VERONICA J. DOUGHERTY CHOLETTE, 78, of the New Monmouth section of Middletown, died Sept. 25 at home. She was born in Jersey City and resided in New Monmouth for the past 43 years. She was a medical secretary for Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank, for 20 years, retiring in 1988. She was a graduate of Katharine Gibbs secretarial school, New York. She was predeceased by her husband, Edgar L. Cholette, in May. She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Paul E. and Michelle Cholette of Oswego, Ill., Michael and Kathy Cholette of Arlington, Texas, and John F. and Ivana Cholette of the Belford section of Middletown; two daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara T. and Nick Palumbo of Manasquan, and Nancy and Bernard DeVore of Birmingham, Ala.; and two grandchildren. Services were arranged by John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown, with a Mass at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Middletown. Entombment was at Fair View Mausoleum, Middletown. HOWARD C. LOTITO, 67, of the Keansburg section of Middletown, died Sept. 27 at home. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he lived there until moving to Keansburg in 1973. He was a longshoreman for Maher Terminals, Elizabeth, for 30 years, before retiring in 1999. He was a communicant and usher at St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, Keansburg. He was an honorary member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 4303 in the West Keansburg section of Hazlet. He was predeceased by his son, Howard Lotito, in 1994; three brothers, Robert, James, and John Lotito; and two sisters, Sissy Becraft and Goodie Gioffre. He is survived by two sons, Joseph R. Lotito of Oceanport, and Gary Lotito of Keansburg; two daughters, Joann Lotito and Randi Valle, both of Keansburg; six brothers, Frank, George, Ronnie, Tommy, Richie and Kenny Lotito; four sisters, Dorothy Badstein, Barbara Nagrowski, Lorraine Caciappo, and Debra Mathersen; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Services were arranged by John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. A Mass was at St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, Keansburg.
THEODORA JURMAN BLACKBURN, 85, of Matawan died Sept. 27 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she grew up in the Cheesequake section of Old Bridge. She worked for the Matawan Public Library prior to retirement in 1974. She was a model as well as a singer on the Nick Kenny radio program in New York City. She was active in the local Republican Party, and was an election board worker. She was predeceased by her parents, William and Mary Jurman; her first husband, John J. Shea; two brothers, Charles and Walter Jurman; and two sisters, Caroline Copeland and Emily Cornell. She is survived by her husband, William A. Blackburn of Matawan; two sons, James and daughter-in-law Elisabeth Shea of Matawan, and Thomas and daughter-in-law Evelyn Shea of North Brunswick; a daughter and son-in-law Joanne and Frank Tourine of Millstone Township; two stepdaughters, Sandra Johnson of Honolulu, Hawaii, and Charlotte Donlon of Keansburg; a brother, Arthur Jurman of Spring Lake; a sister, Helen Croskey of Catonsville, Md.; and five grandchildren. Services were arranged by Waitt Funeral Home, Morganville, with a Mass at St. Clement’s Roman Catholic Church, Matawan. Burial was at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Keyport. HEDY AKSTULEWICZ, 53, of Freehold Township died Sept. 16 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. She was born in Dover Town, Morris County, and had resided in Parsippany and the Succasunna section of Roxbury before moving to Freehold Township in 1974. Mrs. Akstulewicz was a software consultant for the past 11 years. She was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church, Freehold. Surviving are her husband, Walter J.; a son, Dennis, at home; a daughter, Stacy Lynn of Greenville, N.C.; her parents, James J. and Sophie Mahtook of Howell; and a sister, Joanne Mercadante of Freehold Township. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated today at St. Rose of Lima Church, followed by interment at St. Anne’s Cemetery, Wall. The C.H.T. Clayton and Son Funeral Home, Adelphia section of Howell, was in charge of arrangements.
NANCY E. LUCKENBACH SHELLY, 42, of Middletown died Sept. 29 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Red Bank, she was a lifelong resident of the area. She was a recovery coordinator for AT&T, Middletown, the last 19 years. She was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard. A 1980 graduate of Monmouth College, West Long Branch, she was a member of the Monmouth County Genealogy Society. She was also associated with the Humane Society’s Popcorn Park Zoo, Forked River section of Ocean. She was predeceased by her sister, Karen Luckenbach. She is survived by her husband, Kevin J. Shelly, Middletown; her mother, Dorothy O’Brien Luckenbach, Middletown; her daughter, Laura Anne Shelly of Middletown; a brother, Jeff Luckenbach of Marlboro; and a sister, Kathryn Luckenbach of Staten Island, N.Y. Services were arranged by John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown, with a Mass at St. Catherine’s Roman Catholic Church, Middletown. Entombment was at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown. HENRIETTA "DOLLY" WRIGHT HYNEMAN, 91, of Middletown died Sept. 29 at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Born in Belfast, Ireland, she came to the United States in 1925 and previously lived in Newark, Atlantic Highlands, the Port Monmouth section of Middletown, and Jackson. She was a supervisor for Bendix, Eatontown, until retirement in 1965. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Middletown. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert L. Hyneman, in 1991; and a granddaughter, Vanessa Hyneman. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth R. and Leaetta Hyneman of Hot Springs Village, Ark., and Robert L. and Barbara Hyneman of Atlantic Highlands; a brother, Simon Wright of Newark; two sisters, Jean Murphy of Atlantic Highlands, and Anne Neiddu of Long Branch; 13 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. CHARLOTTE MROZEK STOUT, 88, of East Brunswick died Sept. 14 at home. She was predeceased by a son, William Stout, and a daughter, Charlotte Stout. Surviving are her husband, Elmer G. Stout; three sons, David Stout of East Brunswick, Donald Stout of Middletown and Elmer Stout of Spring Hill, Fla.; a brother, Walter Mrozek of South River; 13 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. HAROLD V. BORCHERS, 54, of Middletown died Sept. 18 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in the Bronx, N.Y., he lived there until moving to Middletown 27 years ago. He was a vice president for Chase Bank, N.Y., the last 36 years. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era. He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Red Bank. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Christine Seedorf Borchers of Middletown; his parents, Harold and Miriam Walter Borchers Sr. of the Bronx; two sons, Scott A. and daughter-in-law Erin Borchers of North Brunswick; and Kevin D.
