MARY M. SCALA, 87, of Long Branch died Jan. 23 at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Born in Bayonne, she lived in Oceanport and Long Branch since 1970. She was predeceased by her husband, Gerard Scala in 1977. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Gerard B. and Marianne Scala of Long Branch; and five grandchildren, Daenna, Jonathan, Gabrielle, Kristan and Gregory. A funeral liturgy was offered at the Church of the Precious Blood Roman Catholic Church, Monmouth Beach. Interment was at Woodbine Cemetery, Long Branch.
ROSALIE F. WHITE, 61, of Long Branch died Jan. 25 at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Born in Oceanside, N.Y., she lived in Lake Huntington, N.Y., prior to moving to Eatontown. She is survived by her daughter, Allison White of Eatontown; and two brothers, Ralph Eovino of Oceanside, and Frank Eovino of Louisville, Ky. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. Burial was at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Keyport.
ANTHONY T. MAGARINO, 69, of Ocean Township died Jan. 15 at the Center for Hospice Care, Long Branch. Born in Long Branch, he resided in West Long Branch prior to moving to Ocean Township in 2001. He was the owner and operator of High Spot Barber Shop, Long Branch, for 38 years. He was a communicant of St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, Long Branch. He served with the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He is survived by his wife, Carol Carelli Magarino of Ocean Township; three brothers, William Sr. of Red Bank, and Sam and Robert, both of Sparta; his sister, Josephine Chevalier of Long Branch; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, Long Branch. Interment was at Woodbine Cemetery, Oceanport.
DOROTHY M. KEMPROWSKI MEYERS, 61, of Belmar died Feb. 2 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Jersey City, she resided there until moving to Belmar three years ago. She was a cashier for Kmart, Wall Township, for one year. Prior to that, she was a custodian for the Jersey City Board of Education for 25 years, retiring 10 years ago. She was predeceased by her daughter, Elizabeth Ann Meyers, and her son-in-law, Robert O’Callahan. She is survived by her former husband, Joseph Meyers; her daughter, Catherine O’Callahan of Roselle Park; seven sons and four daughters-in-law, Joseph Meyers of Neptune City, Charles and Karen Meyers of Keansburg, Michael and Stella Meyers of Toms River, Keith Meyers of Ocean Grove, Kevin and Crystal Meyers of Jersey City, Mark and Ann Marie Meyers of Bayonne, and Shawn Meyers of Jersey City; two brothers, Frank Kemprowski of Red Bank, and John Kemprowski of Elberon; a sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Jim Mack of Long Branch; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral liturgy was held at St. Rose’s Roman Catholic Church, Belmar. Interment was at Bay View Cemetery, Leonardo section of Middletown. MARIE G. MANTOVANO, 86, of Oceanport died Feb. 3 at home. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she resided in Eatontown prior to moving to Oceanport 20 years ago. She was a homemaker and was devoted to her family. She was a volunteer at Deborah Hospital, and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 103 Ladies Auxiliary, N.Y. She was predeceased by her husband, Louis F. Mantovano in 1967. She is survived by her daughter, Carol Patock of Oceanport; her brother, Alphonse Libasci of York, Pa.; two sisters, Eleanor Royere of Oceanside, N.Y., and Anne Tang of Inverness, Fla.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Dorothea’s Roman Catholic Church, Eatontown. Interment was at Woodbine Cemetery, Oceanport. KEVIN P. LOUGHLIN, 49, of Long Branch died Feb. 5 at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune. Born in Rome, N.Y., he lived 20 years in Laurence Harbor prior to moving to Long Branch. He was a mold master for Joe K’s Inc., Keyport, for 20 years. He served with the U.S. Army from 1972-74. He is survived by his wife, "Terri" Kassay Walsh of Long Branch; his parents William and Rachel "Chickie" Loughlin; his son, Martin Walsh of Laurence Harbor; two brothers, Bill Loughlin of Boston, Mass., and Mark Loughlin of Manasquan; his sister, Kathleen Petzold of Sea Girt; and two nephews, Michael Loughlin and James Loughlin. Burial was at General William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Arnytown.
HERBERT M. DIETRICH, 87, of Keyport died Feb. 9 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. He was a lifelong Keyport resident. He was a machinist for Hansen, Van Winkle & Munning, Matawan, for 33 years, retiring in 1979. He was a member of Engine Company No. 1, Keyport; as well as the One Man Gun Club, Forked River, Lacey Township. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Virginia M. Derby Dietrich of Keyport; three sons and one daughter-in-law, Herbert C. and Muriel Dietrich Jr. of Hazlet, Gary B. Dietrich of West Long Branch, and Kenneth Dietrich of Aberdeen; his daughter, Peggy Ann Colton of Northport, Fla.; two sisters, Marge Boyce of Holmdel, and Dorothy Peoples of Matawan; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren. Interment was at Shoreland Memorial Gardens, Hazlet.
DAVID CHRISTOPHER VAN DUSEN, 41, of the Leonardo section of Middletown died Feb. 12 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Long Branch, he was a lifelong resident of Leonardo. He was a self-employed tile contractor. He is survived by his father, David F. Van Dusen of the Belford section of Middletown; his daughter, Tiffany Van Dusen of Leonardo; his ex-wife, Diane Farrell of Leonardo; his sister, Judy Ott of Mystic Islands; and his brother, Gerald Van Dusen of Belford. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown.
