CONNIE PICARELLI, 85, of Old Bridge died Sept. 17 in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. Her husband, John, died in 1986, and a granddaughter, Gina Greco, died in 1998. Surviving are two sons, Joseph of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Anthony of West Palm Beach, Fla.; two daughters, Christine Marsella of Tampa, Fla., and Mary Greco of Old Bridge; four sisters, Mary Castrulli and Rose Marino, both of New York, Lucy Costanza of Brooklyn and Fay Marsilio of New Jersey; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Services were arranged by Michael Hegarty Funeral Home, Old Bridge, with a Mass at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Old Bridge. Interment
was in Resurrection Cemetery, Staten Island, N.Y.
RACHEL D. CANTORE PIETROWICZ, 83, of Old Bridge died Sept. 20 in CentraState Medical Center, Freehold. Her husband, Stanley J. Pietrowicz, died in 1993. Surviving are a son, Fred Jeffries of Jackson; two daughters, Clara Valenti of Naples, Fla., and Diane Bell of Old Bridge; her stepmother, June Cantore of West Palm Beach, Fla.; two brothers, Victor Cantore of Jackson and Rocco Cantore of West Palm Beach; two sisters, Virginia Santisi of Stuart, Fla., and Mary Soden of Old Bridge; five grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. Services were arranged by Brunswick Memorial Home, East Brunswick, with a Mass at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Old Bridge. Entombment was in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
WALTER J. PRUSIK, 81, of South River died Sept. 20 in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. His wife, Laura Milek Prusik, died in 1986. Surviving are a son, T. Wayne Prusik of South River; his companion, Maureen Gatz of Spotswood; two brothers, Charles Prusik of East Syracuse, N.Y., and Matthew Prusik of the Morgan section of Sayreville; a sister, Florence Kroeger of the Parlin section of Sayreville; a stepsister, Sally Dlugozimski of South River; a stepbrother, Edward Usczenski of South River; two grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. THOMAS C. RAFAEL, 56, of Monroe, formerly of Old Bridge, died Sept. 19 at home. Surviving are his wife, Fran Lanaia Rafael; two daughters, Diana Stanziale of Middletown and Suzanne Rafael of Monroe; a son, Thomas C. Rafael Jr. of Monroe; his mother, Rita Rafael of Ormond Beach, Fla.; two brothers, William Rafael of Staten Island, N.Y., and the Rev. Nicholas Rafael of Jamestown, N.Y.; a sister, Mary Rita Faenza of Ormond Beach; and three grandsons. LILLIAN J. NIMETZ SADOWSKI, 61, of the Parlin section of Sayreville died Sept. 21 in St. Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. Surviving are her husband, Leonard A. Sadowski; a son, Kenneth A. Sadowski; three daughters, Lillian M. Sowder, Lenora Luparello and Lisa Amato; two brothers, George Nimetz and Daniel Nimetz; four sisters, Ann Giles, Margaret "Coo" Sawicz, Dorothy Orender and Darlene Kondas; and nine grandchildren. MARY FRANCES LOMBARDO LEMIRE, 81, of East Brunswick, formerly of Milltown, died July 30 at home. Surviving are her husband, Ernest Lemire; a son, James Lemire of Sarasota, Fla.; a daughter, Ruth Schorpp of East Brunswick; a brother, Samuel Lombardo of North Brunswick; and two grandchildren. A Mass is planned for Aug. 2 at Corpus Christi Church, South River. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Burial Park Mausoleum, South Brunswick. GRACE T. CONTE D’AIELLO, 68, of Sayreville died July 25 in St. Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. Her husband, Frank M. D’Aiello, died in April, and a son, Frank M. Jr., died in 1964. Surviving are two sons, Martin of Franklin Park and Michael of North Brunswick; three daughters, Nancy Stetz of Milltown, Frances Rosuck of Monroe and Deborah Flanagan of Sayreville; a sister, Lia Richter of Tuckerton; two brothers, Roe Conte of San Francisco and Nick Conte of Fair Lawn; and eight grandchildren. FREDERICK G. GORHAU, 68, of the Parlin section of Sayreville died July 24 in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. His wife, Eileen M. Gorhau, died in January. Surviving are a son, Fred J. of Sayreville; two daughters, Lisa and Monica, both of East Windsor; his mother, Margaret of Cranford; two brothers, Frank and Richard, both of Cranford; a sister, Peggy Paris of North Brunswick; and four grandchildren. BESSIE COHEN GROSS, 87, of East Brunswick died Jan. 13 in The Elms of Cranbury. Her husband, Max, died in 1988. Surviving are a son, Jerry Gross of Las Vegas; a daughter, Eileen Levine of the Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick; a brother, Sol Cohen of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and three grandchildren.
