Marino Mosco, 76
Former Owner Of Cerv-All Heating, Air Conditioning
Marino Mosco, 76, of Scotch Plains, died on Friday, March 19, 1999 in Overlook Hospital in Summit.
Born in Dudley, Pennsylvania, he had lived in Summit for 31 years before moving to Scotch Plains 44 years ago.
Mr. Mosco was the owner and operator of the Cerv-All Heating & Air Conditioning Company in Hillside for 45 years before retiring eight years ago.
Surviving are a son, William Mosco; two daughters, Pamela Mosco and Nancy Mosco; two sisters, Susan Rauchut and Jean Vesper, and a brother, Chester Mosco.
A Funeral Mass was held on Tuesday, March 23, at St. Teresa of Avila Church in Summit.
Arrangements were handled by the Paul Ippolito Summit Memorial in Summit.

Charles Boyd, 91
Army Veteran; Owned Activity Products, Inc.
Charles M. Boyd, 91, of Westfield, died on Monday, March 22, 1999 at Father Hudson House in Elizabeth.
Born in Glens Falls, New York, he was raised in Albany, New York and had lived in Rockville Centre, New York before moving to Westfield in 1960.
Mr. Boyd had owned Activity Products, Inc., a toy company, in Westfield for many years prior to retiring in 1985.
Before forming Activity Products, he had been a systems analyst for Airco in Union for seven years, owned the Guardian Safety Equipment Company in Linden from 1960 to 1970, and had been a salesman for the Moore Business Forms Company in New York for many years.
He was a retired Army artillery captain, and had served in the Pacific and the Aleutians during World War II.
He was a 1931 graduate of New York University and had received a bachelor’s degree in business.
He was predeceased by his wife, Joan Keegan Boyd, in 1972.
Surviving are two daughters, Laurie Renart of Westfield and Lise Weinert of Mt. Laurel, and two grandchildren.
Visitation will be today, Thursday, March 25, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Dooley Colonial Home, 556 Westfield Avenue, Westfield.
A Funeral Liturgy will be held on Friday, March 26, at 10 a.m. at St. Helen’s Roman Catholic Church in Westfield.
Interment will be held in Fairview Cemetery in Westfield.
Memorial donations may be made in lieu of flowers to the Center for Hope Hospice, 176 Hussa Street, Linden, 07036.

Gertrude V. Bishop, 80
Gertrude Voege Bishop, 80, of Wilson, North Carolina, died on Monday, March 22, 1999 at Wilson Memorial Hospital in Wilson.
Born in Newark, she had lived in Scotch Plains before moving to Wilson last year.
Mrs. Bishop was Past President of the Scotch Plains-Fanwood Parent-Teacher Association.
She was also a member and Past Treasurer of the Scotch Plains Woman’s Club, and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in South Orange.
Surviving are her husband of 57 years, Donald W. Bishop; two daughters, Barbara O’Keefe of Branford, Connecticut and Jane Allman of Wilson; two sons, Donald Bishop, Jr. of New Gretna and Gary Bishop of East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania; a sister, Virginia Guyet of Titusville, Florida; nine grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held today, Thursday, March 25, at 10 a.m. at Memorial Funeral Home, 155 South Avenue, Fanwood.
Interment will be at Restland Memorial Park in East Hanover.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.

Rose M. Scanlon, 91
Local Rosarian; Mothers’ Guild President, Volunteer
Rose Mueller Scanlon, 91, of Westfield died on Thursday, March 18, 1999 at the Normandy Terrace Nursing Home in San Antonio, Texas.
Born and raised in Newark, she had lived in Westfield since 1939.
A member of the Plainfield Country Club since 1953, she also belonged to the Rosary Altar Society at both the Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church in Westfield and the Immaculate Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church in Scotch Plains.
She also was a member of the Holy Trinity Senior Social Club and the Women’s New Jersey Senior Golf Association, and was a Charter Member of the Rake and Hoe Garden Club of Westfield.
Mrs. Scanlon was the First President of the Mothers’ Guild of the Holy Trinity Church, and was a volunteer with the Children’s Country Home, the Needlework Guild, and the Youth Employment Service.
She and her late husband, J. Wallace Scanlon, Sr., were also Co-Presidents of the Parents’ Guild of Holy Trinity High School.
Surviving are two sons, J. Wallace Scanlon, Jr. of San Antonio and Laurence V. Scanlon of Durango, Colorado; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A Funeral service was held on Monday, March 22, at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church.
Interment took place at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield.
Arrangements were handled by the Dooley Colonial Home, 556 Westfield Avenue in Westfield.

