Mary A. Nebus
Mrs. Nebus, 63, of Middletown, died Oct. 17 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Red Bank, she resided in Middletown most of her life. Mrs. Nebus was a food service supervisor at Riverview Medical Center, where she was employed 25 years before her retirement. She is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Cheryl and Robert Wright, and Donna Nebus; a brother, John Kane; a sister and brother-in-law, Kathy and George Evans, all of Middletown; and three nephews. William S. Moore III
Mr. Moore, 75, of Sea Bright, died Oct. 17. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he relocated to Sea Bright following his retirement in 1976 from New York City Rescue No. 2 where he was a fireman. Following retirement, he was a code enforcer and building inspector locally in Sea Bright and Tinton Falls, and for the state of New Jersey. He was predeceased by a daughter, Theresa Moore. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Loretta Moore, of Sea Bright; a daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and Scott Johansen, of Sun Valley, Calif.; a son and daughter-in-law, William and Carol Moore IV, of the Wanamassa section of Ocean Township; and seven granddaughters. Elizabeth W. “Nicky” Moss
Mrs. Moss, 87, died Oct. 22 at New Jersey Veterans Home, Menlo Park, following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Born in Baltimore, she resided in the Shore area before moving to Middletown, where she resided 50 years. Mrs. Moss was a nurse at St. James School, Red Bank, and Red Bank Catholic High School, for 25 years, retiring in 1982. She was also employed part-time at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank, from 1970-94, and prior to that, at Fitkin Hospital, now Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. She served with the U.S. Navy during World War II as a nurse from 1943-45. She was a communicant of St. James Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank, and a member of the Shadow Lake Socializers Club, Shadow Lake section of Middletown. Mrs. Moss was predeceased by her husband, Robert Moss, in 1964; and two brothers, Ridgley Nichols, in 1996, and Donald Nichols, in 1999. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Dennis Bliss of Middletown; a son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Kathryn Moss of Washington, D.C.; a brother, Steve Nichols of Baltimore; and four grandchildren. Tina J. DeFalco
Mrs. DeFalco, 86, of Little Silver, died Oct. 14 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Red Bank, she resided in Little Silver the past 48 years. She was a teacher at Red Bank Middle School, retiring in 1994. Upon retirement, she received a special award for 53 years of service from former President George H.W. Bush. Prior to that, she taught at Oakland Street and Mechanic Street schools, Red Bank, and was honored as Teacher of the Year in 1978. She also served on the New Jersey Education Association Board of Examiners for 15 years. She was inducted into the Red Bank Regional High School Hall of Fame in 2004. She was predeceased by her husband, Gene; a brother, Gerald Canella; and a sister, Marie DeFillippo. She is survived by a son and daughter-ion-law, Gene and Candy DeFalco, of Fair Haven; two sisters, Ann Mandia, of Rumson, and Christina Blenke, of White House Station; and three grandchildren. Rose Czech
Mrs. Czech, of Middletown, died Oct. 18 at Brighton Gardens, Middletown. Born in Nanticoke, Pa., she resided in Jersey City and Shadow Lake Village before moving to Brighton Gardens four years ago. Mrs. Czech was a homemaker. Prior to that, she was employed in New York City for 25 years, retiring in 1981. She was a member of the Ukrainian Catholic Church of St. Peter and Paul, Jersey City, where she was a member of its Sisterhood of the Blessed Virgin Mary. She was predeceased by her husband, Walter B. Czech, in 1974; and a brother, Mitchell Walkowitz, in 1976. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and Dominick Cerchio of Red Bank, and Nancy and Dennis O’Melia of Scottsdale, Ariz.; a sister, Eleanor Yaga of McKeesport, Pa.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Catherine Mary Billings
Mrs. Billings, age 90, of Long Branch, died Sept. 13 at St. Barnabas Hospice and Palliative Care Center, Long Branch. Born in New York, she resided in Howell prior to moving to Long Branch 11 years ago. She was a cafeteria worker at Howell Township Public School System, retiring in 1976. She was predeceased by her husband, James Raymond Billing in 1992; and a granddaughter. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Kate Billings of Long Branch, and Robert and Jean Billings of Sparta; a daughter and son-in-law, Doris and William Kolesar of Port Charlotte, Fla.; a brother, Billy Norton of Texas; two sisters, Margaret Bowe of Howell, and Helen Whales of New York; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be Sept. 17 at 10:30 a.m. at Damiano Funeral Home, Long Branch, followed by interment at Woodbine Cemetery, Oceanport. Edith M. Noland
Mrs. Noland, 88, of Middletown died Aug. 31 at Meridian Nursing and Rehabilitation, Red Bank. She had lived in the Bronx, N.Y., and Rochelle Park before moving to Middletown in 1956. Mrs. Noland was assistant to the president of New York Telephone Co. and worked at Fort Monmouth before retiring in 1972. Mrs. Noland was a graduate of the Grace Institute of New York City and attended Hunter College, New York City. She was a communicant of St. James Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank, where she was a member of the Rosary Altar Society and a volunteer at parish's elementary school during the 1950s and 1960s. She was a member of the St. James and Croydon Hall (Middletown) senior citizens organizations, and the Ship Ahoy Beach Club, Sea Bright. Mrs. Noland was predeceased by a brother, Martin Froehly, and a daughter, Carolyn Rose Noland. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, John L. Noland; a brother, Bertram Froehly; a daughter, Janet Noland Panter of Middletown; a son, Commander David Noland (U.S. Navy Retired) of Eau Claire, Wis.; a daughter-in-law, Rebecca K. Noland of Eau Claire; and four grandchildren, including Caroline Panter of Middletown and Assemblyman Michael J. Panter of Shrewsbury. The John E. Delbert L. Thorne
Mr. Thorne, 60, of Folsom, Pa., died Sept. 11 at Taylor Community Hospital, Ridley Park, Pa. Born in Long Branch, he resided in Oceanport for 31 years prior to moving to Folsom five years ago. He was a parts manager, service manager and service director at Springfield Auto Outlet, Pennsylvania. He served with the U.S. Navy. He enjoyed antique automobiles. He was predeceased by his brother, Wilfred Thorne, in 2002. He is survived by his former wife, Betty Thorne of Brick; two daughters and one son-in-law, Lisa A. Thorne, and Andrea L. and Anthony Carlucci, all of Brick; two sisters, Alice Rourke of Tinton Falls, and Eleanor DeLisa of Long Branch; and one granddaughter.
Angela M. Boniello Senuto
Mrs. Senuto, 62, of Monmouth Beach, died Sept. 16 at Nyack (N.Y.) Hospital. Born in Long Branch, she resided in Monmouth Beach most of her life. She was a sales representative at F & A Distributors, Bayonne, for 20 years, retiring in 2003. She was a communicant of Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, Long Branch. Adolf E. “Red” Gioggia
Mr. Gioggia, 79, of Tinton Falls, died Aug. 28 at home. Born in Connecticut, he resided in Middletown prior to moving to Tinton Falls six months ago. He was a logistics manager at Fort Monmouth, Eatontown, for 30 years, retiring in 1981. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II, and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a member of St. Thomas Christian Academy, Toms River. He was an avid ham radio operator. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Dorothy Perkins Gioggia; a son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Patricia Gioggia of the Belford section of Middletown; a daughter, Lynn E.
