Charles G. Lamb, 87
Space Engineer For NASA; Former Scoutmaster
Charles G. Lamb, 87, of Scotch Plains died on Thursday, September 16, 1999 at HCR Manor Care in Mountainside.
Born in Summit, he settled in Scotch Plains in 1955.
Mr. Lamb had been employed by Tenney Engineering of Union for 36 years before retiring in 1989.
While employed at Tenney, he designed space simulation chambers for the testing of NASA’s Mercury capsules and spent a year in Italy designing space simulation chambers for testing the Italian San Marcos Satellites.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Newark College of Engineering in 1953.
Mr. Lamb was a member of Local No. 20 Sheet Metal Union and the Ship Builders Union, both of Kearny.
He was also Scoutmaster of Troop No. 37 of Scotch Plains.
He was a communicant of St. Bartholomew the Apostle Roman Catholic Church in Scotch Plains.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Robert Lamb and Vincent Lamb, and a sister, Gertrude Walker.
Surviving are his wife, Katherine A. Sinko Lamb; a son, Charles P. Lamb of California; a brother, John Lamb of Florida, and a sister, Sylvia Griffin of Maryland.
Funeral services were held on Monday, September 20, at the Rossi Funeral Home in Scotch Plains, followed by a Mass at St. Bartholomew the Apostle Church.
Claire Pollack, 77
Claire Pollack, 77, of Mountainside died on Thursday, September 16, 1999 in Overlook Hospital in Summit.
Born in Brooklyn, she had lived in Cranford before moving to Mountainside 26 years ago.
Mrs. Pollack was a member of B’nai B’rith, Hadassah and the Jewish Federation, all in Union County.
Surviving are a son, Steven Pollack, and a brother, Elliot I. Greenberg.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, September 19, at Menorah Chapels at Millburn in Union.
Louis Johansen, 83
Tugboat Engineer; Former Member of Westfield Glee Club
Louis J. Johansen, 83, of West Orange died on Thursday, September 16, 1999 in St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston.
Born in Hoboken, he had lived in Westfield and on Staten Island before moving to West Orange 21 years ago.
Mr. Johansen had been a tugboat marine engineer with the Brooklyn Eastern District Terminal for 11 years before retiring in 1981.
He was a member of the Westfield Glee Club, and was also active with the Pro Arte Chorale in Plainfield, the Livingston Presbyterian Church Choir and the Berkshire Choral Institute in Sheffield, Mass.
He was also a member of Masonic Lodge No. 912 in Great Kills, N.Y.
Surviving are his wife, Alice Johansen; a son, Louis H. Johansen; a daughter, Ellen Archer; a stepson, Kurt Spitzner; a stepdaughter, Kari Wilkinson; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held on Tuesday, September 21, in the Presbyterian Church of Livingston.
Arrangements were handled by the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home of Livingston.
Frank J. Colello, Sr., 74
Frank J. Colello, Sr., 74, of Scotch Plains died on Sunday, September 19, 1999 at home.
Born in Westfield, he lived in Cranford before moving to Scotch Plains two months ago.
Mr. Colello was a plumber with Plumbers Union Local No. 14, Lodi and Jersey City, for 40 years before retiring in 1990.
Surviving are his daughter, Ellen Ushay; five sons, John Colello, Frank Colello, Jr., David Colello, Joseph Colello and Steven Colello; a sister, Dorothy Fabiano; a brother, Robert Colello and five grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be held today, Thursday, September 23, at 9:30 a.m. in St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church in Cranford.
Arrangements were handled by the Dooley Funeral Home, 218 North Avenue, Cranford.
Ann R. Lombardi, 85
Ann R. Lombardi, 85, of Scotch Plains died Sunday, September 19, 1999 in Westfield.
Born and raised in Elizabeth, she lived in Scotch Plains and Metuchen before returning to Scotch Plains in 1979.
Mrs. Lombardi was a longtime member of the Meridian Club, a Senior Citizens Club in Scotch Plains, and served as the club’s Treasurer for the past five years.
She was also a communicant of St. Bartholomew the Apostle Roman Catholic Church in Scotch Plains.
She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph R. Lombardi, in 1974.
Surviving are two daughters, Karen Stefanowicz of Rahway and Janet Gavan of Scotch Plains; two sisters, Irene Piegaro of Iselin and Margaret Arnold of Roselle Park; five grandchildren, and a great-grandson.
The funeral will be held at the Memorial Funeral Home, 155 South Avenue, Fanwood, today, Thursday, September 23, at 9 a.m.
A Funeral Mass will follow at 10 a.m. at St. Bartholomew Church, Westfield Avenue, Scotch Plains.
Entombment will follow at Hollywood Memorial Park in Union.

Memorial Service Set For Dorothy Richards
Dorothy E. Richards of Los Angeles, Calif., died on Tuesday, July 27, 1999 in St. Vincent’s Hospital in Los Angeles.
Born in Belleville, she had lived in Westfield before moving to Los Angeles 41 years ago.
Mrs. Richards was an executive secretary at Mobil Oil in California before retiring 15 years ago.
Prior to that, she had worked at Prudential and Hess Oil in Newark.
A Memorial Service is scheduled for Friday, October 8, at 11 a.m. in Restland Memorial Park in Hanover.
John J. Dembrauskas, 58
Plant Manager At North Carolina Pharmaceutical Firm
John Joseph Dembrauskas, 58, of Huntersville, N.C., died on Monday, September 20, 1999 in North Carolina.
Born in Elizabeth, he resided in Edison and South Plainfield for 20 years before moving to Huntersville, N.C. this year.
Mr. Dembrauskas was employed by Singer, Houghbigant and Private Formulations of Piscataway, before relocating to Huntersville, where he was a plant manager for Vintage Pharmaceuticals in Charlotte, N.C.
He graduated in 1963 from St. Francis College in Loretto, Pa.
Later, he earned a Master’s of Business Administration Degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
He was predeceased by his father, John Dembrauskas, and his mother, Marie Kushner Dembrauskas.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Ann Mack Dembrauskas; a son, John W. Dembrauskas of Orlando, Fla.; a daughter, Christine Dembrauskas of Clifton and a sister, Barbara Mrozek of Scotch Plains.
A Funeral Service will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, September 25, in the McCriskin Home for Funerals in South Plainfield.
A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in South Plainfield.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow, Friday, September 24, at the funeral home.

Josephine Donatiello, 92
Josephine Donatiello, 92, of Mountainside died on Tuesday, September 21, 1999 in Manor Care Center in Mountainside.
Born in Italy, she lived in Union for many years before moving to Mountainside.
Surviving are two daughters, Phyllis Dolin and Elizabeth Pulio; six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
A Mass will be offered at 9:15 a.m. tomorrow, Friday, September 24, in St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church in Union following the funeral from the McCracken Funeral Home in Union.
