Thomas A. Suszka
Mr. Suszka, 47, of Little Silver, died Aug. 11 at home. Born in Jersey City, he resided there prior to moving to Little Silver eight years ago. He was a community relations coordinator at the NJ Turnpike Authority, New Brunswick. He was a communicant of Church of the Nativity, Fair Haven. He coached recreation baseball, soccer and basketball in Little Silver. He co-authored as well as provided photos for a book on New Jersey Turnpike history. He was predeceased by his parents, Chester and Anna Startek Suszka; and a daughter, Mary Anna Suszka. He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Mary Monaghan Suszka; two sons, Thomas J. and Matthew P.; a daughter, Elise Suszka; a sister and brother-in-law, Wanda and Alfred Maragni of West Orange; his in-laws, Mary and Terence Monaghan; six brothers-in-law; and 20 nieces and nephews. was celebrated at Church of the Nativity. Interment

Nicholas “Nick” J. Sergio
Mr. Sergio, 85, of Oceanport, died Aug. 10 at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Born in Jersey City, he resided in Oceanport the past 34 years. He was an architectural draftsman at Frederick Schill & Company, Edison, for 10 years, retiring in 1985. Prior to that, he was employed at various millwork firms in North Jersey, and designed and built his own home. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a communicant of and member of the choir at St. Dorothea’s Roman Catholic Church, Eatontown. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Asbury Park, and the American Legion, Jersey City. He was also a member of the Art Society of Monmouth County, and 30-year member of the Eatontown Choraliers. He was predeceased by two brothers, Mario and Dominic Sergio. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Caroline Mederer Sergio; a son, Nicholas G. Sergio of Oceanport; three daughters and sons-in-law, Antoinette and Thomas Wilczewski and Marie and Philip Barbera, all of Long Branch, and Santa Sergio DeHaven and her husband Tom of Midlothian, Va.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandson. Matthew “Matty” Joseph Slane
Mr. Slane, 53, of Red Bank, died July 16 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. He resided in Kearny prior to moving to Red Bank six years ago. He was a produce manager at Pathmark, Hazlet, where he was employed the past 10 years. He was an avid Mets fan. He was predeceased by his father, Thomas Slane; and two brothers, Patrick Slane and Thomas Slane. He is survived by his mother, Anne Slane of Red Bank; a daughter, Colleen Slane of Jersey City; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Mary Anne and James Carey of Branchville, Margaret Canessa of Lake Onassa, and Annie and Robert Troy of Middletown; and several nephews. A funeral liturgy was held at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown. Arrangements were by John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown.
Mary Spinelli
Mrs. Spinelli, 87, died July 22 at home. Born in Newark, she had resided in Holmdel and Union before moving to Colts Neck 11 years ago. She was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking. Mrs. Spinelli was predeceased by a brother, Peter, and a grandson, Shawn Venancio. Surviving are her husband of 66 years, Ernest; a son and daughter-in-law, Ernest M. and Nina Spinelli of Millington; a daughter and son-in-law, Lucille and Mario Venancio of Red Bank; a brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Carrie Cocuzza of Middletown; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Barbara Louise Sniffen
Mrs. Sniffen, 76, of Oceanport, died July 22 at St. Barnabas Hospice at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Born in Long Branch, she resided in Middletown for 50 years prior to moving to Oceanport. She was a church organist most of her life at local churches such as Christ Episcopal, Middletown, The First Baptist Church, Long Branch and United Methodist Church, Asbury Park. She was a member of the American Guild of Organists. She raised collies for several years. She was predeceased by her husband, Albert Sniffen in 1988; and a son, Albert Clark Sniffen Jr. in 2004. She is survived by four daughters and three sons-in-law, Patricia and Richard Nicastro of Union Beach, Elizabeth Sniffen of New York City, and Kathryn and Steven Miele of Oceanport, and Donna and Tony Miceli of Riverdale; two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Pamela Sniffen of Oceanport, and Matthew and Carrie Sniffen of West Long Branch; a daughter-in-law, Mary Sniffen of Tinton Falls; and 12 grandchildren. Joseph “Bosco” Fusco Jr.
