Timothy J. McMahon
Mr. McMahon, 64, of Fair Haven, died Nov. 5 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. He was the restaurant manager at the Dublin House, Red Bank. He also worked with private construction contractors, and prior to that, was an adjunct history professor at Rutgers University, New Brunswick. He was a communicant of and usher at Church of The Nativity, Fair Haven. He was a local historian, lecturer, journalist, authored two books on New Jersey history, and lectured on the history of Monmouth County in both Monmouth and Ocean counties. He is survived by two cousins, Mary Ellen Anfuso of Long Branch, and Thomas O’Brien of South Carolina. A Mass of Christian Burial

Catherine Ann “Cathy” Voss
Miss Voss, 49, of Tinton Falls, died Nov. 7 at home. She was born in Little Silver. She received her master’s degree at Monmouth University, West Long Branch, and was a counselor at United Cerebral Palsy of New York for several years. She enjoyed time with her family. She was predeceased by her mother, Dolores Voss in 1985, and her father, James W. Voss Sr. in 1999. She is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, James W. and Cindy Voss Jr. of Little Silver; a sister and brother-in-law, Susan M. and Kevin Vliet of Toms River; and one niece and one nephew. Priscilla Gasparini
Mrs. Gasparini, 81, of Rumson, died Nov. 10 at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, New York City. Born in Falmouth, Mass., she resided in Springfield, Mass., before moving to Rumson 30 years ago. Mrs. Gasparini was a homemaker. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Descendants of Whaling Masters. She was predeceased by a brother, Everett Brown; and a sister, Annette Chenevert. Mrs. Gasparini is survived by her husband of 57 years, Francis Gasparini; two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Barbara Gasparini of Oceanport, and David and Maribel Gasparini of Hillsborough; a daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Richard Marchese of Longmeadow, Mass.; five grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters. Sadie V. Dombroski Dobry Peterson
Mrs. Peterson, 92, of Old Bridge, died Oct. 23 at Arnold Walter Nursing Home, Hazlet. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she had resided in Freehold before moving to Old Bridge 50 years ago. Mrs. Peterson was a machinist at Precision Casting, Morganville, for 40 years, retiring in 1970. She was predeceased by her first husband, Victor Dobry, in 1947, and her second husband, Frederick Peterson, in 1998. She is survived by a son, Paul Dobry of Lakewood; a daughter, Irene Weston of Hazlet; two sisters, Jane Carbone of Red Bank and Ann Darcey of Millville; a sister-in-law, Jean Dombroski of Maryland; two stepsons, Robert Peterson of Tennessee and Frederick Peterson of Toms River; two stepdaughters, Marilyn Peterson and Dorothy Peterson, both of Florida; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Bernadette’s Roman Catholic Church, Parlin, followed by interment at St. Gabriel’s Cemetery, Marlboro. Fred J. Jacques
Mr. Jacques, 94, of Shrewsbury, died Oct. 22. He resided in Jersey City and Spring Lake Heights, prior to moving to Shrewsbury. He was a retired executive secretary to the board of regents at St. Peter’s College, Jersey City, from 1965-82. Prior to that, he was an associate professor at the college, and founded the St. Peter’s College business symposium. He was also involved in the Jesuit community, serving as treasurer of the World Union of Jesuit Alumni, and vice president of the World Congress of Jesuit Alumni. He was awarded with a Bene Merenti Medal, Petrean Medal, and Doctor of Humane Letters (honorary) degree by St. Peter’s. He enjoyed time with his family, photography, gardening and cooking. He was predeceased by his wife of 66 years, Catharine in 2004; and a brother, Robert. He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Suzanne and Jack Gavin of Rumson, and Calley and Walt Ekins of Batesville, Ind.; a son and daughter-in-law, Fred and Ellen Jacques Jr. of Jersey City; a brother, Richard Jacques of Florida; eight grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Diana M. Strauss
Mrs. Strauss, 64, of Freehold, died Nov. 2 at home. She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and had lived in Ocean Township before moving to Freehold in 1997. Mrs. Strauss was a contract manager for Ansell Americas, Red Bank, where she was employed for the past 16 years. She was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church, Freehold. She was a member of STAR, an astronomy group; Synergy; and the Red Bank Players. She was an avid historian. Surviving are a son, Douglas S. Strauss of Newark, Del.; a daughter, Lynn Smith of Ocean Gate; her mother, Mary Longo of Ocean Township; a brother, Joseph Longo of Staten Island, N.Y.; and two grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, followed by interment at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold Township. Norma Jacqueline Lawrence Tully
Mrs. Tully, 73, of Red Bank, died Oct. 29 in Red Bank. She resided in Maplewood prior to moving to the Red Bank area in 1969. She was a retired deli clerk at Foodtown, Red Bank, where she was employed from 1990-2004. She was past Fifth District President of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars John Russell Wheeler Post No. 1397, Linden. She was predeceased by a brother, Robert M. Lawrence; and a sister, Ora C. Dombrowsky. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, George R. Tully; three sons and two daughters-in-law, George L. and Jessica Tully of New York City, Paul R. and Sheila Tully of Hazlet, and Robert N. Tully of Middletown; a daughter and son-in-law, Jacqueline and Carmen DeCarlo; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruth M. and Robert Mengert of Stauton, Va., and Claire H. and Mark Brietkopt of Florida; and three grandchildren. Diane June Olafsen Jones
Mrs. Jones, 62, of Red Bank, died Oct. 20 at her daughter’s home in Midland Park. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she had resided in Middletown until 1990 and had lived in Tokyo before moving to Red Bank. Mrs. Jones was a homemaker. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Peter and Dana Jones of Holmdel; a daughter and son-in-law, Lauren and William Malcolm of Midland Park; and five grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown, followed by burial at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown. The John F. Maria A. Grilli Gatta
Maria A. Grilli Gatta, 59, of Oceanport, died Oct. 27 at home. Born in Long Branch, she resided in Little Silver prior to moving to Oceanport in 1971. She was the first female mayor of Oceanport Borough. She also served as an Oceanport Borough Councilwoman five years, Council president in 2001 and 2003, and Council liaison to Oceanport First Aid Squad, Health & Welfare, Shade Tree, Senior Citizens, Economic Development, Board of Education, and Parks & Recreation. Her memberships included Oceanport Planning Board, Emergency Planning Council, and 12-year member of Oceanport Alliance to Prevent Alcoholism and Drug Abuse. She was also a former 14-year member and past president of Oceanport Board of Education, former 20-year executive board member and past president of Oceanport PTO. She co-owned with Dee Frankel, Cheers to You!, Oakhurst section of Ocean Township, the past 24 years. Prior to that, she was a teacher in the Ocean Township and Oceanport Public School Systems. She was predeceased by her parents, Antoinette and Emilio Grilli; and a sister, Catherine Grilli. She is survived by her husband, John A. Gatta; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Pamela Gatta of Eatontown; a daughter, Mary Gatta of Long Branch; a sister, Margaret Grilli of Eatontown; and a granddaughter. A Mass of Christian Burial

