield, and two grandchildren.
Services were held on Monday, November 6, at the Bethel Baptist Church.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Judkins Colonial Home in Plainfield.
Robert A. Babetski, Sr., 67
Former Coach, Biology Teacher at Cranford High School
Robert A. Babetski, Sr., 67, of Westfield died on Sunday, November 12, 2000 at Morristown Memorial Hospital in Morristown.
Born in Glen Lyon, Pa., he moved to Westfield in 1958.
Mr. Babetski had been a biology teacher at Cranford High School for 34 years before retiring in 1993.
He was also the Junior Varsity and Varsity Baseball Coach at the high school from 1962 to 1972.
He was a member of the American Legion Martin Wallberg Post No. 3 in Westfield.
He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology and History from Bloomsburg College in Bloomsburg, Pa., in 1958 and earned his master’s degree in business administration from Kean College in Union in 1970.
Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Olga Samuelson Babetski; two sons, Daniel Babetski of Merrimack, N. H. and Robert A. Babetski of Westfield; two sisters, Dolores Sugalski of Charleston, Tenn. and Irene Stralka of North Kingstown, R. I., and two grandsons.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. today, Thursday, November 16, at the Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church in Westfield.
Interment will take place at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Gray Funeral Home, 318 East Broad Street in Westfield.
Patricia Bernstein, 60
Realtor; Worked in International Finance
Patricia Bernstein, 60, of Sea Bright died on Tuesday, November 7, 2000 at home.
Born in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada, she had lived in Howell and Westfield before relocating to Sea Bright six years ago.
Mrs. Bernstein was a real estate agent for Burgdorff Realtors in Middletown, where she earned Million Dollar Club status.
She previously owned and operated Le Petit Salon, a women’s apparel store in Westfield, and worked as an international finance officer for the Bank of America in California and Manhattan.
She received a bachelor’s degree in finance and management from Pace University in New York.
Mrs. Bernstein was a member of the Shrewsbury Power Squadron.
Surviving are a daughter, Karolyn Wray; a son, Victor Stevens; a stepdaughter, Sheree Volak; a stepson, Michael Bernstein; her mother, Geraldine Vallee; two sisters, Charlotte Vallee and Karo Vallee, and seven grandchildren.
Memorial services were held on Friday, November 10, in the Sea Bright United Methodist Church.
Arrangements were handled by the John E. Day Funeral Home in Red Bank.

Edmund Thomas, 79
Edmund Monk Thomas, 79, of Plainfield died on Monday, November 6, 2000 at his home.
Born in Westfield, he had lived there before moving to Plainfield 45 years ago.
Mr. Thomas had been employed as a maintenance worker for the South Second Street Youth Center in Plainfield for more than 20 years until retiring in 1994.
He was a member of the Cosmos Social Club of Plainfield.
Mr. Thomas received the Man of the Year Award in 1970 from the Plainfield Chapter of the NAACP and the NAACP Achievement Award in 1995.
He was a United States Army veteran of World War II.
Surviving are his wife, Pearl Williams Thomas; eight sons, Larry Thomas of New York, Flip Thomas of Boston, Mass., Leroy Thomas of Houston, Tex., Derek Thomas of Atlanta, Ga., Jerome Thomas, Keith Thomas, Eland Thomas and Howard Thomas, all of Plainfield; three daughters, Barbara Tucker, Tamara Thomas and Monique Thomas, all of Plainfield; a brother, Charles Thomas of Plainfield; three sisters, Minnie Gordon, Heatherine Doyle and Katie Luck, all of Plainfield; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, November 11, at the Higgins Home for Funerals in Plainfield.
Interment will take place in Hillside Cemetery of Samptown in South Plainfield.
Dominick Urciuoli, 85
Army Veteran; Retired Foreman at Merck Chemical
Dominick Urciuoli, 85, of Green Brook died on Wednesday, November 8, 2000 at the Greenbrook Manor Nursing Home.
Born in Westfield, he had lived in North Plainfield for most of his life before relocating to Green Brook.
Mr. Urciuoli had been a foreman for Merck Chemical in Rahway and retired after 35 years of service.
He was a United States Army veteran of World War II.
He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Maria Urciuoli, and by two sisters, Josephine Hannis and Molly Ventimiglia.
Surviving are a daughter, Janice Urciuoli of South Plainfield; a brother, Anthony Urciuoli of Toms River, and three sisters, Anna Urciuoli and Helen Appezzatto, both of Westfield, and Lisa Ferry of Towanda, Pa.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, November 11, at the A. S. Cole Funeral Home in Cranbury, with the Reverend Dennis O’Neill, Pastor of the First Baptist Church of South Plainfield, officiating.
Interment followed at Dayton Cemetery in Dayton.

Alice S. Moomjy, 71
Alice S. Moomjy, 71, of Westfield died on Sunday, November 12, 2000 at home.
Born in Ethiopia, she had lived in Far Hills, Queens and in Bloomfield before moving to Westfield 37 years ago.
Mrs. Moomjy was a member of the Women’s College Club of Westfield.
She graduated from Allegheny College in Meadville, Pa., with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. Surviving are her husband, Albert Moomjy; two sons, Alex V. Moomjy and Robert A. Moomjy; a brother, John Condayan, and three grandchildren.
Services will be held at 1: 30 p.m. today, Thursday, November 16, in St. Mary’s Armenian Church in Livingston.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Higgins and Bonner Echo Lake Funeral Home in Westfield.
