Elizabeth Ann Dunn, 61, of Brielle died on Wednesday, March 10, 1999 at home.
Born in Dickson, Pennsylvania, she had lived in North Plainfield, Scotch Plains and Gillette before moving to Brielle 25 years ago.
A registered nurse, Mrs. Dunn was employed as a school nurse at St. Peter’s Grammar School in Point Pleasant Beach for 10 years.
She had previously worked as a nurse for the Ocean Pediatric Group in Brielle.
She graduated from the East Orange School of Nursing.
Surviving are her husband, Gerard J. Dunn, Sr.; two sons, Gerard Dunn, Jr. and Brian J. Dunn, Sr.; a daughter, Maura L. Dunn; a brother, Thomas Bright; two sisters, Joan Jarvis and Mary Giejda, and five grandchildren.
A Mass was offered on Saturday, March 13, in St. Denis Church in Manasquan, following the funeral from the O’Brien Funeral Home in Brick.
Dr. William Young, 60
Clinical Manager For Hoechst Roussel Vet in Warren
Dr. William B. Young, 60, of New Hope, Pennsylvania died on Saturday, March 13, 1999 in the Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia.
Born in Dumbarton, Scotland, he had lived in London, in Scotch Plains, and in Nova Scotia, Canada before moving to New Hope in 1997.
Dr. Young was the senior clinical development manager for Hoechst Roussel Vet in Warren since 1997.
He had previously worked in clinical research for Eli-Lilly’s Elanco Division in Toronto, Canada, as well as for Schering-Plough of Kenilworth.
While living in Nova Scotia and in London, Ontario, he maintained a private veterinary practice.
He was a member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, the Canadian Veterinary Medical Associations and the British Veterinary Association.
Dr. Young was a 1957 graduate of Dumbarton Academy in Dumbarton, Scotland, and a 1963 graduate of Glasgow University in Glasgow, Scotland.
Surviving are his wife, Marie E. Young; four sons, Thomas B. Young, Charles E. Young, William J. Young and James D. Young; a sister, Margaret Graham, and two grandchildren.
A Mass will be offered today, Thursday, March 18, at 11 a.m. in St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Newtown, Pennsylvania.
Arrangements are being handled by the Joseph A. Fluehr, 3rd Funeral Home in Richboro, Pennsylvania.
Vera Rubine
Was Active in Hadassah; Coordinated Youth Agency Services
Vera Rubine of Westfield died on Monday, March 15, 1999 at home.
Born in Sanford, North Carolina, she had lived in Bayonne and in Cranford before moving to Westfield 25 years ago.
Mrs. Rubine had been employed by the Jersey City office of the New Jersey State Board of Children’s Guardians, now the Division of Youth and Family Services, before retiring many years ago. During her career there, she coordinated agency services and oversaw volunteer scheduling.
She served on the board of the Jewish Family Services in Elizabeth.
Mrs. Rubine also was a life member of the Hadassah of Cranford-Roselle, and a member of the Sisterhood of Temple Emanu-El in Westfield and Temple Beth-El in Cranford.
She edited the newsletter for Temple Beth-El and served as a troop leader for Troop No. 1 of the Girl Scouts and Brownies of Washington Rock Girl Scout Council for 10 years.
She earned a degree in political science from Douglass College in New Brunswick.
Surviving are her husband, George Rubine; a son, Allen Rubine of Cranston, Rhode Island; a daughter, Marcia Masten of New York City, and five grandchildren.
Funeral services were held yesterday, Wednesday, March 17, in Temple Emanu-El.
Arrangements were handled by the Menorah Chapels at Millburn in Union.

Lucy DeAndrea, 92
Rehabilitated Homes in Freehold and Plainfield
Lucy Tumolo DeAndrea, 92, died on Sunday, March 14, 1999 at the McCarrick Care Center in Franklin.
Born in Philadelphia, she was raised in Long Valley and had lived in Plainfield for 53 years.
She had also lived in Toms River for 14 years before moving to Franklin in 1992.
Mrs. DeAndrea had been a secretary for the Plainfield Dress Company.
She and her late husband, Peter Andrea, also bought and rehabilitated homes in Plainfield and Freehold, which they then sold or rented.
She was a member of St. Justin’s Roman Catholic Church in Toms River and its Rotary Society, and was a former member of St. Bernard’s Roman Catholic Church in Plainfield. She was also a member of the Toms River Senior Citizens.
Mrs. DeAndrea was a graduate of Drake’s Business School.
She was predeceased by her husband in 1987, by her son, Francis R. DeAndrea, in 1985, and by her daughter, Josephine Panetti, in 1976.
Surviving are a daughter, Eleanor Gordon of Somerset; five brothers, Louis Tumolo of Lavallette, Anthony Tumolo of Scotch Plains, Germano “Gerry” Tumolo of West Virginia, James Tumolo of Warren and Alfred Tumolo of Flemington; two sisters, Adaline Tumolo of Scotch Plains and Josephine Furey of Toms River; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held today, Thursday, March 18, at 9 a.m. in the Scarpa Funeral Home in North Plainfield, followed by a Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Bernard’s Church.

