CHARLES SALEMI, 80, of Orlando, Fla., formerly of the Parlin section of Sayreville, died Sept. 23 in Florida East Hospital, Orlando. His wife, Hilda Mary Fenton Salemi, died in April, and a son, Jack W., died in 1995. Surviving are five daughters, Gloria-Jean Edwards of Wilkes Barre, Pa., Donna-Marie Chrzan of Keansburg, Valerie-Ann Merchant of Orlando, Debra-Lynn Szraga of Dumphries, Va., and Theresa-Mary DiPreta of Pahrump, Nev.; three sisters, Carmella Tarpey of Middletown, N.Y., Gieovina Arakas of Virginia and Rose Tedesco of Old Bridge; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. A Mass is planned for 10:15 a.m. on Sept. 27 at St. Ann’s Church, Keansburg. Interment
will follow in Monmouth Memorial Park, Neptune.
LYDIA STRETZ TAPPING, 85, of Sayreville died Sept. 17 in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. Her husband, Charles, died in 1974. Surviving are a daughter, Margaret Wendaur of Sayreville; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Interment
was in New York Bay Cemetery, Jersey City.
MARY "BECKY" LONIEWSKI, 75, of Sayreville died Sept. 24 at home. Surviving are her husband, Edward; four sons, Edward Jr. of Lakewood, Gregory of Vermont, Stephen of Washington and Mark of Sayreville; a daughter, Chrianne Scully of Sayreville; a sister, Christie Brocker of Long Island, N.Y.; and 11 grandchildren. A Mass is planned for 9:30 a.m. on Sept. 28 at Our Lady of Victories Church, Sayreville. Private cremation will follow.
ROSE M. VANNI, 83, of South Amboy died Sept. 20 in Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Surviving are two brothers, Joseph T. Vanni and Francis A. Vanni, and two sisters, Mary Vanni and Anna Vanni, all of South Amboy; three nephews; two nieces; two great-nieces; and three great-nieces. A Mass was offered at St. Mary’s Church, South Amboy. Entombment was in the church mausoleum.
REGINA PIOTROWSKI TOMARI BLASZKA, 83, of South River died Sept. 22 in Old Bridge Manor. Her first husband, Steven L. Tomari, died in 1965. Surviving are her husband, Otto F. Blaszka; a son, Stephen J. Tomari of Albuquerque, N.M.; a daughter, Lynette Burgert of Jim Thorpe, Pa.; two stepsons, F. James Blaszka of Torrington, Conn., and Michael S. Blaszka of Port Charlotte, Fla.; a sister, Matilda Warren of South River; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Mary of Ostrabrama Church, South River. Interment
was in St. Mary’s Cemetery, East Brunswick.
PETER MARKOUSKI, D.D.S., 80, of Milltown, formerly of East Brunswick, died Sept. 23 in The Medical Center at Princeton. Prior to his retirement in 1987, he maintained a private dental practice in East Brunswick for 20 years. Surviving are his wife, Helen Kociol Markouski; three daughters, Elizabeth Bernstein of Freehold, Katherine Markouski of Milltown and Anna Markouski of South Brunswick; a son, Paul of Los Angeles; and two brothers, Nick of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Walter of Chicago. HELEN ELIZABETH BASEL QUINN, 86, of Old Bridge died Sept. 21 in the Reformed Church Home, Old Bridge. Surviving are two sons, James Quinn of Alexandria, Va., and Timothy Quinn of Brooklyn, N.Y.; three daughters, Kathleen Quinn of East Brunswick, Maureen Bertrand of Shoreham, Vt., and Geraldine Harding of Jamaica, N.Y.; two brothers, Michael Basel of Chicago, and George Basel of South Carolina; a sister, Patricia Basel of Spokane, Wash.; and four grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Ambrose Church, Old Bridge. Interment
was private.
RUTH F. PATTERSON BRUNING, 87, of Spotswood died Sept. 24 at home. Her husband, John P. Bruning, died in 1996, and a daughter, Ruth J. Keppe, died in 1994. Surviving are a grandson, Michael Keppe of Spotswood; a granddaughter; and two great-granddaughters. A Mass is planned for 10:15 a.m. on Sept. 27 at Immaculate Conception Church, Spotswood. Interment
will follow in St. James Cemetery, Jamesburg.
ROBERT E. HORNER, 70, of East Brunswick died Sept. 19 in St. Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. Surviving are his wife, Leona Horner; a son, Robert Horner of Monroe; a daughter, Karen Sivilich of Monroe; a brother, James Horner of Cedar Grove; two sisters, Eleanor Lenhart of East Brunswick and Margaret Cullen of Spotswood; and four grandchildren. Entombment was in Frost Woods Cemetery, East Brunswick.
MARGARET H. PLEVETSKY, 81, of Milltown died Sept. 22 in St. Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. Her husband, Jacob Plevetsky, died in 1980, and a son, James F. Plevetsky, died in 1990.
