JANE NAYLOR SAUER, 75, of Charlotte, N.C., and formerly Long Branch, died June 6. Born in New York City, she resided in Long Branch most of her life before moving to Charlotte in 1991. She was a former member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, Long Branch. She was predeceased by her husband, Winfield Sauer. She is survived by two daughters, Susan McKillop of Charlotte, and Lynda Keevil of Martinez, Ga.; two grandsons; and two great-grandsons. BARBARA K. BUTASH, 56, of Manalapan died June 6 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Scranton, Pa., she lived in Brooklyn, N.Y., before moving to Manalapan 30 years ago. She was a communicant of St. Thomas More Roman Catholic Church, Manalapan. She is survived by her husband, Stephen; a son and daughter-in-law, Brad and Andrea of Aberdeen; a daughter, Anisa Butash of Tinton Falls; and a twin brother, E. John Fedor of York, Pa. The funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Thomas More Church, followed by interment at Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent section of Manalapan. ADELAIDE R. MOLINARI TOMASELLO, 74, of Matawan died June 8 at University Hospital of Newark. Born in Newark, she resided there until moving to Matawan 54 years ago. She was a homemaker. She was a communicant of and member of the Altar & Rosary Society and Catholic Daughters at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. She was also a member of St. Clement’s Seniors, Matawan, and the Minisink Social Club. She was predeceased by a brother, Joseph Molinari. She is survived by her husband, Victor Tomasello Sr. of Matawan; two sons, Victor Tomasello Jr. of Matawan, and Stephen Tomasello of Shrewsbury; her daughter, Lynn Martin of Matawan; her sister, Janet Roberts of Aberdeen; two brothers, John Molinari of Toms River, and Anthony Molinari of Kearny; and six grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated June 13 at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. Interment will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Keyport.
MARGARET MEDOLLA, 87, of Brick died June 21 at Brick Hospital. Born in Centerville, she resided in Keyport prior to moving to Brick seven years ago. She was a seamstress at Komars Inc., Keansburg, for 33 years, retiring in 1986. She was a communicant of and member of the Altar Rosary Society at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph Medolla in 1982; her son, Robert Medolla in 1962; and two brothers, John and Jerry Nappi. She is survived by four sons, Ralph Medolla of Houston; Niel Medolla of Mays Landing; John Medolla of Toronto; and Jerry Medolla of Brick; three brothers, Anthony Nappi of Manchester, Michael Nappi of Tinton Falls, and Anniello Nappi of Whiting; her sister, Immaculate Ziegler of Keyport; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Interment was at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Keyport.
MARY A. CONTE, 84, of Oceanport died June 30 at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Born in Youngstown, Ohio, she lived in Long Branch before moving to Oceanport 57 years ago. She was co-owner of Conte’s Car Wash, Long Branch, where she worked for the past 40 years. She was also co-owner of four other local car washes, and previous owner of Conte’s Market, Long Branch. She was a parishioner of St. Dorothea’s Roman Catholic Church, Eatontown. She was predeceased by her son, Louis P. Conte Sr., on June 9; two sisters, Rose DeLuca and Antoinette Catalano; and a brother, Nicholas Cammarano. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Louis R. Conte of Oceanport; two sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph J. and Rosemary Conte of Oceanport, and Michael J. and Janice Conte of Long Branch; her daughter-in-law, Patricia S. Conte of Oceanport; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Dorothea’s Roman Catholic Church, Eatontown. Entombment was at Woodbine Mausoleum, Oceanport. Memorial donations may be made to the Oceanport First Aid Squad, 2 Pemberton Ave., Oceanport 07757.
RETIRED COLONEL LOUIS W. PFLANZ JR., 88, of Sierra Vista, Ariz., and formerly Eatontown, died June 30. Born in New York, he was a resident of Sierra Vista the past 20 years. He was chief of electronics warfare intelligence and atmospheric sciences at the Electronics Command, Fort Monmouth, retiring in 1969. Prior to that, he served as chief signal officer of the Central Treaty Organization, Ankara, Turkey, for two years. He was also director of research for the Defense Atomic Support Agency in 1960, and liaisoned for five years with the Los Alamos, New Mexico, and Livermore Nuclear Laboratories. Prior to that, he served as a signal officer and commander of signal officers in Korea. He received several awards, decorations and medals during his military career, the most coveted being the Korean Chungmu with Gold Star, the highest peacetime award given to an allied officer. He served with the U.S. Army and was ordered to active duty prior to Pearl Harbor. He is survived by his wife, Gloria Pflanz; two daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy R. Pflanz and Aaron Parr, and Pamela G. and Michael Billingsley; his son and daughter-in-law, David and Peggy Pflanz; two stepchildren; and three grandchildren. Burial was at Monmouth Memorial Park Cemetery, Tinton Falls. Memorial donations may be made to the Sierra Vista Animal Shelter, 1124 North Ave., Sierra Vista, AZ 85635.
EMMA SEAMAN CLARK, 92, of Brick and formerly Long Branch, died May 8 at Meridian Care Center, Brick. Born in Irvington, she lived in Freehold and Long Branch prior to moving to Brick. She was an inspector for Electronics Associated Incorporated, Long Branch, retiring in 1974. Prior to that job, she was a registered nurse for a short time. She was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, William J. Clark in 1991; and her son, William Clark Jr. in 1939. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ronald W. and Patricia Clark of Kansas City, Mo.; her daughter, Carol Hayes of Brick; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Interment was at Woodbine Cemetery, Oceanport.