Evelyn G. Anderson, 88
Secretary At Fanwood Presbyterian Church
Evelyn G. Anderson, 88, of Fanwood died on Monday, March 15, 1999 in Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center in Plainfield.
Born in Jersey City, she had lived in Mountainside before moving to Fanwood in 1948.
Mrs. Anderson had been a secretary from 1956 to 1997 at the Fanwood Presbyterian Church, where she was also a member and a Sunday School teacher.
She had previously worked for Bell Labs in Murray Hill.
She was a member of Daughters of America, Patriotic Council No. 34.
She was predeceased by her husband, Oscar E. Anderson, in 1966.
Surviving are a son, the Reverend Robert Edward Anderson of Reynolds, Illinois, and a daughter, Dorothea Arrowsmith of Scotch Plains.
Funeral services will be held today, Thursday, March 18, at 7 p.m. in the Fanwood Presbyterian Church. There will be no visitation.

Mildred Raffelt, 74
First Woman Editor Of Newspapers in Middlesex County
Mildred Raffelt, 74, of Bound Brook died on Thursday, May 27, 1999 at Integrated Health Services in Bridgewater.
Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, she had lived in Bound Brook since 1965.
Mrs. Raffelt was appointed the first woman editor of the Bound Brook Chronicle and the Middlesex Chronicle in 1973 and remained in the post until retirement in 1988.
Since then she served as executive director of the Bound Brook Area Chamber of Commerce.
She graduated from Keystone Junior College in LaPlume, Pennsylvania, and had attended Pennsylvania State University in State College, Pennsylvania.
She was a member of the Bound Brook Seniors and a charter member of the Middle-Brook Business and Professional Woman’s Club that named her Woman of the Year in 1974.
She also was a former member of the Jointure for Community Adult Education Advisory Committee, Bound Brook Youth Services Coordinating Committee and Union Carbide Senior Citizen Advisory Panel.
She was a communicant of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Bound Brook.
She was predeceased by her husband, Edward J. Raffelt, in 1967.
Surviving are her daughter, Karen Leister of High Bridge; two sons, James E. Raffelt of Waldrof, Maryland and Thomas M. Raffelt of Marlborough, New Hampshire; a sister, Lorraine Combs of Dry Ridge, Kentucky; a brother, Richard J. Stravach of Westfield, and five grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass was held on Monday, May 31, at St. Joseph’s Church in Bound Brook.
Arrangements were handled by the Conroy Funeral Home in Bound Brook.
Helen Wright, 78
Was Nursing Assistant At Ashbrook Nursing Home, Duty Nurse
Helen Wright, 78, of Plainfield died on Tuesday, May 25, 1999 in Morristown Memorial Hospital in Morristown.
Born in Hazelhurst, Mississippi she had lived in Westfield for 26 years before moving to Plainfield 45 years ago.
Mrs. Wright was employed for 15 years as a nursing assistant at Ashbrook Nursing Home in Scotch Plains and as a private duty nurse for various families in the Westfield area.
She was a member of Covenant United Methodist Church in Plainfield for 20 years, where she had served on the Hospitality Committee, Hope Circle, Nominating Committee, United Methodist Women and assisted with the free meals program.
She was a former member of Saint Luke African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church in Westfield.
She was predeceased by her husband, William A. Wright, in 1977.
Surviving are three daughters, Dorothy Anderson of Jetersville, Virginia, Linda Wright of Lynchburg, Virginia, and Debra Billups of Plainfield; two sons, Edward G. “Hugo” Robinson of Plainfield and Russell Robinson of Newburgh, New York; a sister, Dorothy Johnson of Raleigh, North Carolina; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A funeral service was held on Saturday, May 29, in Covenant United Methodist Church in Plainfield.
Interment was held at Fairview Cemetery.
Arrangements were handled by Brown’s Funeral Home in Plainfield.
Ralph J. Tozzi, 51
Was Postal Clerk In Warren; Former Dance Instructor
Ralph J. Tozzi, 51, of Woodbridge died on Tuesday, May 25, 1999 in Rahway Hospital.
Born in Plainfield, he had lived in North Plainfield for many years before moving to Woodbridge 10 years ago.
Mr. Tozzi was employed for five years as a postal clerk with the Warren Township Post Office.
Previously, he was employed as a postal clerk for the Plainfield Post Office for27years.
He was a longtime member and performer at the “Plays in the Park” at Roosevelt Park in Edison, a longtime student at Verne Fowler Dance Studio in Woodbridge, participating in the Christmas Production of the Nutcracker.
He taught ballroom dancing at Fred Astaire Dance Studio in North Plainfield for several years and volunteered at John F. Kennedy Medical Center Rehab in Edison.
Surviving are two sisters, Joan Falloon of Scotch Plains and Judy Waterstraw of Point Pleasant; and two nephews, Steve Falloon of Peekskill, New York and Mark Falloon of Germany, formerly of Randolph.
A Funeral Mass was held on Saturday, May 29, at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in North Plainfield.
Interment was private.
Arrangements were handled by the Higgins Home for Funerals in North Plainfield.
