LAURA FUSCO, 55, of the Belford section of Middletown died Oct. 30 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Jersey City, she lived in Ridgefield Park prior to moving to Belford 14 years ago. She was an accounts receivable manager for Hartz Mountain Industries, Harrison, for 22 years, retiring five years ago. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown. She was predeceased by her father, Charles Johnson; her mother, Joan Boyanowski; and her sister, Barbara Garymore. She is survived by her husband, Louis Fusco of Belford; her daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Frank Sofio of Middletown; her stepson, Stephan Fusco of Fort Lee; two stepdaughters, Gina Grater of Paramus, and Deanna Fusco; her sister, Elaine Johnson of Jersey City; two brothers, Charles Johnson of Middletown, and Howard Johnson of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; three grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth. Burial was at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown.
ROBERT SNYDER, 73, of Middletown died Oct. 29 at Barbara E. Cheung Memorial Hospice, Edison. Born in Jersey City, he resided in Middletown since 1956. He was a retired salesman for Topps Appliance, Lakewood, where he worked 10 years. Prior to that, he was the owner and operator of Twiggs Men’s Shop, Middletown, for past 20 years. He is survived by his wife, Alita Fitzpatrick Snyder of Middletown; two daughters, Leeann Lindrose of Laurel, Md., and Robyn Skove of Oakhurst; and five grandchildren. WALTER R. MATTHIES, 80, of Whiting died Nov. 1 at home. Born in New York City, N.Y., he lived in Staten Island, N.Y., and Sabastian, Fla., prior to moving to Whiting four years ago. He was a truck driver for Pacific Intermountain Express, Ohio, for 25 years, retiring in 1982. Prior to that, he was employed for 38 years by Teamster Unions No. 560 and 707, Jersey City. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was predeceased by two brothers, Milton Matthies and Fred Matthies. He is survived by his wife, Helen Matthies of Whiting; two sons and daughters-in-law, Walter and Joan Matthies Jr. of the West Keansburg section of Hazlet, and James and Arlene Matthies of Staten Island; three daughters and sons-in-law, Doris and Phil Reddy of Staten Island, Joyce and Ted Scheffler of Middletown, and Patricia and John Hughes of the Port Monmouth section of Middletown; his brother, John Matthies of Whiting; his sister, Margaret McKeever of Staten Island; 23 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Catherine’s Roman Catholic Church, East Keansburg section of Middletown. Interment
was at Long Island National Cemetery, Pinelawn, N.Y.
EVELYN L. JUNIEWICZ, 91, of the Lincroft section of Middletown died Nov. 3 at Arnold Walter Nursing Home, Holmdel. Born in South Willamsport, Pa., she was a direct descendant of Daniel Boone. She lived in Point Pleasant prior to moving to Lincroft two years ago. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Laurelton Park Baptist Church, Brick. She was a member of the Christian Couples Club of New Monmouth Baptist Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Walter Juniewicz of Lincroft; her daughter, Carolyn McMillan of Middletown; her sister, Marie Evans of Elizabeth; her brother, Woodrow Boone of Tonawanda, N.Y.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Burial was at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown.
VERONICA E. SABO KUHN, 60, of the Belford section of Middletown died Oct. 30 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in the Bronx, N.Y., she lived there until moving to Belford in 1974. She was a retired counter person for Harmony Lanes, Middletown, for eight years. Prior to that, she was a payroll clerk for New York Life, New York City, for two years. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown. Her hobbies included traveling with her husband. She was predeceased by her daughter, Doreen Marie Ryan, in 1995. She is survived by her husband of 38 years, John M. Kuhn of Belford; her son and daughter-in-law, John and Jean Ann Kuhn of Brick; her daughter, Christine Kuhn of Belford; and one grandson. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth, followed by burial at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown.
