Edgar Dennis Savacool, 86, of Delray Beach, Florida, formerly of Mountainside, died on Sunday, July 11, 1999 at Boca Raton Hospital in Boca Raton, Florida.
He had lived in Irvington before moving to Mountainside in 1965, relocating to Delray Beach eight years ago after retiring.
Mr. Savacool had owned and operated Edgar D. Savacool Realtors of Bloomfield, Mountainside and New Providence.
He was a former President of the Mountainside Lions Club and the Newark Chapter of the Barbershop Quartets.
He was also a member of the Mountainside B.P.O.E. before retiring to Delray Beach.
A First Lieutenant during World War II, Mr. Savacool served as a tugboat captain. He received the Bronze Star and various campaign medals.
Surviving are his wife, Anna Pat Savacool; two daughters, Pat White of Brentwoods, Tennessee and Kathleen Savacool of Mountainside; a sister, Polly Bzdek of Bloomfield; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at the Church of Palms in Delray Beach on Saturday, July 31.
Memorial donations may be made in lieu of flowers to the Diabetes Foundation.
William James, 71
Was Army Veteran; Construction Worker With Local No. 702
William James, 71, of Plainfield died on Monday, July 5, 1999 at Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center in Plainfield.
Born in Scotch Plains, he was a lifelong resident of Plainfield.
Mr. James was employed as a construction worker by Local No. 702 in Elizabeth.
He attended Plainfield public schools.
He joined the U.S. Army in 1945.
Surviving are a son, Leo Brown; a daughter, Lita Lewis; three sisters, Daisy Campbell, Teodora Hayden and Catherine Perkins and a granddaughter.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 10, at the Metropolitan Baptist Church in Scotch Plains.
Interment was held at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield.
Arrangements were handled by Plinton-Curry Funeral Home in Westfield.
Joseph Thome, Sr., 78
WW II Vet; Was Food Service Administrator
Joseph E. Thome, Sr., 78, of Clearwater, Florida died on Monday, July 12, 1999 in Mease Hospital in Dunedin, Florida.
Born in West Grove, he had lived in Westfield before moving to Clearwater in 1991.
Mr. Thome had been a food service administrator for the County of Essex in the Essex County Courthouse in Newark for many years before retiring.
He served in the United States Army Air Force during World War II.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Madelyn Thome; three sons, Dennis Thome, Lieutenant Colonel Joseph E. Thome, Jr. and Timothy Patrick Thome; a daughter, Betty J. Maloney; a sister, Lillian Smalley, and nine grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be offered tomorrow, Friday, July 16, at 11 a.m. in the Light of Christ Church in Clearwater.
Arrangements were handled by the Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home in Clearwater.
Frederick Buesser, 78
Retired Accountant Had Worked for Major Area Companies
Frederick C. Buesser, 78, of Scotch Plains died on Tuesday, March 16, 1999 at home.
Born in Guttenberg, he had lived in Fairview and North Bergen before moving to Scotch Plains in 1961.
Mr. Buesser had been an accountant with Johnson & Johnson in New Brunswick for 20 years before retiring from the firm in 1980.
He subsequently worked for H & R Block in Plainfield from 1980 to 1992.
He was a 1952 graduate of New York University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business.
He was a United States Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.
Surviving are his wife, Emily Bernroth Buesser, and two brothers, George Buesser and Robert W. Buesser.
Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, March 20, at the Rossi Funeral Home in Scotch Plains.

Marius Zawodniak, 72
Navy Veteran; Owned Eastside Pharmacy in Newark
Marius J. Zawodniak, 72, of Toms River died on Wednesday, March 17, 1999 at home.
Born in Elizabeth, he had lived in Fanwood and Woodbridge before moving to Toms River two years ago.
Mr. Zawodniak, a pharmacist, had owned the Eastside Pharmacy in Newark for 34 years before retiring in 1994.
Mr. Zawodniak was a graduate of Rutgers University, and a United States Navy veteran of World War II.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council in Scotch Plains, the Polish Falcon Association in Newark-Linden, and the Rutgers University Alumni Association.
Surviving are his wife, Nancy Zawodniak; three sons, Gary Zawodniak, David Zawodniak, and Daniel Zawodniak; two daughters, Gail Ennis and Janet Zawodniak; two brothers, Leonard Zawodniak and Richard Zawodniak, and seven grandchildren.
A Mass was offered on Saturday, March 20, in St. Justin’s Roman Catholic Church in Toms River, following the funeral from the Silverton Memorial Funeral Home in Toms River.
Rev. Msgr. Reinbold
Was Former Pastor At St. Bartholomew the Apostle Church
Reverend Monsignor Francis A. Reinbold, 84, of Peekskill, New York, died on Monday, March 22, 1999 in Mount St. Francis, a nursing care facility in Peekskill.
Monsignor Reinbold was ordained a priest in 1940, and was assigned to St. Michael’s Church in Elizabeth where he was an associate priest and administrator.
He was then named the church’s priest in 1964.
In 1974, he was assigned to St. Bartholomew the Apostle Roman Catholic Church as pastor and was eventually named monsignor.
In 1984, he was named pastor emeritus of the church. After retiring, he assisted at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church in Barnegat.
Monsignor Reinbold was involved with many committees in the Newark Archdiocese and helped found the Christian Youth Organization, the Priest’s Senate, the Finance Committee, the Archbishop Annual Appeal Committee and the Parish Assessment Committee.
He served as Chaplain for the police, fire and postal workers in Union County.
He was also the Chaplain for the Knights of Columbus Councils 253 and 5730 of Newark, the Catholic War Veterans of New Jersey and the Newark Archdiocese Marriage Tribunal.
He was a graduate of Seton Hall University and Immaculate Conception Seminary in Darlington.
Surviving are a sister, Josephine Doerer and two brothers, Anthony A. Reinbold and Reverend Charles A. Reinbold.
A Funeral Mass will be offered tomorrow, Friday, March 26, at 10 a.m. at St. Bartholomew Church in Scotch Plains.

Evelyn S. Gayara, 82
Evelyn S. Gayara, 82, of Scotch Plains, died on Friday, March 19, 1999 in St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston.
Born in Newark, she had lived in Cedar Grove, Maplewood and Union before moving to Scotch Plains five years ago.
Mrs. Gayara was a teller for the Fidelity Union Trust Company in Newark before retiring.
Earlier, she was a payroll clerk for Henry Pfeifer, Inc. in Newark and was also an Avon representative.
Surviving are a son, John S. Gayara, and two grandchildren.
Arrangements were handled by the Haeberle & Barth Colonial Home in Union.
Louis Malinowski, 93
Louis F. Malinowski, 93, of Scotch Plains, died on Sunday, March 21, 1999 at home.
Born in Poland, he had lived in Newark before moving to Scotch Plains in 1950.
Mr. Malinowski had owned and operated Republic Pearl Buttons in Newark with his brothers for 40 years before retiring in 1968.
Mr. Malinowski was a member of St. Bartholomew the Apostle Roman Catholic Church in Scotch Plains.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Angela Malinowski; three sons, Louis J. Malinowski, Martin Malinowski and Edward Malinowski; a daughter, Marcia Tyler; 15 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, March 24, at the Rossi Funeral Home in Scotch Plains.