Mr. Fusco, 71, of Jackson, died July 8 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Jersey City, he had lived in Florida before moving to Jackson 10 years ago. He was a longshoreman for the U.S. Coast Guard, International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) Local No. 1247, Jersey City. Surviving are two brothers, Lawrence Fusco of Georgia and Robert Sinclare of Florida; and a sister, Nancyann Minka of Tinton Falls. Services were held at Michael Hegarty Funeral Home, Old Bridge. Cremation was private.
Angel R. Rivera
Mr. Rivera, 68, of Red Bank, died July 7 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Baceloneta, Puerto Rico, He resided in the Bronx, N.Y., prior to moving to Red Bank in 1998. He was an emergency room/senior housekeeper at various hospitals in the Bronx prior to retirement. Her was a member of Local No. 1199, the Bronx. He enjoyed singing. He was predeceased by a brother, Peter Rivera; and a sister, Ruth Rivera. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Priscilla Maldonado Rivera; three sons, Angelo of Red Bank, David of Mansfield, and Robert of the Bronx, N.Y.; three daughters, Nancy Arnavas of Tinton Falls, Estelle Rivera of Orlando, Fla., and Noemi Class-Rivera of Puerto Rico; three sisters, Nilda Rodriguez, Elba Padin and Sarah Torres; and 12 grandchildren. Robert Emil Klein Sr.
Mr. Klein, 62, of Long Branch, died July 13 at St. Barnabas Hospice, Long Branch. Born in Vicksburg, Miss., he resided in Long Branch for eight years prior to moving to Oceanport. He was a computer engineer at ILEX, Tinton Falls. He served with the U.S. Air Force. He was a member and former financial secretary at Embury United Methodist Church, Little Silver. He was a member of the Long Branch Rotary Club and Lions Club, and former chairperson of the United Methodist’s Church Men’s Club. He enjoyed cooking. He was predeceased by a son, John Richard Klein. He is survived by his fiancée, India Stowe; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert E. and Tina Klein Jr. of Lemoore, Calif.; a brother, Raymond Klein of Missouri; and four grandchildren. A memorial service was held at Embury Church. Arrangements were by John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank. Kathleen S. Ziegler
Mrs. Ziegler, 96, of Tinton Falls, died July 6 at Chelsea at Tinton Falls. Born in Philadelphia, she resided in Interlaken prior to moving to Tinton Falls. She taught at Long Branch High School for 20 years, retiring in 1973. She was a member of the Monmouth County, New Jersey and National Education Associations, and Long Branch School Employees Association. She was predeceased by her husband, Samuel J. Ziegler in 1991; and two brothers, Dr. Paul J. Strassburger and Albert L. Strassburger. She is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Suzan Z. and Lester H. Mathis of Little Silver, and Mary Z. Hill of Tinton Falls; three grandsons; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service was at Christ Church of Shrewsbury, followed by interment at the church cemetery. Arrangements were by John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank.
Patricia Ann Farinella
Mrs. Farinella, 68, of Middletown, died July 8 at her daughter’s Tinton Falls home. Born in Newark, she had resided in Maplewood and Millburn before moving to Middletown 45 years ago. Mrs. Farinella was a homemaker and had been employed at New Jersey Bell Telephone Co., Millburn, for more than 10 yeas. She also worked at National State Bank, Union. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown. Mrs. Farinella is survived by her husband of 45 years, Anthony Farinella; two daughters, Toni Farinella of Berkeley Heights and Jody Farinella of Tinton Falls; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Edward and Domenica Santora of Maplewood, and Richard Santora of Rahway; and three nephews. Gloria Ruth Mainieri Sacco
Mrs. Sacco, 82, of Atlantic Highlands, died June 14 at Care One at King James, Middletown. Born in Cliffside Park, she resided in Fair Haven for 30 years, Tucson and Colts Neck prior to moving to Atlantic Highlands in 1998. She was a homemaker. Prior to that, she was an artist and freelance illustrator for Vogue Magazine, New York City. She served as a Corporal with the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. She was predeceased by her husband of 41 years, Joseph B. Sacco in 1995. She is survived by three sons and one daughter-in-law, Joseph A. and Faye Sacco, Paul Sacco and Roger Sacco, all of Atlantic Highlands; a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Brian Bain of Escondido, Calif.; a sister, Pauline Hawkins of West Milford; and three grandchildren.