VIRGINIA M. JABLONSKI, 49, of Matawan, a victim of the World Trade Center tragedy, will be remembered at a memorial service Nov. 3 at St. Clement Church, Matawan. She was an assistant vice president for Marsh & McLennan Cos. and worked on the 94th floor of tower one. Born and raised in Brooklyn, N.Y., she moved to Matawan 21 years ago after marrying her husband, Barry. Before working for Marsh & McLennan, she worked for the Reinsurance Corporation of New York for 24 years. She was a dependable employee, traveling to and from the city with her friends on the bus. She had many hobbies and loves, most of which were people. Her bubbly personality, quick smile and infectious laugh made her many friends. She also had two special cats, Bill and Fred. They were her constant companions, and she decorated her home in a cat motif. She was always thinking of others, especially her husband, nieces and nephews. She had already started her Christmas shopping in the downtown area. One of nd her husband spent many vacations all over the world. She and her husband awoke early on Sept. 11 to watch the International Space Station pass overhead at 5:30 a.m. They had a beautiful view on that clear morning and commented that it felt like it was going to be a good day. She was predeceased by her father, Luciano DeTullio. Surviving are her husband of 21 years, Barry Jablonski; her mother, Eleanora DeTullio of Holmdel; brother, Anthony DeTullio, and his wife, Sheryl of Manalapan; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Henry and Dorothy Jablonski of Campbell Hall, N.Y.; brother-in-law, Gregory Jablonski, and his wife, Caroline of Southbury, Conn.; sister-in-law, Elaine Virga, and husband, Frank of Wantagh, N.Y.; niece, Lauren DeTullio; nephew, Michael DeTullio and wife Jennifer; niece, Cristie DeTullio; niece, Laurie Jablonksi; nephews, Matthew and Michael Virga; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and special friends. A memorial Mass will be offered at 11 a.m. Nov. 3 at St. Clement Church, Matawan. There will be a gathering at the church banquet center immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Red Cross.
FLORENCE B. BARANOWSKI, 81, of the Lincroft section of Middletown died Oct. 16 at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Born in Elizabeth, she resided there until moving to Lincroft 50 years ago. She was a real estate agent for Boris Agency, Red Bank, for five years, retiring 15 years ago. Her memberships included the Middletown Senior Citizens League; St. Mary’s Over 50 Club, Middletown; Murphy’s Club, Leonardo section of Middletown; and the Lincroft Woman’s Club, of which she was a former vice president. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Richard C. Baranowski of Lincroft; her daughter, Sherri Baranowski of Lincroft; and two brothers, Bernie Quail of Bridgewater Township, and Buddy Quail of Florida. Burial was at Bay View Cemetery, Leonardo. RAYMOND PREHART, 73, of Hazlet died Oct. 17 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Passaic, he lived in Newark prior to moving to Hazlet 41 years ago. He was a retired factory worker for Keiser Aluminum, Edison, where he worked for 40 years. He was a communicant of St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, Keansburg. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a former member of the Hazlet Board of Health. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Phyllis L. Caruso Prehart of Hazlet; two sons, Raymond A. Prehart Jr. of Smithville, and Richard V. Prehart of Middletown; his brother, Andrew Prehart of Wayne; and two grandchildren, Richard Prehart Jr. and Jacqueline Prehart. A funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, Keansburg. Entombment was at Holmdel Cemetery.
ELEANOR M. KLEIMACK HUDERWITZ, 71, of the Belford section of Middletown died Oct. 20 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Bayonne, she lived there until moving to Belford in 1962. She was a homemaker. She was predeceased by her husband, Francis Huderwitz in 1988. She is survived by her son, Francis C. Huderwitz of South Bend, Ind.; and two sisters, Loretta Tergersen of Toms River, and Marion Wolff of Pontgorda, Fla. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown. Interment
was at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown.
PATRICIA ANN KEENAN SCHWARZ, 65, of Long Branch died Oct. 10 at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune. Born in Red Bank, she lived in Sea Bright prior to moving to Long Branch three years ago. She was the retired owner and operator of Nannie’s Deli & Sub Shop, Long Branch, for 10 years, retiring in 1955. She was a member of the Sea Bright Fire Ladies, as well as an avid bingo player and traveler. She was predeceased by her twin brother, Rodney Keenan of Middletown. She is survived by three sons and one daughter-in-law, John and Vicky Schwarz of Long Branch; Fritz Schwarz of Honolulu, Hawaii; and Kirt Schwarz of North Bergen; three daughters and two sons-in-law, DeAnne and Geoffrey Nesbitt of Randolph, Colleen and Thomas Aleo of Reno, Nev., and Cheryl Schwarz of Highlands; her brother and sister-in-law, John and Joan Keenan Jr. of Eatontown; her sister, Marguerite Estelle of Deal; her sister-in-law, Mary Keenan of Middletown; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandson. A funeral liturgy was offered at Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church, Rumson, followed by interment at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.
