Annie N. Logie, 91
Annie N. Napier Logie, 91, of Westfield died on Wednesday, September 27, 2000 at Runnells Specialized Hospital of Union County in Berkeley Heights.
Born in Kerrimuir, Scotland, she moved to Portsmouth, R. I., where she lived until relocating to Westfield in 1933.
Mrs. Logie was a member of the Garwood Presbyterian Church, where she was a teacher in the Sunday School program.
She was also a member of the church’s Ladies Aid Society.
She was also a child care specialist for many Westfield area residents and physicians.
A funeral service was held on Saturday, September 30, at the Garwood Presbyterian Church.
Interment took place at Hollywood Memorial Park in Union.

John J. Kreger, Sr., 80
Former Marine; Awarded Purple Heart in World War II
John J. Kreger, Sr., 80, of Scotch Plains died on Sunday, October 1, 2000 in the Plainfield home of his sister, Jean Youngman.
Born and raised in Plainfield, he had lived in East Orange before relocating to Scotch Plains 47 years ago.
Mr. Kreger had been a truck driver for the Ballantine Brewery in New ark for 22 years before retiring.
He was a Corporal with the First Fleet Division of the United States Marine Corps during World War II.
Wounded at Guadalcanal, Mr. Kreger received the Purple Heart.
Surviving, in addition to his sister, are his wife, Eileen Kreger; a daughter, Karen DeSagun; a son, John Kreger, Jr.; three brothers, J. Frank Kreger, William N. Kreger and Robert W. Kreger, and five grandchildren.
Services were held on Tuesday, October 3, in the James W. Conroy Funeral Home in South Plainfield.
Norman Syvertsen, 74
Retired as Manager At New York Telephone After 43 Years
Norman J. Syvertsen, 74, of Scotch Plains died on Wednesday, September 27, 2000 at home.
Born in Staten Island, he had lived in Iselin and Fanwood before moving to Scotch Plains in 1966.
Mr. Syvertsen had been employed by New York Telephone for 43 years before retiring in 1989 as a division manager.
He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers Inc., both of New York City.
He served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II.
Mr. Syvertsen attended Michigan State College for Army Air Corps training.
He was a member of Elks Lodge No. 2370 in East Brunswick.
Surviving are his wife, Gertrude A. Syvertsen; a daughter, Ann Eisenhut; three sons, Roy Syvertsen, Norman Syvertsen and Allan Syvertsen; two sisters, Irma Uhler and June Burton; a brother, Earl Syvertsen, and three grandchildren.
Services were held on Saturday, September 30, in the Rossi Funeral Home in Scotch Plains.
Larry Yanick, 48
Was Director Of Allergy Dept. for Medical Group
Larry Yanick, 48, of Colonia died on Sunday, September 17, 2000 at Overlook Hospital in Summit.
Born in Plainfield, he had lived in Edison for many years before relocating to Colonia 18 years ago.
Mr. Yanick was Director of the Allergy Department for several physicians at the Westfield Ear, Nose and Throat Surgical Association and was an allergy technician for doctors in South Plainfield, Red Bank, Roselle Park, Bayonne and Somerville.
He graduated from Middlesex County Community College in 1972 and from City University of New York in 1976 with a Bachelor of Science Degree as a physician’s assistant.
He also graduated from Union County College as a licensed practical nurse in 1991.
In 1998, he graduated from the Capital University of Internal Medicine in Washington, D. C. as a Doctor of Integrative Medicine.
Surviving are his wife, Bonnie Baka Yanick; a son, Stephen Lawrence Yanick of Colonia; his parents, Paul and Angelina Scarpelli Yanick of Edison, and two brothers, Paul Yanick, Jr. of Saugerties, N. Y. and Frank Yanick of Edison.
The funeral took place on Thursday, September 21, at the Higgins and Bonner Echo Lake Funeral Home in Westfield, followed by a funeral at Saint Helena’s Roman Catholic Church in Edison.
Interment was at St. Gertrude’s Cemetery in Colonia.
Thomas R. Trimble, 76
Thomas R. Trimble, 76, of Westfield died on Wednesday, September 27, 2000 at Overlook Hospital in Summit.
Born and raised in Elizabeth, he lived in Westfield for 34 years.
Mr. Trimble had been a construction manager for Public Service Electric and Gas in Newark for 39 years, retiring in 1988.
He was a United States Navy veteran of World War II. He graduated from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pa., in 1947 with a degree in electrical engineering.
Surviving are his wife, Nancy Costello Trimble, and a son, Thomas R. Trimble, Jr. of Carlsbad, Calif.
Services were held on Saturday, September 30, at the Dooley Colonial Home, 556 Westfield Avenue in Westfield.
Interment was at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield.

John R. Pirolozzi, 86
John R. Pirolozzi, 86, of Hillsborough died on Thursday, September 28, 2000 in the Somerset Medical Center in Somerville.
Born in Italy, he had lived in Staten Island, Plainfield and Scotch Plains before moving to Hillsborough last year.
Mr. Pirolozzi had been a supervisor with the Public Works Department in Scotch Plains for more than 30 years before retiring in 1976.
He had previously worked for the Ford Motor Company in Englewood.
He was a member of the Musicians Union Local No. 647; Elks Lodge No. 1585 in Mountainside and the Catholic Golden Age Club, the Senior Citizens Club and Father John S. Nelligan Council No. 5730 of the Knights of Columbus, all in Scotch Plains.
Surviving are a daughter, Madeline Janssen; two brothers, Leonard Pirolozzi and Joseph Pirolozzi; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A Mass was offered on Tuesday, October 3, in St. Bartholomew the Apostle Roman Catholic Church in Scotch Plains, after the funeral from the Rossi Funeral Home in Scotch Plains.
Eva McIntyre, 86
Sales and Service Clerk For Local Family Business For 52 Years
Eva Homyock McIntyre, 86, of Westfield died on Tuesday, October 3, 2000 at home.
Born in Wilkes Barre, Pa., she had lived in Garwood before moving to Westfield 68 years ago.
Mrs. McIntyre had worked as a sales and service clerk for the family business, McIntyre Lawnmower and Locksmiths in Westfield, for 52 years before retiring in 1984.
She was predeceased by her husband, George McIntyre, in 1974.
Surviving are a son, Ron McIntyre of Mountainside; two daughters, Loretta Lazo of Delray Beach, Fla. and Dolores Driscoll of Scottsdale, Ariz.; two brothers, Andrew Homack of Sarasota, Fla. and Peter Homyock of Cliffwood Beach; a sister, Frances Duda of Linden; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held tomorrow, Friday, October 6, at 4 p.m. at the Gray Funeral Home, 318 East Broad Street in Westfield.
Visitation will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Cremation will be private.

Mary M. Godfrey, 87
Mary M. Godfrey, 87, of Westfield died on Sunday, September 17, 2000 at The Woodlands Nursing Home in Plainfield.
Born in Scotch Plains, she grew up in Plainfield and moved to Westfield in the 1950s.
Mrs. Godfrey had been employed as an office worker with Howell Electric in Plainfield before she retired.
She was predeceased by her husband, Paul Godfrey.
Surviving is a sister, Anna “Sally” Pfeiffer of North Plainfield.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow, Friday, October 6, at the Gray Funeral Home, 318 East Broad Street in Westfield.