Walter P. Lynch
Mr. Lynch, 28, of Jackson, died Oct. 23 from injuries received in a car accident. Born in Red Bank, he had lived most of his life in Middletown before moving to Jackson one year ago. A 1996 graduate of Middletown High School North, Mr. Lynch was a driver for Puglisi Egg Farms, Howell. Surviving are a daughter, Kiley Rose Lynch of Middletown; his parents, Walter and Denise Lynch of Jackson; and a sister and brother, Tracy Ann Lynch and Joseph E. Lynch, both of Jackson. A funeral gathering will be held Oct. 27 at 9:30 a.m. at the John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, 115 Tindall Road, Middletown, followed by a funeral liturgy at 10:15 a.m. at St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, Keansburg. Burial

Gregory N. Caffyn
Mr. Caffyn, 34, of Howell, died suddenly Oct. 9 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. He was an organ donor. Originally from Oceanport, he had resided in Howell for the past five years. A graduate of Oceanport Grammar School and Shore Regional High School, West Long Branch, Mr. Caffyn was employed as a warehouse manager for the MGM Paper Co. in Hamilton. He was a communicant of St. Mary of the Lake Roman Catholic Church, Lakewood. An avid New York Giants and New York Mets fan, he also loved cooking and going fishing. Mr. Caffyn is survived by his wife, Maureen Meyers Caffyn; two sons, Gregory Robert, 5, and Kaden Daly, 2; his parents, Michael Sr. and Anne Nelson Caffyn of Oceanport; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Michael and Kris Caffyn of Manahawkin, and Daniel Caffyn of Oceanport; three uncles and two aunts, Edgar C.
