C. WALTON "WALT" MOORE, 89, of Little Silver died Sept. 14 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. He was a lifelong Little Silver resident. He was employed by J.H. Kelly Co., Red Bank, for 33 years, retiring in 1982. An avid gardener, he was employed by Sickles Farm Market, Little Silver, during his teen-age years. He was named grand marshal of the Little Silver 75th anniversary parade. He was predeceased by two sisters, Harriet Moore and Mildred Moore. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Elizabeth "Betty" Moore of Little Silver; his son, Larry Moore of Little Silver; his brother-in-law, Warren Minton; and several nieces; nephews; grandnieces; and grandnephews. Interment was at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown. Memorial donations may be made to The Little Silver Public Library Renovation Fund, 484 Prospect Ave., Little Silver 07739.

DOLORES J. BARTON, 70, of Fair Haven died Sept. 20 at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Born in Northfield, Vt., she lived there, the Panama Canal zone, and Germany, prior to moving to Fair Haven 31 years ago. She worked for CECOM, Fort Monmouth, retiring in 1993. Prior to that, she worked for the Social Security Administration, Perth Amboy. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Northfield, Vt. Her affiliations included the Fort Monmouth Officers’ Wives’ Club, the Retired Officers Auxiliary, and was a 19-year member of the Monmouth Civic Chorus. She is survived by her husband, Retired Lt. Col. William E. Barton, Fair Haven; two sons, William E. Barton Jr. of Cape Elizabeth, Maine, and Robert H. Barton of Adelphia; and three grandchildren. A memorial service was at Red Bank Methodist Church. Interment was at Brigadier General W.C. Doyle Veterans. Memorial Cemetery, Arnytown. Memorial donations may be made to the SPCA of Monmouth County, 260 Wall St., Eatontown 07724; or the Monmouth Civic Chorus, P.O. Box 16, Red Bank 07701.

JOHN J. McGAVIN, 60, of Middletown died Sept. 20 at home. Born in Hoboken, he moved to Middletown in 1964. He was a computer technology teacher for Thompson Middle School, Middletown, for 23 years. Prior to that, he taught, and was a basketball coach, at Bayshore Middle School, Middletown, for 12 years. He was a member of the New Jersey and the National Education Associations. He was predeceased by his brother Patrick McGavin in 1964. He is survived by his wife of eight years, Carol Henry McGavin of Middletown; two sons and daughters-in-law, Patrick and Tracy McGavin of Highlands, and Scott and Teddy McGavin of Keyport; two daughters and one son-in-law, Kelly and Scott Klemroth of San Diego, Calif., and Megan Becker of Fort Monroe, Va.; his brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Betty McGavin of Denville; his sister and brother-in-law, Maureen and Richard Vensel of Scottsdale, Ariz.; one granddaughter; and his former wife, Sandra Connor McGavin of Rumson. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Catherine’s Roman Catholic Church, East Keansburg section of Middletown. Burial was at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown. Memorial donations may be made to the American Red Cross, 1540 W. Park Ave., Tinton Falls, NJ 07724.

LAURA CLOSE COTTRELL, 80, of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., and formerly of Rumson died Sept. 24 at home. Born in Red Bank, she lived in various European and American locations prior to moving to Palm Beach Gardens. She was a member of the Professional Golf Association at both Palm Beach Gardens and the Rumson Country Club. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Thomas E. Cottrell of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; four daughters, Diane Close Grant of Shreveport, La., Laura Gail Link of Weston, Conn., Alva Joyce Perkins of Richmond, Va., and Jo Anne Cottrell of Weston, Conn.; her brother, Robert Close of Red Bank; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A funeral service was held at the Presbyterian Church at Red Bank, followed by interment at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown.

RITA PRESTON NORDT, of Little Silver, died Sept. 30 at the Atlantic Highland Nursing Home. Born in Newark, she resided in Little Silver for the past 35 years and spent much of her time in Shawnee Valley, Pa. She was a stenographer for NJ Bell Atlantic, Red Bank and Shrewsbury. She was a communicant of St. James Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank; and a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. She was predeceased by her husband, Wilbur J.; two brothers, John and Thomas Preston; a sister, Margaret Beard; and her parents, Thomas and Ellen Preston, originally from Tipperary, Ireland. She is survived by two brothers, James Preston and William Preston; and two sisters, Eleanor Bennett and Mary Pede. A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. James Church. Interment was at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Central New Jersey Chapter, 12 Roszel Road, Suite 203, Princeton 08540.

ANTONIO "TONY" DiNOCERA, 76, of Shrewsbury died Sept. 17 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Arzano, Italy, he resided in Shrewsbury the past 35 years. He was a retired mason and labor foreman for Henry V. Vaccaro Construction, Neptune, for 25 years. He was a member of Laborers Union No. 349. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, gardening and horse racing. He is survived by his wife, Anna DiNocera of Shrewsbury; his son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Karen DiNocera Jr. of Little Silver; his daughter and son-in-law, Clelia and Manny Stefanakis of Oceanport; and three grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. Interment was at Fair View cemetery Mausoleum, Middletown. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 801 Broad St., Shrewsbury 07702.

HELEN M. KENNY, 81, of Red Bank died Sept. 19 at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Born in New Brunswick, she was a lifelong resident, prior to moving to Red Bank 10 years ago. She was a registered nurse for Roosevelt Hospital, Edison, retiring in 1982. Prior to that, she was a nurse at St. Peter’s Hospital, New Brunswick. She was a communicant of and member of The Stephens Ministry of The Church of the Nativity, Fair Haven. She is survived by three sons, Peter Kenny of Manalapan, William Kenny of Little Silver, and Michael Kenny of Monmouth Beach; two daughters, Katherine Fillmore of Camp Connell, Calif., and Liz Orsini of Little Silver; two sisters, Betty McCoy of Redwood City, Calif., and Jane Knaus of Manahawkin; and nine grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at The Church of the Nativity, Fair Haven.

JESSIE E. DONNELLY, 93, of Red Bank died Sept. 21 at Gateway Care Center, Eatontown. Born in Freiburg, Germany, she lived in Chile before moving to the United States in 1954, settling in Red Bank in 1961. She was primarily a homemaker, and conducted tours of New York City while employed at Anaconda Copper Co., New York City. Her activities included spending time with her grandchildren, needlework and volunteering at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur S. Donnelly, in 1959; her son, James Patrick, in 1973; her twin brother, Frank Ojeda; and four sisters. She is survived by her daughter, Doreen Parks of Oceanport; her daughter-in-law, Christa Donnelly of Lake Bluff, Ill.; her sister-in-law, Marjorie Ojeda of Canadaigua, N.Y.; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to the Mental Health Association of Monmouth County, 59 Broad St., Eatontown 07724.

HOWARD TERRY, 77, of Red Bank, died Sept. 30 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Eatontown, he had resided there until moving to Red Bank 46 years ago. Mr. Terry was a mail carrier for the Eatontown post office until his retirement. He later was employed at Professional Pharmacy, Red Bank, and was a school crossing guard in Red Bank. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Carnell Gadson Terry; two daughters and one son-in-law, Sheila and Andrew McHugh of Triangle, W. Va., and Lisette Terry Thomas of Conyers, Ga.; a brother, Bedell "Sonny" Terry of Red Bank; two sisters, Audrey Allen and Emily Brown, both of California; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Interment was at Monmouth Memorial Park, Tinton Falls. Memorial donations may be made to the Colon Cancer Foundation, 1 Riverview Plaza, Red Bank 07701.