Dorothy C. Sitek, 78
Dorothy C. Sitek, 78, of Fanwood died on Monday, March 15, 1999 in Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center in Plainfield.
Born in Newark, she had lived in Irvington before moving to Fanwood.
Surviving are a daughter, Lynn B. DeCuollo; a sister, Nell Skivinski, and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 20, in the Haeberle & Barth Colonial Home in Union.

James Coventry, 93
Honored Rotarian; Led Annual Pancake Day Ticket Sales
James Coventry, 93, a former Westfield resident, died on Friday, March 19, 1999 at the Masonic Home of New Jersey in Burlington.
Born in Dun Ferm Line, Scotland, he moved to Kearney in 1930 and then to Westfield in 1934, where he lived until moving to Burlington one year ago.
Mr. Coventry had owned his own plumbing and heating company in Westfield for 25 years before retiring in 1975.
During the 1930s and 1940s, he had worked for 15 years for the Kearney Shipbuilders and Drydock, making warships for the United States Navy.
He was a member of the Old Guard of Westfield and was Treasurer of the Senior Citizens Complex in Westfield for 15 years.
Mr. Coventry was also a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge, Atlas-Pythagoras in Westfield.
He was also a member for 45 years of the Rotary Club of Westfield, having served as club President from 1967 to 1968; Treasurer from 1971 to 1997; Treasurer Emeritus in 1997, and District Treasurer from 1985 to 1986. He was also on the Board of Directors from 1962 to 1967.
Mr. Coventry was a three-time recipient of the Paul Harris Award, and also received the Matty Matheson Award, both for outstanding service.
In addition, he was the leading seller of Pancake Day tickets for many years.
The breakfast event raises money for scholarships awarded by the Rotary Foundation.
During Mr. Coventry’s association with the Westfield Rotary Club, more than $1 million was raised for scholarships benefiting over 2, 000 high school students. He was the Student Fund President from 1968 to 1969.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Grace Lygate Coventry, in 1968 and by his second wife, Elizabeth Court Coventry, in 1980.
Surviving are many nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews.
Funeral services were held on Monday, March 22, at the Gray Funeral Home, 318 East Broad Street in Westfield.
Interment took place at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield.
Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Westfield Rotary Foundation, care of YMCA, Cowperthwaite Drive, Westfield, 07090.

Joseph Orban, 86
Joseph Orban, 86, of Scotch Plains, died on Sunday, March 21, 1999 in Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center in Plainfield.
Born in Carteret, he had lived in Colonia for 36 years and Florida for 13 before moving to Scotch Plains three years ago.
Mr. Orban was an electrical maintenance supervisor for General Motors in Linden for 35 years before retiring in 1973.
He was a member of the Rahway Lafayette Lodge No. 72 of the Free and Accepted Masons.
He was active with the First Baptist Church of Rahway, where he was a life deacon, a member of the choir and a trustee.
He was a United States Navy veteran of World War II.
Surviving are a son, Joseph N. Orban; a daughter, Carol S. Orban Scrudato; two brothers, John Orban and Geza Orban; five sisters, Mary Csete, Rose Mahl, Betty Hayden, Ruth Cziraky and Helen Macalik; five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, March 24 at the Lehrer-Gibilisco Funeral Home in Rahway.

Robert Hueston, 74
Seton Hall Graduate; Practiced Law in Elizabeth for 48 Years
Robert Hueston, 74, of Westfield died on Wednesday, March 17, 1999 in Overlook Hospital in Summit.
Born in Elizabeth, he had lived in Cranford before moving to Westfield 37 years ago.
Mr. Hueston maintained a law practice in Elizabeth for 48 years.
He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Seton Hall University in South Orange in 1950, and a law degree from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. in 1953.
He was a Captain in the United States Army Air Force during World War II.
Mr. Hueston was a member of the Union County, New Jersey and American Bar Associations.
Surviving are his wife, Emily Hueston; two sons, Jeffrey T. Hueston and Stuart D. Hueston; two sisters, Betty Ann Penny and Eleanor Partee, and a grandchild.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 20, in the Higgins and Bonner Echo Lake Funeral Home in Westfield.
