CHARLES J. RESCH SR., 86, of Eatontown died Aug. 17 in Columbus, Ohio. Born in Jersey City, he resided in Eatontown for the past 47 years. He was a retired director at the Eatontown Sewer Authority for several years. Prior to that, he was a project coordinator at AT&T, Newark, for 44 years. He was a communicant of St. Dorothea’s Roman Catholic Church, Eatontown. He was a member of the Eatontown Democratic Club; the Elks Lodge, Eatontown; and The Telephone Pioneers of America. He was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy Bott Resch. He is survived by two sons, Charles J. Resch Jr. of Tinton Falls, and Kerin Resch of Rockland, Maine; two daughters, Judith Spicer, and Carol E. Thompson, both of Columbus; a sister, Mary Resch of Eatontown; and 13 grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Dorothea’s Roman Catholic Church. DENISE B. KNIGHT TOMAN, 41, of Brick and formerly Red Bank, died Aug. 16. She was born in Red Bank. She was a phlebotomist at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. She was predeceased by her sister, Deborah Knight Faller. She is survived by her husband and daughter, Glen Toman, and Katelynn Deborah Toman, both of Brick; her parents, Peter and Bernadine Knight of Red Bank; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Donna Knight of Manchester, and Doreen and Gregg Scott of Shark River; and several nieces and nephews. JOHN McKAY, 74, of the Port Monmouth section of Middletown died Aug. 16 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Port Monmouth, he was a lifelong resident. He worked as a custodian for the Middletown Board of Education for 30 years, retiring in 1991. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a former member of the Port Monmouth First Aid Squad. He was predeceased by a son, John F. McKay Jr., in 1957. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Betty Stevenson McKay of Port Monmouth; two daughters, MaryAnn McKay of Port Monmouth, and Patricia Sak of Keansburg; two sons, James F. McKay and Robert J. McKay, both of Port Monmouth; two brothers, Robert McKay of Orlando, Fla., and Joseph McKay of Deland, Fla.; two sisters, Margaret Gillette of Whiting, and Eileen Stevenson of Keansburg; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandson. Entombment was at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.
LAURICE A. FITZGERALD, 77, of Little Silver died Aug. 19 at home. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she resided in Little Silver since 1956. She worked as a bookkeeper at Red Bank Catholic High School for 20 years. She was an active 45-year parishioner and member of the Rosary Altar Society at St. James Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. Her volunteer activities included the Meals on Wheels program for senior citizens. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Kenneth Fitzgerald of Little Silver; two daughters, Maureen A. Grippen of Little Egg Harbor, and Nancy E. Everett of Purcellville, Va.; four sons, Stephen P. Fitzgerald of Hollywood, Calif., Michael J. Fitzgerald of Hawaii, Brian D. Fitzgerald of Morris Plains, and Gregory J. Fitzgerald of Hewitt; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. James Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. Interment was at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.
AUGUSTINE FALVO, 92, of Long Branch died Sept. 11 at home. Born in Italy, she moved to the United States at 1-month-old and was a lifelong resident of Long Branch. She was a homemaker and worked part time at her family’s shop, the Corner Stork Stop and Children’s Shop, West End section of Long Branch. She was a parishioner of and member of the Altar Rosary Society at St. Jerome’s Roman Catholic Church, West Long Branch. She was predeceased by her husband, Peter Falvo, in 1987. She is survived by two daughters, Jeanette Falvo Marks of West Long Branch, and Virginia "Ginny" Falvo of West End; her brother, Amerigo De Fazio of Fair Haven; three sisters, Antoinette DeFazio, Wilma DeFazio and Rose Johnson, all of Red Bank; and two grandsons. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, Long Branch. Interment was at Woodbine Cemetery, Oceanport.
PATRICIA A. TAYLOR, 66, of Ocean Township died Oct. 21 at home. She resided in Elmwood Park prior to moving to Ocean Township six years ago. She was a homemaker and a volunteer for the Monmouth County ASPCA, Tinton Falls. She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas Taylor, in 1981. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Mary Taylor of Floral City, Fla.; two daughters and one son-in-law, Dawn D’Agostino-Cheski and Ken Cheski of Manalapan, and Barbara Taylor of Whitehouse Station; and four grandchildren.
DORIS McENERNEY POLZER, 84, of Tinton Falls died Oct. 17 at Meridian Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Red Bank. She was born in Staten Island, N.Y. She was a homemaker. She was predeceased by her husband, George Polzer.
